"Ktrain" PvErs in EOTM
Lol, I was trying to give some helpful advice until I checked back on the thread to see OP throwing a tantrum.
It’s all coming together… You’re not used to not getting your way so you’re throwing a fit over it. Not everyone has to enjoy what you enjoy. As I’ve said in my initial post, some people like karmatraining, EOTM is the best place to do that, group wiping karmatrains in EOTM is actually a lot more pathetic than the karmatrain itself.. There’s no challenge, no reward and I can’t see it being very fun for any longer than an hour. All you’re doing is griefing people. Go to a real borderland and challenge yourselves against people who actually want to fight instead of being a pest…
You are playing the game WRONG. Sick of entitled people like you. You call it griefing to play the game the way it was intended? People like you aren’t just destroying MMOs, you’re destroying society.
MOAR superior ACs in these keeps, please! For a better WvW!

You can’t learn anything about wvw in eotm since it’s just a spot to put a wvw merchant that isn’t stuck behind a queue’d area and a way to get badges that’s not stuck behind a queue’d area. Nothing in eotm has any effect on your world’s wvw areas. If you want to wvw then go wvw. Eotm is really fun how it is. Run around and smash stuff with a group with the risk of pvp. If you don’t like that there’s plenty of other options. Why try to normalize the whole game bu demanding eotm be turned into a 5th borderland?
Hello. My name is Kaga, and for now 3 weeks I’ve been blue, which means the worst spot in edge : Frostreach. The fantastic Ice Palace. In a way, it reminds me of Maguuma proper, since you’re always outnumbered.
And lo, the great dual comms strategy emerged, and team Kaga & friends went to work on perfecting that defense, farming the zergs coming in, reaping us a great baggie harvest with a generous side of zergling tears. The anguish generated by operation defense for the past 2 weeks had escaped the confines of the overflows, and is now on blast on the forums. AND I REJOICE !
The defenses (events) and the retakes do give rewards. But killing zergs 3 to 4 times your numbers feels much better. Against the grain of the karmatrainers that believe you should let it be capped and just recap it, The ice castle got defended against overwhelming odds. A great many defenses ( for season) and kills were obtained by the happy edgerunners of Frostreach.
And by the time the enemies fear and back off the slice … then the raids begin. Unless spotted and acted upon quickly, Kaga’s infamous sneakystyle raids have produced dragonite for the hardworking defenders of frostkeep. Because tactics do serve a purpose in edge of the myst.
If i’m around and running things, beware! Commander Kaga farms j00, ktrainer ! (And yes, I’ve had 4 hour frostkeep flawless defense matches. )
Oh, and this was found this week . Made my day ! http://captiongenerator.com/15883/Eotm-Karma-Train

It’s cute that sPVP players dump on WVW players.
sPVP is not a skilled playfield. It’s about mob mentality at best. The side that zergs the capture points the most wins. HotJoin is about using that format to make the most out of the available rewards. sPVPers are watered down PvE players any day of the week.
WVW players are laughing at you guys making the distinction. Anet is laughing at the players who represent 100 percent of their paycheque who think their opinions matter.
Fixed.
I really hoped eotm to be a better PvP zone than WvW, but it’s just a pve farming area now. Zergs don’t even want to fight, they change their directions when they see each other.
Arenanet has to completely rework on it from head to toe. PvD’ing and PvE farming must be removed from eotm, and Player vs Player fights must be encouraged. There’s already tons of champ farming places for PvE. And PvD is a normal WvW maps thing, why deal with doors for hours if you don’t support your server ? Eotm must be full of PvP combat with more action.
Let’s do a basic proof.
1. WvW is supposed to be played by players who care about WvW (mostly accepted)
2. EoTM is WvW, as evidenced by the wiki and location
3. EoTM is played by players who only want karma (evidenced by this thread)
4. Ktrains in EoTM defy the entire point of WvW (see 1)
5. People who encourage ktrains in EoTM are inadvertently messing up WvW
One more proof, then I’m done
1. PvE players thig WvW players are nasty (evidenced by this thread)
2. PvE players use WvW for ktrains and mess up WvW for WvW players (evidenced by this thread)
3. If WvW is ruined, WvW players will come into PvE (estimation based on given information)
4. If WvW players go to PvE, the PvE environment will be mean (see 1)
5. PvE players want a nice friendly environment (evidenced by this thread)
These proof arent “proofs” really but rather they are trains of logic detailing how moronic it is for PvE players to ruin WvW for those who care about it. Just yesterday I had to tell a level 30 PvE player who wanted to use WvW to level that up levels only provide rallies when fighting in a Zerg and ruin WvW in many ways. They literally laughed at me.
I conclude that PvE players A) dont care about WvW players Are not the “nice”
People they pretend to be and C) ruin WvW for WvW players.
This is an issue. There are ktrains in PvE, but for some reason EoTM is the most popular. Uplevels from PvE trying to rush to 80 are also common. This needs to stop.
When you talk about winning against green in EotM please write if you are in the US or Europe. In Europe I do not see how can anyone defeat green. I’m not saying wiping them once, but winning the match.
This week our server is green and we have full size blobs all the time. Everyone is talking about not defending in EotM, green dominates so much that they can easily defend, well roll over their enemies. No ACs needed if the enemy zerg goes into green territory the commander ports back and wipes the enemy zergs. They say they go for the bags. As an uplevel KTrain we were wiping even 5-10 member guild groups. We were also able to get the Red Keep while it was heavily defended (Scorpions OP). After the capture we found like 10 superior ACs and 2 superior trebs inside. We had to waste their supplies on ballistas to not turtle up again.
Last week we were blue, when I log into the map there are no commanders, outnumbered buff, there are 5 people in the keep on ACs. If some of our stuff gets flipped there are maybe 10-15 people there to get it back after the enemy went away. Leaving the keep is risky, as green usually hunts for “bags”, so if they know you are there they are running to fight you. By fighting you I mean wiping our zerg in 5 second. I tried to get into EotM just after reset, so hopefully the first overflow is a bit more balanced. It was okay at first but after half an hour we got our outnumbered buff, and in an hour the zerg was reduced to 15 people. Basically after the first 1 minute of the match we got no new players into the map, as people left our numbers got worse and worse.
Being green in EotM is the cheapest and fastest way to level currently. I started a new character used an instant 20 scroll and a 24 hour birthday booster. When I hit level 80 I still had 4 hours left on my birthday booster. So that is about 20h play time. While earning money and a ton of WXP Levels.
I go to borderlands to play WvW and go to EotM to level alts.

