Joining another server as a mercenary.
Not a fan of the idea, also regarding que’s , those that stacked can rot in their que.
This is a nice and fresh idea, which reminds me of a matchmaking system. Very very nice.
Always Loyal
So people who stack don’t even need to contend with queues? Sweet. Where do I buy the gems to make this happen?
Kind of a cool idea, but this puts me against it:
those that stacked can rot in their que [sic].
great idea, i like it
except the part of kicking mercs out when server is full. maybe use the said timer instead. i don’t like to be running halfway and get kicked.
it’s a pretty neat idea except
“2. If the map fills to capacity, mercenaries will start being kicked out.”
instead of this, have a fixed number of slots for mercenaries.
Why would people want to do this?
1. Have fun and gain wxp even when your server is in a horrible match-up.
2. Help the underdogs.
3. Outmanned Buff.
4. Easy way to find active people to fight and find people to fight with.
5. Meet new people and kill them.
6. The best part: A brand new Queue that you can Queue in!
These are good reasons for Why you should Xfr to a lower tier server.
I can see how this could be fun and have benefits but I’m not a fan of the idea. It sounds like you are from a high tier server. Just transfer if your getting bored with the state of WvW in your server.
There are a lot of players that might enjoy a mechanic like this but it would be more beneficial having those players actually move to the other servers.
Omg I like it. Very interesting and innovative idea.
Not really innovative imo, Rift for one has a Mercenary system in their pvp maps.
Won’t work in gw; I doubt a lot of players are jumping to the idea to help the enemy server, let alone be roflstomped by their own server lol.
Joining to find ppl to fight with?
Face it, wvw is all about the mindless pvd karma/whatnot farms the last couple of months.
Ppl who actually go in wvw for the fighting (other than poor defenceless doors and imba guards) get frowned upon by the zerg drones. We’re not “contributing to wvw”. >_>

Good idea what about if you group up with players you will all be put into the same server?
For this idea, Mercenaries would have to count against the outmanned limit to properly balance the number of mercenaries that could be applied. There is a massive difference in populations where people can get outmanned across servers – lower tiers can have it where they have 5 and the other team has 15. If 20 mercenaries can hop on, suddenly you out number them while having the outmanned? Conversely you could have 5 people and they have 60, and those same 20 would still have you outmanned.
Then of course is the subject of “kicking out”. I don’t want a kick out mechanic. Nothing like holding the enemy off from bay when people finally start joining your map and then watch your team disappear and let them take it. Unfortunately that leads to the other possibility that has plagued guesting and bosses – other people not of your server preventing you from joining. Both are bad, which is why I consider this “mercenary” option not the best.
Know I shouldn’t plug, but I still lean towards my idea: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/RvGvB-instead-of-WvWvW/first#post2943674
actually to prevent spying u could make the mercenary option so that the groups and guilds coming to assist u are from a different tier and not your current matchup.
i still think alliances could be a better option.
if u are in a blowout matchup like fa/jq/sos atm jq has more points than both of the servers together so if that happens the 2 outmanned servers could form an alliance and no longer attack eachother, but work together.

Even if you limited it to servers outside your current matchup, there is a lot of bad blood between servers, and a lot of potential for griefing and trolling.
