I feel like there is no idea what the players really want in WvW
I think your issues are all valid issues that more or less everyone can agree on. I just think most people are waiting to see what ANet does with these issues before they say or do anything more. If they mess up their game, well there’s plenty of competition out there and GW2 will just become another cautionary tale.
I think they are making an effort to both understand the problems, their game and create solutions that are not only logical and practical but only ones that are easily implemented.
Best thing I can tell you is be patient and lets wait see what they do. Speculation doesn’t suit the MMO world well.
80k kills and counting
All they care about is PvE, dungeons and dragons, nothing else really.

I disagree with your mindless zerg argument. Fights in T1 NA are quickly evolving into organized mobile groups of pre-setup parties syncing blast finishers and AoE stuns. Not sure how the lower tiers are but T1 definitely isn’t just mindless masses of people running headfirst into the fray.
I think one of the problems is that monetisation of WvW content is virtually non-existent, and thus, not as profitable as updates to PvE content (quaggan backpacks, anyone?).
When was the last time you (as a player of WvW) used the gemstore to buy items for or related to WvW? Quite possibly never, because such items do not exist for us. On a side note, can most of us even afford to buy gems with gold? Because I spend around 90% of my time with less than 2g due to the costs involved with WvW.
It is clear that the current visible output into matters relating to WvW are much lower than those relating to other aspects of the game – although perhaps players of sPvP share our pain. The last major update concerning WvW off the top of my head was… ballistas shooting candy canes for Wintersday.
It is also clear that their main priority for the immediate future is to squash bugs and “clean up the house” so to speak, before any major content updates arrive.

On this forum page, a dev is explaining in details what are they doing and you still whine? WHY?!
Why on earth are you crying for something that is NOT decided yet? Anyone can link me any statements regarding the AoE nerfs? WITH numbers in it?

They are not a large group of people and they are doing their best. I think wvwvw was not a high priority, but the time for changes is coming, and that is a good sign. They also said somewhere balance changes will take “babysteps” so nothing radical will happen.
I play a warrior , and i’m not much of a aoer myself, there are probably many professions variety that do little aoe, not only thieves and rangers. From my point of view, less aoe, more siege focus, and that means more strategy. There isn’t anywhere suggested that achievement progression will be deleted, they will improve on the system.
About zergs … it’s simple , join lower tire servers, and you will get tired of small encounters, or just avoid them, i don’t thinks camps get taken by zergs in higher tires.
This is still the best game in it’s genre out there, there is no “going to greener pasture”.
Finally, my own personal rant: buff bow rangers, nerf stealth abusing thieves! ( i had elaborate this in other topics, just thought to add here the super short version) .

I care a lot about Dungeons & Dragons as well, but what does it have to do with GW2?

I just want to have fun :P
Ideally with balanced server populations, and no technical issues.
A man can dream lol.
IMO, the larger issue with wvw is the scoring, people cannot get past the im winning/losing with the scores so prominent.
It MAY be interesting to consider hiding the scores from players while maintaining them on the backend for tiering purposes.
This would help with morale issues of dominated servers and could help with the “ghost town effect”.
Also, ANET can simply declare they are doing this for matchmaking purposes and people wouldnt QQ all THAT much :P
It’s not perfect but i think it’s worth spending some neural cycles on.
