I don’t want to win I want to enjoy the community we had. Splitting TC into VoIP and not VoIP has been something I’ve opposed since day one.
I will still be around hoping for good things come February but the state of our WvW community and the state of the game is not helping.
Go ahead and yell at me in game I’ve put in my weeks and months.
Can I hug you instead? :-)
I think that TC’s problem is that some people want this to be a T1 WWW server, with chains of command and common communication networks and daily meetings and what not.
Most of TC is not like that. Most are a group of people for who WWW is fun by itself by itself, not just when we win.
Lately there has been attempts by some to become a pro-WWW server. To be a pro-server you need (due to game mechanics) a zerg-only mentality where people follow orders.
This is never gonne happen on TC. The sooner everyone in TC realises that, the better.
So, no, Coral, I won’t yell at you for voicing the opinion of alot of people on this server. I will yell at your side.
We can make signs and stuff!
Can the signs have bunnies on them?
I ain’t TC, but can I have buttons with ponies on them?
I feel bad for my TC friends, I knew you guys were thrilled when BG left because you’d be in a way more even matchup and wouldn’t be nightcapped into oblivion every night.
It honestly didn’t seem so bad until this week when you guys really started getting all the bandwagoners :/
Soo many new guilds from SoR we’ve never seen before and a lot of them dropped like flies but just kept coming. You guys may be in the running for the next “zombie” nickname
yea it was fun until this week started, then its just full bandwagon every corner u turn is a huge zerg waiting to take a supply camp lawl..its becoming pathetic.

To all of the TC’ers who are complaining about the current disparity in numbers I would like to remind all of you that what you are experiencing now is exactly what Crystal Desert went through when the two servers shared the same tier. That is not a hostile remark by any means – it is a fact (CD did have a superior Oceanic crew though). Also, you should not be disgruntled because players are apparently transferring en masse. Blame Anet for not addressing the situation sooner.
Once the “paid” transfers happen there will certainly be a shakeup within all tiers. This will settle down soon enough. I’m actually looking forward to static server populations in the very near future.
From what I saw last night TC shouldn’t be too worried. You guys still have a great NA presence and your tenacity has not diminished one iota. Best of luck to you guys.
just a question, u transferd from CD to SOR ?