Because just like you said… All other 4 maps are behind queues… (Not that I know what queues are, since I’m not on the blob tiers)

I was playing in EOTM for two hours yesterday. at the end i was so bored and tired that i took a nap. even frostgorge doesn’t do that to me
I would level up in EOTM if you plan on doing WvW. It is faster than Queensdale. You will get tons of badges what you can use to buy wvw gear when you hit 80.
I find it pathetic that some commanders coordinate with the enemy to make sure there are no fights between zergs. Really, really pathetic.
I’ve done that before and so far I heard no complaints from the players in my squad.
Yeah? I consider it cheating, and you should be banned for it. In other MMOs it’s a bannable offence.
I probably shouldn’t touch this hornet’s nest but… You consider that cheating? I can’t help but wonder what your reaction to all the 2v1’ing in WvW for Season 2 is, considering those commanders talking to each other affects the rankings/rewards of entire servers. The devs must know about it by now and their inaction/lack of statements seems to mean commanders can carry on this way as far as the laws of the game go.
I, actually, am usually pretty impressed when 2 commanders on opposing sides manage to coordinate with eachother… even if it happens to be biting my server in the back end atm. Instead of treating EotM/WvW like “we must all war for honor because reasons!” it shows the reciprocal relationships humans can form even inspite of being told to be enemies. On a philosophical level, cooperation out of conflict really tickles me – even if it’s only for a short time as some of these 2v1 Season 2 alliances may yet be. It’ll be interesting to see if they compete for first and second at the end or if they worked something out ahead of time. I do wish this kind of match fixing were somehow against rules in WvW proper but idk what they could do to fight it or why they would since they’re not trying to esport this portion of the game. Probably best to focus on fixing the map issues players have been exploiting first, in any case.
I agree that if someone really wants to defend, who cares. EotM is beautiful and meaningless, so c’est la vie. I have way more fun there ktraining and don’t feel bad when I want to yolo and do whatever I feel like — because it’s like Who’s Line: Everything’s made up and the points don’t matter. I’m just not gonna get worked up over someone’s playstyle in such an insulated setting. 10xs more fun for me than WvW atm with these fixed matches.
Irrespective of what everyone else thinks, it will be the bulk of the players on each map that will ultimately determine how a game is played be it in EoTM, EB or BLs.
There really is no right or wrong way of playing the game as long as people have fun. And fun is subjective. The minority may feel marginalized or suppressed but would it be fair for the majority of players to sacrifice their fun just to play in a way that only the minority feels happy with? Hence, let’s be logical about it. Choose the map which suits your preferred play style – no one is forcing WvWers into EoTM or KTrain PvEers into EB/BLs. Everyone will be a lot happier about it. And who knows…. in the future, pending on players, KTrain might even be centred in EB/BL while WvW centred in EoTM.
You are allowed to kill people in the karma train.
Doing so should be neither unexpected nor a cause for beratement.
Now go slaughter the uplevels and make the commanders worry about being attacked.
No reason not to ktrain, but you need to be prepared for an attack at all times!
EOTM is a warning to all what will happen to WvW if megaservers will be used there…
EoTM was a warning of what will happen to PvE if megaservers were to be used there … but that didn’t stop Anet. You can almost guarantee megaservers will be coming to WvW — and sooner rather than later.

