JQ 3 easy weeks in schedule, SOR 1 and BG 1?
Can anyone from Anet (or anyone who knows) elaborate on how the schedule was determined?
I completely agree with this. Blackgate and Sanctum of Rall will be burning themselves out almost every single week to try and win, meanwhile Jade Quarry will only have to put in effort for literally half of the season. How is it fair that JQ gets three weeks of easy match ups and BG/SoR only get one each? Not to mention Tarnished Coast who (no offence) only has one week where they even have a chance of winning a match up. Jade Quarry have pretty much already won Season 1 if this is going to be the schedule, so why should other servers even bother putting in overtime and working hard for a match up we will inevitably loose?

One week?
Wait…so we’re supposed to lose to SoS and Mag the second time we meet them?

It is probably an oversight and they’ll fix it if we qq hard enough.. I hope >.>
I would very much like to see this schedule redone. JQ should be pressured just as much as BG and SoR.
One week?
Wait…so we’re supposed to lose to SoS and Mag the second time we meet them?
There is no second time. This week is your only match up with SoS and Mag. Every week after this you will be at least with JQ, SoR or BG.

Personally…I dunno if you’ll see anyone from TC complain about THAT schedule.
Unless Blackgate breaks out of being the third wheel of the T1 servers as it’s recently been…we’ve got third place. =P

So, this is going to be shorter than my original post because these POS forums seem to have eaten it. Not surprised there.
The whole point of reducing the servers in Gold League from 12 to 6 was to ensure that there would be less blowout matches. Yet, even with the reduced servers, this schedule is still complete and utter bullkitten.
JQ gets 3 free wins (no offense to the #4-6 servers). While SoR and BG basically get 1 apiece. Essentially, JQ could LOSE in the matchup of the actual top 3 and still win seasons.
This is supposed to be a matchup of who is the best, yet you somehow gave the -current- #1 server by far the easiest schedule while ensuring that their closest competition got the most difficult matches in all but 1 week, including going head to head by themselves TWICE.
Nothing is lost if you change this schedule since the week just started, but if it stays the same, maybe we’ll all just log out for 7 weeks and your new “competition” for GW2 can go kitten itself.
I am absolutely floored that scheduling like this was allowed to occur. You should be absolutely ashamed of yourselves as these matchups were CLEARLY not random. There are a max of 10 unique matchups, yet we are playing the SAME matchups 3 separate times during seasons. I don’t know who told you that RNG with weighted odds was a good idea, but it is really REALLY kittenty.
Get your kitten together, ANet. Unkitteningbelievable.

The whole point of leagues in the first place is to mix up the matches as much as possible within each league. The proposed system above has the same matchup for 4 out of the 7 weeks.
If there are 3 stacked servers that clearly overpower the 3 underdog servers in a league then the problem of “easy weeks” will happen all the time, if you want to bypass it then why even have leagues in the first place. Put the top 3 together and have them fight each other forever (I think many people will be fine with this arrangement but hey variety woohoo).

Someone needs to work on their reading comprehension…
“Round 7 11/29 thru 12/5
League Red Blue Green
Gold Blackgate Sanctum of Rall Jade Quarry
Gold Maguuma Sea of Sorrows Tarnished Coast”

Hope this gets fixed soon. The most stacked server JQ gets 3 Karma-train-weeks, while BG and SOR have to fight the whole season but for one week at full trottle.

No, that is not the point of Leagues to “mix things up”. The point of Leagues is to have competition.
It is not competitive for JQ to have 3 weeks where they face neither BG nor SOR, while SOR and BG only have 1 week a piece of similar matchups.
I’m not saying that easy weeks are bad. I’m saying giving one of servers three times the easy weeks as the other two competitive servers is bad.
The only other way to schedule it evenly would be that each team gets two “easy weeks” and there is only one week (This week) where it is SOR-JQ-BG.
BG SOR and JQ should ALL have the SAME amount of competition.
Hell why not just make it so JQ never fights BG or SOR while we are at it?
Does this not make sense to anyone?
hmmm… doesn’t ANET NA people play on JQ? how odd that they would get a favorable schedule…
It’s actually in the images, just as a separate one for some reason.
ANd yeah, it probably does make sense, but is it actually mathematically possible for all three T1s to get two easy weeks each?
I mean…If JQ got three, and SoR and BG each only got one…that’s only five weeks to spread out amongst three servers.
TrZ | Stormbluff Isle
You all are just going to have to make sure that JQ comes in 3rd in the JQ/SoR/BG matches.
And no BP/SBI/FA match in silver? Come on!
(edited by Johje Holan.4607)
We don’t like getting the “easy weeks” either. It’s incredibly boring- and we’ve had so much of them, people start not even showing up in the end because there is no challenge.
Having been in both ET and JQ now, I can honestly say it’s worse having Nothing to do because you own everything, then struggling to take the smallest of points.
It’s frustrating to fight overwhelming odds, but when theres nothing to do you might as well not even play.
They probably set the first and last match and pulled names out of a hat for the rest of the matches.
Sure it is, it would work like this:
Week 1: JQ SOR BG (like now)
Week 2: JQ SOR = Easy week for BG
Week 3: JQ BG = Easy week for SOR
Week 4: SOR BG = Easy Week for JQ
Week 5: JQ SOR = Easy week for BG
Week 6: JQ BG = Easy week for SOR
Week 7: SOR BG = Easy Week for JQ
There, two easy weeks a piece.
Both my proposed schedules give Tier 1 servers an EQUAL number of easy weeks.
Either one is perfectly fine, but you cannot be giving out free points.
It doesn’t take a genius to figure out these two schedules are the ONLY way we have equal competition.
Well, here’s hoping enough people stop showing up to make them challenging again.
Short of forced destacking of servers, what else can you do?
EDIT: Problem with a schedule like that is…I think everyone wants the three way T1 fight more than once in seven weeks.
TrZ | Stormbluff Isle
Being on the 3rd strongest server for coverage in Gold League, I had no expectations to win it, but at least I thought we could get an interesting competition going.
However I did not expect an uneven draw with Jade Quarry getting 3 free wins.
There are 10 unique match ups? Then have the season go for 10 matches, it’s not hard. That’s only 3 more games.
Uh…only our league has ten unique matchups. Every other league has more….and lol, every other league is probably more competitive. sigh

