Q:
How does PPK work?
Gameplay Programmer
A:
1. 1 point goes to World 1.
2. Nothing.
3. 1 point goes to World 2.
4. 1 point goes to World 3.
5. Nothing.
6. Nothing.
7. 1 point goes to World 1 and 1 point goes to World 2.
8. There is not enough context to answer this question.
Each team containing a player that contributed to killing another player gets a single point for that player’s death. This means if anyone dies to only NPCs no points are awarded to any teams. If multiple people from the same team contributed to killing a player only point is awarded to their team. If multiple teams contributed to killing the same player then each contributing team gets a point.
already asked it to tons of players aswell, Anet doesn’t seem to give any information about it at all. GG holding a sneak attack w/o even trying to clarify their changes. I really miss those good old days of anet in gw1 where they actually seemed to care about us
8.:
The question was what happens if a single player from Server 1 casts aoe’s in the middle of a big zerg-fight between server 2 and 3.
Will Server 1 be rewarded with all tagged kills as well, even tho the player from 1 maybe hit individual players from both Servers only once or twice?
If he hits enough as to “loot” from the fight they will win all points. I think it’s ridicoulous that if 1 guy from server 1 places an static in the middle of server 2 and server 3, server 1 wil most probably win 20-40 points for server 1.
Sincerely, only 1 server should get the points, and should be the one that damaged the most the guy that gets killed, otherwise will be just one guy tagging other 2 blobs and leeching points fom other server’s fights
i´m already seeing server 1 player sitting on AC trying to tag a zergfight beetween server 2 and 3 , in the lordroom of SN or in a keep when server 2 and 3 trying to take the keep from server 1

This matches the “1 and 2 are killing 3”. So if ele managed to damage players sufficiently to get XP/loot from kill, then his server will be granted points for 2 and 3 killing each other.
Also means building an arrow cart by 2-3 people near place of blob-fight is going to be very efficient — no matter who really wins, you get all the points
Thank you for the concise answer Zachery Stiers. If I may ask another?
I’m looking at my usual WvW UI and it seems to me that PPT is still in effect this week, as opposed to pure PPK. Is this really the case?
How is total scoring being handled this week, and next week?
You’d think it’d be as simple as the World that delivers the killing blow gets the appropriate credit, whether it be via cleave or stomp. Though as is, in 3-way fights now we are essentially aiding in the direct increase of an enemy’s score by… killing the enemy. Also, I hope that when a player is “tagged” by an enemy from World A and escapes, leaves combat, that they are no longer still worth a point for World A when they are killed some time later by enemy from World B. Otherwise everyone is going to be tagging everyone all the time in hopes that the player dies eventually, somewhere, somehow. :\ That window of “worth” should be quite limited, imho.
“Ah, the mind of an irrational gamer, where injustice abounds.”

What static is going to hit 40 enemies multiple times?
I like this change. I hope they keep it. I’m still undecided on the white sword change.

Static has a 50 man cap on throw (used to have at least few months ago, when I checked), so using a static in the middle of a blob vs blob fight will result in tagging a lot of enemies and so getting all those points for your wolrd for free.
Apart from that, I sad static as I could have said meteor shower or necro wells or whatever, get inside a blob vs blob, drop the bomb there, die, respawn, get loot, collect points
it should be the killing blow that counts…..
Archeage = Farmville with PK
alright for clarification in any scenario where a player dies the last server to have a player damage that player dies gets the point so if you die by npc but a player hit you no matter the npc the server of the player that hits you gets the point. if you cast meteor on a blob fight if you get the killing blow you get the point otherwise you get jack kitten the team that kills the other gets the points
Thank you for your awnser Zachari.
You actually awnsered 8 as well with the others, cause it seems tagging is enough then. That opens a window for some interesting tactics.
I think this ppt thing is one of the best thing what happened with wvw since launch (close after the culling improvements)

So AoE spammers should hover near enemy spawn exists and try to tag every player moving out. Don’t bother killing, just tag and hide away. Points well deserved.
This won’t hurt [Much]

You will not get credit if u tag someone and he dies after in 1m.
Where is it visible how many kill points I myself, my guild and my server have earned?

PPK doesn’t seem to make any difference to scoring atm… my server has a couple of nightcappers that take everything at night with omegas (yes I know… >_>) and we’re overpowering the other 2 servers cause of that. PPK doesn’t seem to make much difference: what about making kills count for more than 1 point or restricting points gotten from holding objectives?

It’s not making a visual difference because there’s no white swords and everything is flipped constantly at a high frequency EoTM style

It should just be the server loses a point when a player from that server is killed; then you don’t have all this third party zerg-fight-tagging silliness.
It would also encourage your server to fight the one you wish to beat as opposed to getting points from the third server.

I was going to suggest partial points based on the solidity of the tag but actually this idea works out rather elegantly.
There’s still incentive for a third party to interfere in a scrum between two other blobs, but in order to facilitate the loss of as many points as possible by both enemy teams, instead of to earn rewards for your own.
On the other hand, i can see a huge amount of hate being directed at new or uplevelled players as a consequence.
