I’m not fully up on the politics… why would SoR go for revenge against SoS? Revenge for what?

I wouldn’t say revenge as much as I would say rivalry. It’s been a while since our super close matches of the past, and many of us are looking forward to some equally fun matches when we meet again.

Personally I had a blast playing against SoR. It was the first time I saw the kind of strats you’d expect to see in the top tiers. Excellent server.

JQueue won this week, but was it really a victory? Did you fight hard for every tower and keep? Was your lead threatened and you had to put in the extra hours till your eyes hurt? Did you ever think to yourself i dont know who is going to win its so close? Do we have enough points to last the hours our forces dwindle?

Another thing why JQueue may fizzle, why did i transfer to a server i can not even play on. You have had dozens of guilds thats member numbers can be in the 100s transfer and you dont think that this is a problem?
I just hope that some of the regulars can step a foot in on Fri night.
Get in early JQueuers because you may not get a chance till later in the week.

I’m sure hearing anyone from SoS moaning about lack of coverage and being outnumbered anytime is sweet sweet music to the entire Gw2 community. It is to me most assuredly.

I have been critical of coverage winning over skilled gameplay as soon as I became aware of it. In the night capping thread I posted about my belief (playing on a server that would full cap maps) that night capping, while fair (people all over the world play the game) it certainly wasn’t fun – for either side. I’ve also claimed for a long time that one of the biggest reasons SoS was able to win first and maintain first place for so long was because they had the strongest Oceanic presence in the game, in fact most SoS players posting on the forums (in spite of doubts from their opposition) that SoS would remain tier one without a certain guild that left because of their solid coverage and that the guild that left was a drop in the bucket compared all the things the server still had. I never said it was their right to win, or that they worked harder for the win, or that they won because of superior organisation or because their players were outright better. When you can have more people that can play across more time zones than your opponent, you are going to win.

So if you think the discussion about the importance of coverage and numbers, the impacts of player distribution amongst servers and the consequential imbalance it causes in the match and the overall health of tier one, if you think any of that is new, or that I have suddenly adopted a new stance or am saying new things now that JQ is the strongest server, you haven’t been paying enough attention in the forums.

It was a setup all along.

So far, JQ and SoS are untested against each other at full strength. The first week, it was blackouts and not being able to move people over; this week has been Holidays/Natural disasters/burnout. This next reset should hopefully see where we line up against each other.

SoR is the wild card here, but I gotta say, entering t1 in second place is like being the meat in a pain sammich. I say this from experience, having been second place, well, a lot.

OK, this is getting pointless but I want to ask… Two to three weeks ago before the mass transfers started, NA prime time JQ on weekdays, had queues in 2 borderlands.. How was SOS queue times back then? SOS had higher ppt in aussie time, and NA time for weeks, so I think it is safe to assume you had more people relatively before all this. Would you not call this stacked? I agree that we(JQ) are stacked at the moment especially with some of SOS guys practically giving up(when I log on during non prime time and I notice a lot less SOS), but saying that SOS wasn’t stacked before is nonsense.

If you are going to pull out the “our commanders and guilds didn’t sleep/played for 16 hours a day” card, I can say the same for JQ pre-mass-transfer. This was when I played WvW for 16 hours a day for the whole month of December. I saw the same commanders and players throughout the day. Unless people were taking shifts on these characters, they probably put amount the same amount of effort as their SOS counterparts did.

You can’t exactly say a server is stacked because its stacked during one prime time??? SOS was only stacked in Aussie prime time, nothing else. JQ was stacked in SEA prime time and EURO prime time compared to SOS.

Before transfers, SOS Aussie prime time ppt = JQ SEA prime time ppt, they cancelled out each other server point gains.

After transfers, SOS Aussie prime time ppt < JQ SEA prime time ppt by a pretty big margin.

You can’t deny the fact that JQ got a lot more hardcore WWW guilds.

Well duh, nobody could pass up the 1,000gold per guild we offered! OR, they just wanted to be on a server with a good stable wvw pop that could handle the inevitable dramatic ups and downs of wvw. It appears they made a fantastic choice.

Also we knew this was going to happen and SoS would react this way. That is why last week I posted on our internal server forums that all those JQ players returning from holiday “leave” (we hope you enjoyed the holidays please all pay100gp for the new xfers…) should be prepared for some hatred from some servers if our zerg appeared to be as big or bigger than theirs.

You think SBI players left their server (of which many of them were fiercely proud of before it was a sinking ship) and joined JQ (the new power server, also in tier 1 where SBI players wanted to be) because JQ met with them are they thought you were all such nice people? They had many weeks of meeting you before their server was knocked out of tier one. They only transferred once they knew they would be stuck where they went to and once they knew the server they chose was the favourite to dominate. They might like your guilds, but if your guilds were on Eredon Terrace in last place and they knew even if they transferred they would remain there, I seriously doubt they would have come over.