Hiya. I’m relatively new to the game, and so I wanted to learn how to WvW in a more forgiving atmosphere. A guild member pointed me towards Edge of the Mists.
Unfortunately, when I got there I found:
- Lots of players are rude, abusive or unpleasant to anybody who wants to fight other players
- Most commanders seem more concerned with capturing empty towers and avoiding the enemy at all costs than defending anything we own
- The players who play this way tell me (and others) that THIS IS EOTM, THIS IS KTRAIN, GTFO
My guild members tell me that the game used to be better before “champ trains” and that it’s something that started in Queensdale and has spread. Now, I don’t much care for the Queensdale champ train – I don’t think it teaches anyone how to play – but I’m very disappointed that this auto-attack zerging behavior has spread to a PvP area.
A few nights ago a guild on my server (or what used to be my server) led an event in Edge of the Mists. Lots of people defended the keeps and fought other players and it was FUN. Other times, people have played like this and yes, it’s FUN.
When I ask for help defending a keep though, most times someone sends me a message saying “erm this eotm we dont defend here, noob” or something similar. When I tell them that I enjoy it, I’m met with “LOL good luck getting no loot” or just insults. Now I don’t really care for loot. I play games to have fun. I mean, isn’t that the point?
Another thing I get told all the time is that “EOTM isn’t proper WvW”. Well, darn. Why is it on the WvW screen then? I’ve heard players in the other WvW zones get angry with low-level players and tell them they shouldn’t be there. So where are we supposed to go to PvP? I don’t want to damage my team, but I want to learn how to play in WvW before I reach maximum level, and I really don’t like PvE.
I’m sure some guys out there have a solution for this, like lowering karma rewards or increasing defensive rewards, but really I think the problem lies with players being too entitled and just expecting rewards for running in circles. Well, if they want to do that, whatever, but why do they have to ruin it for those of us who play the game to have fun and actually want to fight other players in an environment which allows it?
EOTM is there to complete and finish your dailies in a fast and easy way, and to karma train. It’s 10 times better than EB or any BL because it’s perfect for PVE players such as myself.
It was literally designed to keep PVE players and those that love and want karma train out of ‘’serious wvw’’ like BL or EB.
What you want, you will find in any of the 3 borderlands, obsidian sanctum or eternal battlegrounds.
It was literally designed to keep PVE players and those that love and want karma train out of ‘’serious wvw’’ like BL or EB.
- It was designed to make sure the China wouldn’t have massive WvW queues at launch.
- It was designed as a guinea pig/beta test for megaservers.
It was definitely not designed as a karma train for PvEers.
That said, its botched implementation (mostly its lack of community) has made it a karma train for PvEers; and it’s best to accept that that’s what its become. Besides, now that leveling — with the new trait system — is so tedious, where else would you train all the way to 80?
EotM was ANET’s vision for the future of WvW. Unfortunately, it failed and is much better suited as a PvE karma train map.
It shouldn’t even be called WvW.
I have made a VERY in depth and detailed post discussing the matter and reccomend anyone interested in the subject to read it fully, (warning lots of text).
The best way to learn WvW is to play WvW.
EoTM isn’t World vs World. It’s Colour vs Colour. There’s no benefit to defending in EoTM as you get way more rewards in capping structures than defending – the difference is astronomical. The difference is far smaller in WvW and the importance of defending for points far more pronounced.
Sorry but EOTM or WvW are PVP areas whether you like it or not. You can be farming and get zerged by the other team 10 times and not let you do kitten…, I’m a commander in EOTM and I do both, Karma and PvP (PvP has a lot bags).
If you are an uplevel and going to a PvP area don’t start whining about the PvP, get to 80 spend 100g and get your commander TAG.
All i can say about EOTM is, I LOVE IT :-)
As EOTM CMD my goal is to fight any Zerg i see. Its not easy task especialy becouse EOTM dosnt have any VoiceSoftware aka TS etc. where we can geather players from diffrent servers. And Commanding without any VoiceSoftware isnt a easy task. Especialy if trying to use some Tactics against another Zerg, most of own Zerg Players not even able to Stack at all. I have been trying usin some simple Tactics like Flankin or Stack might&blast, Vail etc. i would say 98% things like these dosnt work in eotm. Also EOTM have alot to Uplvl players. So u cant expect them to do full damag like a 80lvl player with exotic gear/weapons.
EOTM still a fun place for leveling, Farmin Champ Bags, Karma etc.
if you dont like it, just dont go there. thats it
