I want to start a thread to get some ideas out for guild claiming and keep upgrades.
I have gathered ideas from other post and a bunch of my own ideas…

First Guild Claiming:
- At the moment I feel like this is not very well implemented and not well utilized. Every once in while a good guild will claim a keep and the buffs are great if they activate them but other then that its pretty.. meh….

Main Issues:
– Claiming a keep/tower is a race to guild claiming NPC.
– Banners show but no other information of what guild owns it… I haven’t memorized every guilds banner to even know who owns it.
– Don’t know about the buffs unless you actually visit the keep.

  • Possible Solutions **********

GUILD CLAIMING:
1. Map should display the guild that owns it under the keep/tower icon. {from other posts}

2. Maybe a little icon that shows “4 Buffs Active” or something (keep it small)

3. Not sure how to fix guild claiming (should NOT cost money) but heres a thought:
you have to bring like 100 supply to a statue that you repair (gets destroyed when the keep is lost). It would show like an event progress bar Guild 1:[XXXXXX—————] and count up till they claim it?

4. Removing supply should be lockable by the claimed guild (so they can upgrade)

5. Upgrades should cost only supply (or maybe some other currency) {from other posts}

6. Guild gains something for holding a fort. Like WvW coins, and guild influence. (leaderboards? because you can only hold 1 thing on the map i don’t think there would be too much inner server “stealing” of forts but that might be a downside of leaderboards)
– basically just something to give reason for a guild to really hold a fort (especially in matches where score is just way too off).

FORT UPGRADES and SIEGE:
6. Oil should have more HP or be resistant from more attacks. {from other posts}

7. Outmanned should spawn extra guards (like automatic guard upgrade) at all owned towers and keeps. (other team should still win, just makes it less of a roll)

8. Make arrow carts weaker but mobile. (It has WHEELS!) they do not seem to be used for offensive ever! (to counter this the oil could be stronger and mostly immune to arrows. Or fortified walls could add a small roof section near the gates (but not where they could defend efficiently from) that protect from arrow fire or something).

9. possible extra upgrade for supply camp: repair crew from supply camps (top tier upgrade). If a door/wall is damaged in the adjacent keep/tower and hasn’t been damaged for 5 or 10 minutes a repair group of NPCS will leave the camp with 100 supply and repair. If the wall is still damaged the run back to the supply camp and get more. They have an icon like dolyaks the other team knows if one has spawned.

10. upgrading the dolyaks to double supply should spawn 2 dolyaks or change the model to a dolyak with a cart behind it or something. This way you can visually tell that the dolyak is upgraded (more reason to go take that camp or interrupt them).

11. Guardian for dolyak guards upgrade that does the bubble shield. (stop insta zerging them)

12. Guards should not de-spawn immediately when the dolyak dies.

Some good ideas there buddy.

My 2cents on them:

-Yes supply should be lockable by the guild that claims the castle, because right now you have to have a guild member guarding all the supply pick up points yelling “DONT YOU DARE TOUCH THAT SUPPLY” and still players pick up the supply.. Maybe if the castle was under attack it would be automatically unlocked since there might not always be someone around to unlock it. Or if the supply limit has been full for 10-15minutes.

-Yes the upgrades should definitely cost something else than gold, right now there are so so so many money dumps in the game that this is just stupid, also with the frequency of capping castles and loosing upgrades, playing 1g for an upgrade is absurd, also makes the rich guilds even more powerful. They should cost Badges of Honor and supply or just think of some other currency for the upgrades.

-I don’t really like the arrow cart on wheels, would lead to some exploiting for sure, ppl driving their carts to impossible locations.. Some areas do need fixing though, I hate how for example mesmer can get his/hers illusion up to the “trebuchet-spot” in greenbriar from the ground level.

Other ideas seem fine too.