Yes, the week after TC moved up into tier 2 I transferred to SoR. Once I heard about and researched the story behind the server name I decided that SoR was the place for me. That and I knew a few people from Rift rolled here.
Haiku FTW
Right now mos.millenium.org predicts that SOR will be heading to T1 next week. Keep it up guys and gals. I look forward to seeing you there.
according to http://mos.millenium.org/matchups#NA
we ll be seeing BG again in T1.
Its probably best to reserve judgments until after mid week at least. Its fresh in the week so there shouldn’t be enough data points to accurately gauge the current weeks rating outcomes.
This is not fun, and I am on SOR. I originally joined because I I heard about the story about how the server got its name and have loved every minute of it so far until now. There have always been a ton of friendly guilds and helpful people, one of the first things I saw in chat was a guy in Queensdale offering welcome gifts to lowbies. And I love how SOR has a public Mumble and raidcall server for coordination. But I don’t want to be on a server full of last minute band-wagoners and glory-hounds, and WvWvW is not fun when you are just roflstomping everyone and hold the entirety of EBG and zerg around with what seems like 50+ people all the time. People just get instagibbed and it is just a huge messy clusterkitten. I don’t really want to transfer off but I might have to if this mismatch keeps on going on.. Any T3-T4 servers out there with a comparable community to SOR and in a balanced bracket =/
Please stop with the last minute bandwagoners stuff. Many of the guilds that joined this week were invited to join our community. You say that when you joined SoR that you were welcomed with gifts, it’s time for you to pay that forward. welcome the new transfers into the community with gifts just like you were welcomed.
Kinda contradicting statements there? (in bold)
Not complaining here either, it is what it is, just, ya know, don’t kid yourself. CD would routinely cap half or more of the map with that superior (numerically) Oceanic crew. TC isn’t in position (numerically) to cap half the map at any time of the day currently, SoR’s NA prime crew could already match or beat ours.
There’s nothing I can say that hasn’t already said in a better way by others in this thread. I’ll put down some of my own thoughts though:
- I’m actually hoping that TC keeps getting smashed by SoR and loses with such a huge margin this week that the server hoppers who joined TC when it made its sharp move up for T6 to T2 leave TC before paid transfers kick in for elsewhere, preferably BG or SoS. :p I wouldn’t wish them on SBI or SoR. We seem to have attracted a few people with plain sour attitudes ourselves.
- A morning in the last week ago I saw someone wearing the tag of one of the more respected guilds on TC outright insult, abuse and heckle a teammate in WvW map chat for a good 30 minutes because the guy at the receiving end actually called strategy when nobody stepped up to lead in the absence of commanders in EB and we lost a keep. The guy dishing out the abuse didn’t squeak during the defense, but the vitriol he poured out after was astounding. I’m not going to name the person or the clan (lets just say this guild’s name comes up frequently whenever anyone distributes accolades for TC). This experience left a bad taste in my mouth.
This would have never happened when TC was T4/T5.
- TC didn’t attract anything in terms of the PvP guild transfers which Kaineing, SoR, etc have recently benefited from, but we did attract some idiots though. If TC can be rid of its kitten, even if the server drops a tier or seven, I’ll be happy PvPing for a very very long time, rankings be kitten Its a great community here. We’re marred not just by being a T3 server facing the prospect of facing a succession of T1 servers in T2, but out own (small number of) bad attitudes.
- The tier system is designed so as to encourage guilds to move up the ladder and measure their fun that way. People need goals. My hope for TC was T3, to be one of the top 9 servers in WvW one day. We have achieved that with some margin and very fast. I am very happy.
- There are some fantastic people on every server I’ve played against. Yes, even Blackgate. However long we play SoR and SBI for, I personally have nothing but respect for everyone on your servers. Yes, even the (I bet newcomers) who danced on my corpse last night after I went for an attack solo vs 7, SoR. There’s always a couple of jerks everywhere.
- Every server in the game has PvPers who are as skilled as any on another server. There’s something to be said about individual skill and team co-ordination, but size of the PvP base will always be the limiting factor on skill. TC beat the likes of YB and FA to move up the ladder not because Coasters are more skilled, but because we had more numbers over a 24 hour period. That’s just the way things go. I’m happy for SoS, JQ, BG, SoR that they have far better numbers and coverage than TC.
- TC’s place seems to be in T3 or T4, not T2. The same goes for SBI. There’s a huge gap between T5/T6 and T3/T4 and again between T3/T4 and T1. Things won’t be very fun for a lot of Coasters for some time, unless the volatility in server movements up and down the tier increases.

SoR has had a lot of transfers to SoR and there will probably be more coming.
We get it, things are not balanced right now for T2 at all.
At this rate depending on how the score goes we might end up in T1 as early as next reset. In which we will be losing the coverage game, we know this and are ok with it.
We will probably end up with 375k to 450k points by Friday which is gonna be pretty massive rating change, depending on how BG does, you may see them again which we all remember had pretty good coverage. Not sure how many guilds they may have picked up either.
Sanctum of Rall
The majority of players never get to experience what it’s like to be in a good guild, which is unfortunate. These are the players that go to whatever server is winning. They aren’t fair weather players anymore then anyone else, they just haven’t found out yet that the solution to winning and having fun in this game is to get into the right guild.
Could not disagree more.

If you weren’t going to name names, then you shouldn’t bring it up to begin with. As it is now, it’s just going to leave everyone reading this (from TC) guessing and likely start a bunch of rumors. And also, everyone who says “People only started yelling when we got into T2” makes me question if they ever WvWed when TC was in T4/5. Relatively, the community has gotten much much better since then. The chat in /team /map has no more yellers now than it did when we were in T3. The only difference is people notice and harp on it more because we’re not winning.
This is a very delicate time for WvW across all servers, with most servers doing their best to attract as many solid WvW guilds to them as possible. TC is the only server in the top 3 tiers actively driving them away. Which is fine I guess, but everyone lives with the consequences.

