Well I played another mmo for several years ago and there you had direct contact with the GM’s and that was really useful. Here its like the new wvw maps – a dead desert without any devs.

I agree with everything you said here except.the oasis event; disclaimer= I don’t wvw that much, I mainly spvp. The oasis event are need because on Friday, saturday, Sunday or late night on weekdays, it almost impossible to break a wall due to the amount of people guarding them. Yup.
You know the funny thing about Google is that they actually make a very good “local” search engine specifically for use with forums, databases, etc. that many businesses use. A-Net should have just licensed it from them and use it instead of what they have.
These are their forums, if they suck it is because they made them suck, since they have control over the format they choose to use. Telling their players that they cannot even make forums they consider usable so they have to use someone else’s product instead is not a good sign…

Some of them games I left are still around to this day. So me leaving didn’t matter one bit. Games don’t last forever for some. They grow bored and find something new.

I don’t use reddit either, but I’ve heard that other games developer use this kind of communication too. Since the outsourcing of the match-up forum (and other sub-forums), the wvw forum went asleep. All these beggings, complains or promoting ideas in the last years are like talking against a wall. You will get no sign of reaction at all. All you can do is talking to other players, nothing more. They either agree or disagree to your post. It’s a waste of energy and time to write proposals or complains here. New times, I guess. I wouldn’t wonder if future games will do without forums.

Or maybe they could hire people who can create the site they need? You know, like other companies do all the time, like I’m pretty sure they did with this one. There is no excuse. A company communicating first (and sometimes only) through an unrelated third party site because they’ve deemed their official site inconvenient and leaving it for random consumers to find and report back here is just asinine.
These are their forums, if they suck it is because they made them suck, since they have control over the format they choose to use. Telling their players that they cannot even make forums they consider usable so they have to use someone else’s product instead is not a good sign…
These are their forums, they created and have control over the format and quality of where their players are, if they think it better to use products other than their own instead ,should the players not as well and take their business elsewhere?
ANET isn’t known for making “awesome forums”, they’re known for making awesome GAMES…

They HAVE been known for making good games. I can only speak for myself (and maybe for all the ppl that left the game for the same reasons), but with HoT i just can’t call GW2 honestly an “awsome game” any longer.
ANET ppl only using reddit is like the staff from McDonals eating at the next Burgerking, and when they are asked why, they just answer “We would love to eat in our own restaurant, but all the furniture is broken and only the drive-in is opend. But we are sure for our customers the drive in fits. If they want to sit and having their meal, i can really recomand this restaurant. The seats are verry comfortable…”
The official forums are a PART of the game. Sometimes ppl have a look at those forum before they even try the game. Those forums should be like a buisnes card… And no company would hand out cards with a wrong phonenumber, with fisures and coffee and ketchup marks on it.
