How to make WvW fun?
A balanced population across the servers would be nice.

I can’t give any ideas on how to do this but it is so boring running around at 5fps with a bunch of green names floating above invisible bodies spamming the 11111111111.
I wish tactics could be implemented in some way.
WvW IS fun. The only way they can make it more fun is if ANet somehow gets all 4 maps queued up all the time, like it was during Season 1 leagues for T1 servers. It was truly epic.

Tactics are central to coordinated groups on teamspeak. As is strategy. If you’re spamming 1, expect to be wiped by a pug zerg with a good commander. Also, get a better computer. GW2’s graphics needs a pretty hefty machine to render.

This. Removing the AoE cap so blobbing has a risk. Currently WvW can be described with one sentence:

Do you guys run with a coordinated and organized guild/commander ever? Should try it sometime, because it doesn’t sound like you have ever been on vent/ts with a large group (guess you call those blobs?) that have set tactics and plays to take objectives and fight off enemy zergs.
Even in HUGE battles a lot of the time there is a method to the madness. Try joining a serious guild and hopping into vent with them during a raid.
Edit: WvW can be made more fun by joining a serious WvW guild.
I have fun with my friends, and we do crazy wild things sometimes to just blow off the steam. We do naked zergs, and toy zergs and ladies night…
We have fun! Try to think outside the box and look at it as an open environment a giant playground. That said I have found the more fun we have the better our server is doing in the match up!

So forces ppl to go on servers that have lower pop? That seems kind of wrong.
Any way to make WvW fun join a guild that wvw often that alone will go a long way for making wvw fun for any one. Just randomly going into a game type that made for big numbers solo is a bit questionable chose.

WvW is toast, finally came back after a year and it is still zergfests and PvE swaps. The whole system needs to be scrapped. 5 minutes and already bored out of my mind.

Needs a slight redesign.
Zergs have:
Advantage of numbers
Advantage of downed state
Advantage of AOE cap
Advantage of readily available swiftness
Advantage of small maps
Advantage of zerg rezzing
Advantage of rezzing stomped players
AOE damage is very close to single target damage
Its insanely poor design when you give this many advantages to the larger group.
Tactical Spacing in the real world: When in maneuvers attempt to stay 10 feet away from the person next to you. That way if a grenade lands either on you or between you and the person next to you only one will die or both will be wounded.
Tactical Spacing in GW2: Stack as close to everyone so that the AOE damage will bounce around within the group mitigating damage.
By upgrading your PC.

recently got a new PC and WvW did become much more fun without the low fps

ever since release the 4 WvW maps hasnt seen much changes… the wvw ranking system is great but it would be nice if some stuff was added to make fights/capturing more exciting.
underground tunnel network, AI champions following commanders, floating guildbases WvW player ladder, I don’t know if these things are even possible…
Add an “explore” option so people can go into the maps without being involved in PVP combat in any way. That would be a hell of a lot more fun for PVE players than being forced into PVP for the sake of a few achieves.
Any player in the explore option only shows up as “explorer” and is counted as a green (friendly) unit by all actual fighters on the map, who would also show up as friendly “mist warriors” to explorers regardless of which world they come from, and all open chat would be blocked from explorers during the time they are in there. No cheap free scouting, no one forced into a game play style they absolutely despise.

Three things: 1) No you can’t because you can’t really see the difference between enemy and ally players, or communicate with them, anyway as long as you are an explorer. 2) None of that would be any less fair than the current system is. All three worlds have access to the same cheap gimmicks, no matter what those cheap gimmicks are. Scouts camping waypoints doesn’t bother you at all, I take it. 3) That’s already possible, you just have a spy on another server and contact each other through skype or vent or whatever. If people want to cheat, they already can, do, and always will.
How about decreasing the population cap in WvW for lower tier servers to make the teams more even. Since lower tier servers cant even muster 25% of the wvw player cap why not lower it down to 20or 40 players per map.
Or make smaller WvW maps with smaller population caps for the lower tier servers.

By making all ascended gear, and not just some, purchasable with Luarels and badges.
And allow crafters to sell their ascended wares so has to create a crafters markets like DAoC did.
Reduce the WvW points that each Camp-Tower-Keep gives to your server , by 2/3 .
If your server control the : Greenwater Lowlands + Redwater Lowlands + Bluewater Lowlands ( south-eastern camps) you get a huge WvW points bonus (Towers hould give less bonus and Keeps even less) .
Even if 1 server is extremly domintant , with guerilla tacktics (try to cap 1 of the 3 camps) they wont get the huge bonus > so they wont be too much ahead in the score .
Even is nightzones times or a lower population server > few ppl can stall a full covarage server
Combined with a system that the 2 loosers servers should avoid attacking each other , but try to aim for the domminant team objectives (rewards driven based) that will force the zergs for the dominant server to brake up into smaller pieces
Edit; Also owning each ruin of power , gives bonus for each Camp your server control ? Or gives an extra point for each Caravan killed ?

I chose to transfer to lowest server in all of EU, and tbh the highest quality PvP is here. I was in Tier 2, it sucked balls compared to this. Yet, RvR in this game is a joke all in all, so really… if you want decent RvR, just go somewhere else…
IMHO:
increase gates/walls HP by 50% at base level.
- breaching them them today with ram mastery and siege mastery is really quick and easy.
soft cap the invader population in home borders by the defender population.
-this will make home maps more “fair” to low population worlds AND night capping.
promoting roaming instead of blobbing.
remove AOE damage cap but tune down the AOE damage.
AOE should cover everything in its radius but should not be as strong as single target attack.
add WvW exp for defending the objective on top of the event.
-currently capping objective is lucrative because you also gain WvW exp and loot.
while almost nobody defend objectives.
add camo kits (as traps?).
like long stealth (15 minutes), but breaks on first movement / skill activation.
and the most important:
remove the continuous link between the initiator of damage/condition and its target.
this single move will increase the quality of WWW tremendously.