I didn’t say that my experience was the norm, it was an exception, which I’ve noticed since we got into T2. I used to example to illustrate the fact that TC has a few bad apples too and my anecdotal experience is that we didn’t have those earlier.
For the specific example, I didn’t think to take screenshots at the time to forward to the guild leader; I will be sure to do that next time. Without screenshots, I’m not going to accuse anyone by name. But my example still stands as an illustration of a problem.
I don’t see how you go from that to implying that I’m driving WvWers away from TC. Or do you think most people are so delusional they really think that there aren’t kitten on every server and that the number of kitten in WvW seems to be not proportional to the server’s standing in the rankings?
And sorry, I don’t agree with you that I shouldn’t say anything at all unless I take names. If you think I’m actively trying to damage our server using a figment of my imagination, I can’t help your point of view.

Fun fights in the TC BL at Woodhaven ( or whatever it’s called on that map), and Godsword. You guys defended the tower well. I appreciate the fact that you sacrifice yourselves on the alter of killing siege so I can farm bags.

I completely agree. Yak’s Bend had some fantastic PvPers. Very poor coverage, but they fought very well and used some hilarious tactics. Those guys were the ones I’ve fought against who seemed to be in it most at all for the fun and were skilled to boot.

You didn’t say it was an exception either until this reply. Either way, there was zero reason to post it on a public forum, and doubly so to do so, then say you weren’t going to name names, then drop a ton of hints. Even without screenshots, every WvW guild leader/officer on TC would be willing to hear you out and investigate. Lastly, I guess using the word “actively” may have been a stretch, but very few guilds want to go to a server that prefers to be in lower tiers and complains frequently about how bad their community has gotten and how it didn’t used to be this way, which, by the way, I still don’t agree with. You also shouldn’t feel like that’s directed completely at you either, because it isn’t – plenty of people have been doing it and it really is counterproductive.
In the end, everyone can post what they want to, all I’m giving is my two cents on why it may not be great for the server.

Many in the WvW community have been reaching out to a good amount of the guilds for months, not only a week, but months on trying to get people and guilds to join SoR who wanted a nice community, teamwork, and such for WvW coverage gaps.
Who were they invited by:
Multiple guilds part of the WVW community.
What Authority:
Same as you have to sit here and bash them, or anyone.
Invitation:
Many were invited well before any of the guilds were in the same tier bracket. Though many hadn’t made any decision at the time. Also many transfers into SoR guild wise, were from servers outside of Tier 2.
————————————-
Also another thing, none of the guilds have really said they only wanted to join to win. However what has attracted many of them is the community. They were wanting a community to be a part of like SoR has.

It’s great how the servers respect each other enough that there is really minimal inter-server ribbing even in the face of a lopsided matchup. So much so that most of the arguments are now between server-mates!
I think everyone should be free to express what they feel about the server. If it’s negative, putting it out in the open might help to resolve it. TC has a strong heart – we may go through tough times like now, but I still believe ultimately everyone on the server no matter “hardcore” or “casual” values the kind of community and spirit we’ve built up through the months and are all in for the long haul. Those that don’t have probably long fled to the big boy servers, after all!
The score might be lopsided, but there was good fighting in EB today.

You’ve jumped on me and made some thinly veiled accusations of me not having fought for TC down the tiers, of exercising poor judgement, of pulling stuff out of thin air etc. I don’t feel compelled to wave pom poms about everything and I’m not inclined to view everything as a PR exercise.
Feel free to have the last word. I’m done arguing with you.