Yep, that’s why I posted the first one in the top of the thread, which I think is the better of the two.
I don’t care about the finisher and I don’t care about coming in first, but the thought that JQ gets to karma train and relax for almost half of the league schedule while SOR and BG have to burn themselves out is just irritating as hell.

I dont understand how something like this didnt happen?
Edit: OR what was posted in the original post which would have been better for the t2 servers also.
It just seems logical
Jared: Umm…you wanna give Tarnished Coast four first place finishes? =S That’s almost guaranteed to screw one of the T1 servers out of third place…

Obviously it can be tweaked, but the idea behind it is that during JQ’s three easy weeks we could have had at least 2 easy weeks each amongst BG/SoR/JQ.

Your right Caroline.
Absolutely right.
I’m going to edit my initial post.
Pretty weak, Anet.
congratz to JQ for the first league champion.
The schedule has already determined that JQ wins the first leagues. Congratulations on your win JQ.
JQ probably got the easy draw due to them being ranked #1st heading into the season.
Same premise goes for when Duke gets Northeast Wyoming state at Spelunkerville* for the first week at march madness.
just my initial theory.
*made up team, don’t bother googling it.
Maybe Anet is just trolling. “Hey let’s mess with them and give the #1 ranked server the easiest schedule in Season 1 huehuehue”.
Edit – To me, it really illustrates how little thought they put into this stuff sometimes. Somebody probably scratched out the schedule on a beer napkin while gobbling up some chicken wings at Hooters.

Since the first place is already obvious, it will be a good fight for the second place.
Clearly who made this schedule don’t know anything about the current state of WvW. It blows my mind how this basic mistakes pass without getting notice by the staff.
Anyway the whole point of the WvW season was to make some quick money with the transfers. I don’t blame them tho … if they don’t want to do an expansion, the money have to come from somewhere.
Jared: Umm…you wanna give Tarnished Coast four first place finishes? =S That’s almost guaranteed to screw one of the T1 servers out of third place…
I wouldn’t be surprised if many T1 WvWers feel this way:
I don’t care about the finisher and I don’t care about coming in first, but the thought that JQ gets to karma train and relax for almost half of the league schedule while SOR and BG have to burn themselves out is just irritating as hell.
Either of the two Schedules the OP suggested are more balanced than the one ANet implemented. In the second one things are more fair/balanced overall but with less competitive actual matches.
The one in the OP might give TC “second place” but everybody knows the 3 T1s are stronger and it is more of a “consolation prize” and having the “big 3” go head-to-head 4 times would really decide that.
The actual schedule ANet came up with however is just kitten.
As a BG native, im going to have to agree. Im honestly confused with the schedule since its been proven it can be broken a bit more fairly.
I just hope things can be reconsidered.
Yeah, they need to make the schedule more balanced. Seeming as JQ has been buying guild’s and such I don’t see why they should have 3 super simple weeks, were the rest of us have only 1 or 2.
who cares?? JQ will be bored to tears, while BG and SOR get to have some epic battles. The only real victims r servers 4-5-6.
SOR
The schedule for SFR is actually the same in EU — 3 ‘easy’ weeks. We have no idea which server out of the three is the strongest with recent transfers (SoR majorly boosted their EU and OCX) so saying right now that any one server is going to win is just crazy o.o

U r saying. U won’t win those 3 easy weeks ?
Also, think of it this way.
There are 35 possible points for League, 7 first places.
With this schedule, JQ is being given 15 of them right at start.
You guys are hilarious.
Complaining on that you will actually have people to fight against in more matchups than we have?
Hard for me to say, but for once i agree with Sykkob
lol….

I dont know about anyone else but my battles are gonna feel a little less epic if I know the outcome of the season before its halfway through…

That’s a good point.
The real winners might be SoR and BG. As long as you don’t care about kittening rewards or being in “first”.

Maybe we wanna play with JQ too </3
JQ may take first, but it won’t actually mean anything. I’m still more disappointed by the Bloodlust stomp point nerf. That’s what really bugs me.

It’s the first WvW Season in Guild Wars 2, so regardless of what anybody tells me, I know everybody wants to win this and be the first victors. Sure we might get some great fights, but people also want their effort to go towards something, and the fact that SoR and BG are already at a huge disadvantage regardless of how much effort they put in is utterly ridiculous.
Blackgate | Knîghtmare [KnM] | Knights of the Temple [KnT] | Attuned [Att]
Well since we know that SoR can be such great “politicians” when it comes to “Server Diplomacy” the question now is:
Can SoR and BG put aside their age-old emnity to 2v1 JQ into 3rd Place in both of the “Big 3” Matches?