1. Instead of a map icon, how about give all the npc’s inside the keep the guild’s tag?

2. Does it matter if you know about the buffs while you’re not in the keep/tower? I mean, maybe for the supply camp +5 supply buff, but other than that I don’t see the point since they’re mainly defensive buffs that are only active while you’re in the keep.

3. I don’t have a problem with guild claiming as it is.

4. ABSOLUTELY!!!

5. There’s already a supply deficit usually, the way it works now is fine. Maybe give a discount if the person ordering the upgrade is part of the claiming guild though?

6. Are there really any guilds that are like, “Nah, we don’t get anything for claiming this, so we won’t bother”. I don’t really think it’s needed.

6(2) ;p. Wouldn’t make a lot of difference, as the oil will still be taken out right after the cannons are, then rams will go up. Might by the defenders a few seconds to realize what’s going on, but meh.

7. It really wouldn’t make that much of a difference. NPCs are barely a speed bump in this game to a zerg.

8. Arrowcarts are defensive weapons, with the intention of being the anti-zerg. If they were mobile, they would become the opposite of that as zergs would be running around with them. Do you really want to face the unstoppable arrowcart zerg? And God help us if they’re paired with a golem army.

9. If the nearby supply camp isn’t empty because the server hasn’t been making supply runs to repair their keep, they don’t deserve to have NPC’s do it for them.

I find guilds just claim and leave the places undefended…. I think if guilds get buffs or whatever from claiming it should be from the number of people that remain defending the keep in that guild…

Yes Tortun this is the kind of thing I’m thinking. Guild claiming doesn’t seem to be very important atm. I have seen maybe one guild use it with all the buffs. Its pretty much run the the NPC claim the keep then go OOOHHH look at our banners! then run away.

2. As for seeing which buffs are active this allows better strategy in knowing how to defend. Or contacting a guild to switch ownership to a bigger guild that can afford to use all the buffs (small but it could help and would be super easy to implement).

10. @ecwoodrow – im not proposing an hp change or anything, Just a model difference (hes supposed to be carrying twice the supplies right?) so why does he look the same. If a scout sees the dolyak is an upgraded one its going to be more important to take it out (obviously not a critical issue that needs to be addressed immediately, but I think it would add a lot).

Perhaps Guild claiming can lead to free upgrades as long as that guild remains with the position they’ve claimed. “Increased supplies from nearest supply camp – as long as it’s in the servers possession”, “Reductions in keep upgrade costs (Dependant on time spent at keep already)” that sort of thing.

I mentioned this in chat today and one guild member was like “Oh so you’re saying one guild member should leave their computer on all night?”

NO… I’m saying a guild who claim the keep should be responsible for it’s upkeep, upgrades and defence of that point on the map, if a guild goes offline or leaves the spot where that they’ve claimed the claim should wear off allowing those guilds that do want to play tactically to claim the spot tehy want to guard :P

What about having it so that if a guild has claimed an objective they can pay Guild Influence to upgrade instead of money? Nothing too drastic.

I really like the idea of rewarding the guild for holding a keep/tower if it means somebody would stay in it to shout out attacks at least. However it should probably only work if at least one guild person is inside or nearby. Right now people claim a place, put an upgrade on it, and run off with the zerg leaving places unattended for long period of time.

Guilds claiming keeps with no influence bonuses is a huge pet hate of mine. I’m sick of idiots racing to the NPC to display their pretty banner and not caring if they screw over the server in the process.

Simplest solution would be to require a guild influence item to be active for a guild to claim a keep.

when u upgrade a supply camp to lvl 82 guards,pls upgrade the supervisor also to level 82,also pls make an option where i can choose if all guards(including supervisor) are to be ranged(1200 range),mixed,or melee,
also make them all linked,so when u aggro one,all will come and all focus fire on same target(but dont chase u long distance in case u run)
also an upgrade for a camp would be nice to suround it with a wooden wall,evan if it has low hp,it still nice to have just one way that the enemies can enter