A tier up or down you mildly advantage one server and mildly disadvantage another. Same server transfer and the advantage and disadvantage are doubled. So our victories now are a bit tainted now. Especially when it seems to have happened en mass. So make that a lot tainted, if not exactly evil. And it certainly gives us a distorted view of our worth.

TCer here, there’s really nothing wrong with what happened with SOR. This is gonna be last hurrah for free transfers and you can’t fault these guilds for finding a permanent home. Its not evil nor should it be called tainted. Its just how it is, some guilds had done the same in TC and I bear them no grudge. Im just praying to the golem gods to make some more room for our server next week so that people who’s been waiting for months would be able to join us.
As for what’s happening within TC right now, im blaming that to the upper tier blues. Screw the politics, if we pull through this, then Im confident that our server will be the most stable of them all. It’s not gonna be strongest, it wont be the most organized nor will it have the most coverage, but it’ll be the most stable of em all. Ill take that over anything else.
Hang in there TC.

guilds had to do what they felt they had to do given the circumstances.
My solution would have been to go to this site and roll a d20. As there’s 24 servers in the NA bracket, I’d remove four of them — but which four?
Obviously I wouldn’t include my home server (in this hypothetical scenario, Stormbluff Isle), and I wouldn’t feel proud of myself if I were to transfer into Tier 1, so I’d skip all three of those servers as well. That’d cut the list down to size, and I’d be ready to set up.
I’d arrange the names of the servers alphabetically, and then place them into this list randomizer. I’d randomize the list a total of seven times (as a nod to shuffling cards), and then once thoroughly satisfied with the randomness of my list, roll my virtual die.
For the sake of this hypothetical, I have proceeded to do exactly as I’ve described above. My list therefore appears as such:
1. Northern Shiverpeaks
2. Sanctum of Rall
3. Isle of Janthir
4. Ferguson’s Crossing
5. Fort Aspenwood
6. Sorrow’s Furnace
7. Henge of Denravi
8. Gates of Madness
9. Eredon Terrace
10. Devona’s Rest
11. Ehmry Bay
12. Anvil Rock
13. Crystal Desert
14. Yak’s Bend
15. Dragonbrand
16. Tarnished Coast
17. Darkhaven
18. Maguuma
19. Borlis Pass
20. Kaineng
Rolling my virtual d20 resulted in a 19, and so my guild would be transferring to Borlis Pass. Borlis Pass has a strong community and pride themselves on their campaign to bring the PvE audience on their server into WvW, rather than poaching off of other servers via the forums. Knowing that a surprise transfer would encourage their efforts and philosophy, I would feel at ease moving to a server as fine as Borlis Pass.
I would then encourage other players on other servers to randomize their own lists based off of their own circumstance, and to roll their own d20. For example, a guild leaving the server Isle of Janthir may decide to exclude Sea of Sorrows, Jade Quarry, Kaineng and obviously themselves from their lists — they may have a fond memory of their time against Blackgate and be willing to assist them against SoS and JQ, while they may also feel dirty about joining servers already enjoying population booms.
Granted, this entire scenario is hypothetical as I am happy on Tarnished Coast and have never been a part of Stormbluff Isle. I personally would have chosen to randomize my location as randomization tends to lend itself to a more equal population dispersion, or at least more equal when compared to a mass of guilds from one server moving to another server in the same tier.
Also before it’s commented on, I’m not bitter and this isn’t complaining. I’m just disappointed in this week’s match getting nuked.

Shout out to PINK and AL for being out there doing their thing regardless of the situation.

