I am not a band wagoner I am just tired of my server (kaineng) being dead and would like to actually play WvW, should I spend the 270 or so gold or will there be a free transfer like there was not too long ago iirc?

Like real life, if you want something you pay for it.

idc about paying I just don’t want to waste the gold if they’re gonna be free soon.

Imo they should revert the system and make prices based on world ranking.

A first pricing method could be based on what league you’re in and what one you’re going to.

• Gold league:
  - 2000 gems to transfer to gold from silver or bronze
  - 1600 gems to transfer to gold from gold league
• Silver league:
  - 1600 gems to transfer to silver from bronze league
  - 1200 gems to transfer to silver from silver league
  - 800 gems to transfer to silver from gold league
• Bronze league:
  - 800 gems to transfer to bronze from bronze league
  - 600 gems to transfer to bronze from silver league
  - 400 gems to transfer to bronze from gold league

Alternatively they could make pricing based on world position within the league (from 1 to 9) changed every 2 weeks.
Number 1-3 for 1600 gems
Number 4-6 for 800 gems
Number 7-9 for 400 gems

Gold league should still get a penalty in that case with a highering of prices for 400 gems. So a respective 2000, 1200 and 800 gems for the various worlds.

There wasn’t free transfers prior season 3. The last free transfer were prior season 2… If you really intent to wait for free transfers, you gonna sit in your server for a while.

Can you stop with the stupid ideas of pricing that “punish” bronze servers all day long ?
NO FRIGGING SERVER should be cheaper to transfer too, in ANY way, than a server ranked below in WvW, PERIOD.

Everything else is exactly the transfer pricing/politic problem from S2 and before that Anet made and that basically broke/killed WvW and needs to go, be shot in the back of the head, torn in pieces, and buried deep in various part of the worlds never to be seen again.

Only thing that could (maybe, and it’s more than probably too late) save WvW transfer wise is having prices recalculated every month (to avoid tanking on purpose, servers who do that over a month will lose so much people it won’t be worse it), on a WvW rank basis, with the last 3/6 servers always free, and the first 3 always full by design (ie : nobody can transfer there, or create new toons/accounts there until they aren’t in T1 anymore).

With time, if it’s CLEARLY stated and isn’t changed, people will move out of kitten play with friends, T2 servers will finally stop losing guilds to T1 servers regularily and will be able to do the recruitment they need to compete with T1, and lower servers might get the influx of people they need to go back to a level of activity pre S2 times (ie : when Bronze wasn’t a total desert 18+h a day, all weeks long).

Having Gold/Silver servers cheaper to transfer to than pretty much any Bronze server, and some Bronze servers as expansive to transfer to than T1 servers is what killed Bronze and is still hurting it right now.

The ability to keep stacking T1 (and specially SFR) is what is hurting WvW the most right now too.

Transfer according to WvW ranking (with T1 lockdown and T8/9 being free) is pretty much the only thing that could (maybe) alleviate that part of the problem (even if there is still at least 6, and probably 9, servers too many in EU, 6 in NA, since the game basically never had the people to sustain that many Servers in the first place and population dwindled a LOT in WvW).

I would argue that to get a discount, you should need to move down at least one tier, if not one league. This would prevent the servers from within a league from cannibalizing each other, too. The question, of course, is whether the goal is to even out the population across all of the servers or to stack the population on a few servers at the top.

I’m in T1 and I would jump on the opportunity to transfer down to Bronze tier if it was free or very cheap like 100 gems.

Probably not, but that this would clearly show how many would that be.

Free transfers? Doubtful. It’s a source of revenue. No business willingly cuts off sources of revenue.

before Spring 2014 Tournament (aka season 2) there were some free transfers

However, player feedback (including myself) was overwhelmingly negative on the matter because of how it was handled.

Since Anet gave us something free that usually comes after a price and that was player reaction (justified nonetheless, but still a negative reaction), I sincerely doubt they are going to hand them free again anytime soon.