Excuse me but you are not from SBI, you are not one of the guilds that transferred from SBI to JQ, so how would you know why we transferred. You don’t.

@ picking JQ because we thought they were going to be/get stacked?. That is the reason SF didn’t go to SoR or SoS. We knew even before talking to JQ leaders that their NA lacked numbers compared to SoS because we fought against them both for so long.

SF and PRX were the first to announce moving to JQ and it happened within hours of each other and neither knew each other were even considering moving to JQ. Correct me if I’m wrong but what guilds transferred to JQ prior to those two that would have lead us to believe JQ was a powerhouse? And don’t say Red Guard, they made it clear they were going back to Euro after some NA T1 playtime. Or if you are referring to the other SBI guilds that transferred to JQ after we did. Most of those guilds are SF’s friends. Most of them we have been wvw-ing with each other since HoD days. We told them we were transferring to JQ and they discussed it with their guilds and some came with us to JQ and some went to other servers.

All of the SBI guilds that left were tired of wvw-ing on a server that didn’t want to wvw. Our 8-10ish wvw guilds could fill out 1.5 borderlands during NA primetime. Most wvw guilds could field about 5-20 people on an almost nightly basis, a couple could field 30+. Most of our forces/guilds where on SBI map, leaving one map completely empty and one map where 1-2 guilds could maybe flip and hold something if a major attack wasn’t going down on our home map. and EB was lead by a few commanders and the majority were pugs not in a voice com. We were maintaining T1 rank like this for many months even before WM left(who would be not active for weeks at a time in wvw prior to their departure from SBI).

Those are facts. Your post is a perception you have of what happened. Why you decide to post this on a public forum where guilds you are talking about read I have no idea. Think we wouldn’t notice?

What part of what I said is trolling? Your statement is the exact template of what I stated and is absolutely correct; however, it’s as I’ve stated, a template. People has been calling out to “other individuals” on “other servers” to fight regardless of score or disadvantageous situations since the beginning of WvW. The idea is noble; being repetitive about it, however, is far from inspiring.

I think it’s time to shut down these baseless claims coming from people who have no idea what is going on. Wondo is correct. We are noticing , and I assure you that those of us who transferred, did so for much different reasons than the rumors being posted on these forums.
I was one of the first that decided to move to JQ in my guild, even when the rest were scouting other servers. One thing I have learned in my many years of gaming is this.
Servers , and or factions, are indeed people. This game is new, we are still all finding our commonalities, so to speak. So even though our server fought against JQ for many months, most of us saw in JQ what our server lacked.
They didn’t offer us gold to transfer, that’s probably the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen posted.
Since I’ve been on this server, I have seen a great sense of community. That is what I expected, and I have not been disappointed. Even without a commander on the map, this sever still comes together to get things done.
We used to call JQ JQQ, but I have seen more QQ from every other server posting on this thread as of late than all of the QQ ever from JQ.
So suck it up, and get your server in order.

Score update! I have a suspicion SOS might actually beat BG to the line…. things are getting interesting for second place…

SOS is not fighting to her full potential this week, this much is obvious. Reasons are varied, for our guild, we are getting some well-deserved rest. If we are going to give JQ the match they deserve, then we should be at our peak as well, and apparently it’s been a consensus that this isn’t the week to do so.

We can all claim that our server has the best community. The fact that we defend our servers vehemently in the forums says a lot about loyalty. But the people who are able to take a step back and be objective in the way they respond and carry their server’s name are the ones that are truly admirable.

Kinda sad that most of the Blackgate guilds are taking a break till reset. While this makes sense in a long run, I really thought we are able to go for 2nd this week, up till Wednesday it was looking good.
People keep claiming that they play for fun and the thrill of wvw, yet looks like the result matters to us more. As we are clearly not going to have this tier setup next week, could have enjoyed our last week against JQ and SoS.

I thought they fixed Culling? Its actually worse now. You took a commanderless group of pugs and it took you like 4 hours and JQs constant help ( as always) Nice golem rushes on our keep, maybe just a weee bit more practice on that.

Here’s what BG pugs did in about 25 minutes and didn’t have SM, right after this, half the group logged off. We even fended off JQ in SM for about 3 zergs while you PvPdoored Anz and Mendon and that’s where it stopped for about 2 hours

I wouldn’t say revenge as much as I would say rivalry. It’s been a while since our super close matches of the past, and many of us are looking forward to some equally fun matches when we meet again.