Appreciate what you said, this week is indeed very frustrating for TC.
I’m just curious, and I’m not attempting to be inflammatory, but I keep reading many people moved because of issues with the community on their server. Isn’t it everyone’s responsibility on a server to help their community, rather then abandon it? I can’t imagine a guild with 400 members can’t assist with creating a better community. I would personally find it intimidating to see a guild of 400 people show up in WvW!! Cuz.. HOLY KITTEN!!
My take is: Its just a rum thing to do, shows lack of character, call it what you will, but nobody owes a debt to anyone. I wouldn’t move servers ever myself regardless of TC’s position on the ladder or how outnumbered we are in WvW, but then I didn’t move to GW2 with any friends I’d been playing games with for years.
I imagine that if the leader of the guild I played for a few years in, had friends in who I had known for many years, decided against my best advice that the guild should leave for another server, I would face a choice – do the honorable thing by nameless people (who I didn’t know how many of would still play even if I stayed) OR decide that its a game, its for fun and move servers to continue to play with my friends.
Much like in real life, these decisions show character, but I can’t really look down on people for taking the easy, fun way. Its just human. I bet a bunch of transferees were teamstackers out for ‘teh win lolz pwnt’ cowadooty types but a decent amount are also people just trying their best to hang on to the relationships they feel they have online.
Its just a rum situation for a lot of servers on the receiving end of desertions and/or unbalanced tiers because of them. But such is life. It’ll sort itself out in time and we’ll all reach a new balance. I’m sure new players will continue to trickle into the game, without any of the baggage of disappointments some existing WvWers have these days.
On balance I’d rather people do whatever they have to, to continue to enjoy the game rather than quit. If that means moving even though they know its not the honorable thing to do, so be it.

I personally have spent little time in wvw this week, and feel the sourness of SBI and TC in the forums in a matchup that was previously fun and had a good energy.
We’ve been there, for a long time even, not saying that to invalidate your feelings but to express crystal clear understanding.
Sanctum of Rall
There are no major issues happening in TC currently. There is no mass exodus/influx of guilds. This is just being blown out of proportion. TC is still the same server it was a week ago and before that a month ago.
A server that has been rising through the ranks steadily and improving day by day, week by week with our core population. We have not got to where we are due to population booms. We are going to continue doing what we do.

Here’s a pipe dream:
SoR, you guys are going to win this week. No one has any doubts about that. Would you guys be cool with your guilds running skeleton crews on Thursdays so that you can come party with us instead?
I’m not saying “stop pushing us qq” — I’m saying that I’d like to give everyone a chance to recharge their batteries and to have some fun. I’m sure that there are people on SoR that are bored to tears by this match-up. I’m also sure that there are people on SBI that are burned out from weeks of rough matches.
So let’s dedicate Thursdays as party day for as long as our three servers are together. SoR guys, you benefit by getting your fill of duels and small-scale skirmishes, of costume brawling, and so on. SBI and TC, we benefit by having a chance to breathe a little bit and to goof off with our friends on SoR. All in all, it’s a chance to make light of a painful match-up and to foster a little bit of good sportsmanship and camaraderie between our servers.
Okay, cool, now that I’ve written down the one thing that is most likely not going to happen and gotten it out of my system, let’s go ahead and get back to the grind. Just do me a favor: not the face.
Edit:
To those on all three servers that joined in the great golem jumping puzzle celebration, thanks for the silliness. Was a fun change of pace from a normal weekend night.
That’s how TC sieges the JP
I would love to see sanctioned Guild Golem battles/duels take place between TC/SoR/SBI guilds. We could even make a tournament out of it to find out which server’s guilds are the best at.. well I suppose golem dueling lol.
We could even be good sports about it and agree to “dismantle” the golems after each match-up.

Sorry for the double post =P
But this one caught me after I posted.
Taking the easy way would be staying in T2 to fight TC. Moving to T1 to go from big dog to underdog is definitely the more fun thing to do.
No one moved to SoR to stomp TC or SBI, they came to test themselves with us in T1 versus the top servers which are not easier and have more coverage.

This. Not only will SOR be fighting servers with the largest WvW populations, they will be fighting the servers themselves. Right now when Legendary Thor [HB] swings his mighty hammer against the legions of Green and Blue heathens the very foundation of EBG shudders. Denizens of Stonemist are left frozen in awe as hundreds swarm their lords quarters, thirsting for digital blood.
You’ll be doing nothing but auto attacking.
The lag is kitten terrible.
@Mishi
I respected everything until you fed us until this last paragraph about none of the guilds moving saying anything about wanting to win. Seriously? Be honest. They want to win. If they wanted a community, they would join just about any other server below tier 2.
Funny thing is myself and some of the other active WvW community people, have spent months speaking to many guilds via messages on this forum, in game, and various team speaks trying to get players and guilds to fill the gaps in SoR wvw times.
We spoke to philipino alliances, Brazillian, Korean, European, Chinese, and many many more. Had many scouts on SoR though once their guilds put it to vote many weren’t into coming, even if their leaders and scouts wanted to come. (Most were afraid of the ping issues playing on NA bracket and not EU bracket.)
Heck back when SoR was rank 17 we started talks with guilds and players, yeah all the way back then.
At one point the alliance which left IoJ wanted SoR NA to leave SoR and all of us group on EB server along with 200 EU players who were going there from the EU WvW bracket. (We were trying to get that alliance on SoR but they wanted us on IoJ then they talked the EU guilds into EB since it wasn’t listed as “full” while at the time both IoJ and SoR were, however SoR NA refused to move, and IoJ alliance moved, leaving IoJ less players and they fell to T3 where as EB is climbing the bracket now.)
So once again you can believe it or not, however some of us have spent many months speaking to many people, and guilds trying to recruit for SoR.
Want me to be honest, I did.
If you don’t want to believe me, then don’t.
If you do want to believe me, then do.
Can’t and wont force you.
All I can do is be honest which I have been.
Plus most the guilds who transferred to SoR recently I have spoken to. Each of the ones I’ve spoken to never mentioned only being on SoR for the “win”. Also many of them are aware we will probably get nailed hard when we get into Tier 1. We have a general consensus that it will not be “easy” or a “walk in the park” no matter how strong we seem in Tier 2.
Also sceptus.9415 for the past 24hours, TC has been listed as a full server. So I am willing to bet when server caps were increased other joined TC, even if not huge guilds, or alliances. Along with other servers listed as “full” so it’s not only SoR which has gained members on their servers. (Just something for you to think about.)

I brought up the idea of quaggan army times.
Someone this morning on TS3 brought up the idea of having everyone play a low level character, like 1 day all mesmers, 1 day all theives, ect…
Just for fun.
Though I don’t know if anyone will or not.

I wish it were possible to explain to disturbingly proud S’s OB’s who /laugh after defeating you that the only reason they won was because you lagged for 3 seconds. ;p

Yeah, you’re right. They didn’t join SoR for winning, they actually want the excitement of being in T1 again.
I can’t really blame them. The issues that SBI had were very faint and unrelenting, but the whole free transfers ending just accelerated the whole thing.
In truth, I can only speak for myself when I said that SBI is just tired of the unbalanced matchups we’ve been going through. We just no longer have the motivation or the numbers to keep up with other servers. It’s probably better for us to drop tier and rebuild, with what we have left anyway.
The only question is, will it do so? We seriously hope not to be like HoD.
HoD are in a happy place now, I think. Took 3 months, but they won their tier. And are doing well in it this week as well I think.
I also agree that it’s poor form to characterize the guilds that mass shifted to SoR. We don’t know what has been going on behind the scenes as Mishi said. They could be bandwagoners, they could have been engaged in serious discussion and genuinely like the community, they could like the server name, or they could have rolled a freaking dice. Nobody knows. It’s not really fair to anyone to generalize when we know so little.
I’m also sure that there are people on SBI that are burned out from weeks of rough matches.
I’m sure this week’s match is already wearing a bit thin with some people, especially our commanders who are trying to put points on the board. However, we’re winning a lot of fights out there. We just don’t have the resources available to hold many objectives on the map. Doing well in open field fights is going to have to be enough for awhile, at least while we’re up against a server with such a large WvW presence.
And now a couple of pics from a fight earlier tonight to encourage our fellow SBI soldiers. Don’t give up, there’s still plenty of fun to be had…