If your from SOR, a word of warning. BG pretty much played themselves out of staying in Tier 1 next week because of their rivalry with SOS. If they had of played smart last week and targetted JQ, BG would have finished in second place and gained some points. This week they are going to miss pushing SOS out of tier 1 by 30 points, which they could have made by playing for second place last week. To elaborate on this, SOS commanders were instructing to leave BG alone and avoid them and target JQ because it was obvious they were the bigger threat.

That said, Im yet to see a server play smart like this. Just know that a “rivalry” can come back to bite you like it just has for BG. And in all honesty, I don’t see BG getting much Tier 1 again for a while. Especially with Kain coming to Tier 2 in another week and FA becoming a stronger unified force.

So… what you’re saying is that BG didn’t go along with a full on double team effort? Kudo’s to them then. I’m looking forwards to their return, we’ve had some great fights with them.

Words can’t describe how much I am looking forward to the reset tonight. It’s going to be awesome fights.

We haven’t seen SoS in a long time. Hope they are just as good of people as when we faced them the other times. Lots of open field fights, good strats and mutual respect from both servers.
I know JQ is a completely different JQ then before I transferred to SoR so I’m excited to face them. Sounds like they have bolstered their NA Prime time presence so it’s going to be 3 NA Giants facing off after reset.

Now lets just hope our newborn cooperates so I’m not AFK all night tending to her.

This reset night should be Epic… SoS had nothing to play for this week, once the full reset announcement came out…

Just because you’re down by points doesn’t mean you should stop fighting.
If you are playing for the epic fights then siege helps create epic fights.

Hell if you don’t place siege because you know you are going to lose then SoR should have never used a single piece of siege for 12 weeks straight while we faced SoS and BG and knew we didn’t have the coverage to compete.

I know reading is a skill but I said up 100k.

I fully understand when your getting zerged and laying down defensive siege. but when were zerging and own every map laying down siege to wipe someone over and over again is kinda pointless…. and why would anyone come out to fight… save it for when it means something…

Were dominating by over 200k and people are still burning through siege including golems like they are going out of style…

This next week is going to be a fight so why not save someof your gear when it means something…

Really excited for the next match. SOR are my fav opponents. They’re highly respected by the majority if SOS, and JQ are about to find out why. :-p

Exactly, its reset day JQ is up 200k on reset day we controlled all maps there were maybe 20 defenders out if that in all bg’s excluding EB, we had full ques in all maps, and were still running out Golems, and trebs… Maybe people have unlimited rescources but im saying why waste it when it means nothing…

I understand laying some rams down and what not… But Golems and Trebs ? I dunno…. Seems they would be better spent in about 10 hours…

yes HoD were strong at release, but the game was very young, guilds and players have evolved, and they would have been beaten eventually as the skill cap evened out because all servers had full maps.

HoD was beaten eventually and all servers have the potential to have full maps 24/7 It’s up each individual server player base to enter WvW. All I know is for two months straight SoS were out in force with 40+ man groups on every map I was on steam rolling. Numbers get a little even, push comes to shove, 1vs2 finally happens, and SoS folded.

Its reset Day can’t wait to get out of work when the reset happens. Lets lay all this bad blood on the battle field at the end of the day its a game. Here is what i saw this week, one server was stacked and was way to arrogant on the field as well as in the forums, another server was probably conned in to 2 V 1 then got played. Everyone was out for blood thats the name of the game. I am sure this post is going to be copied and pasted but thats okay you prove one thing is that you can right click. Yes SoS had numbers at one point but not as many as i have seen on one particulars server. We all fought hard and died fast it is what it is. after all you get away from you computer at the end of the night and go to sleep, wake up and go to work the next day and probably repeat. Eventually One big dynasty falls apart and it will happen its a matter of time. You will get board at the top with blow out wins if you keep winning the way you do. It did happen to SoS a big guild played with us then it left. I think that was great. The reason is because it made the games close between 1-2 and the ablity to switch between 2-3. If you look at the score now its evident you are stacked and yes you have more coverage….well good for you well played game you can prove that you run around in big packs and zerg people. I think what really made me upset is to see BG get spawn camped last night. We pulled the SoS team back, I wasn’t going to have that while i was on last night. I felt really bad last night and BG i am sorry that happened to you guys. Good fights last night but its time for a Reset

I didnt get a chance last night. But I wanted to congratulate the BG players on their borderlands yesterday. You guys turned a paper cragtop into a bloody fortress.

BG will likely make it to T1 before any of us 3 do. If we have a close match this week we’ll all be in T3 or below and BG will probably be in T1 next week coming off a big win against TC and FA.
