Anet thanks for making WvW more rewarding, very noticeable change
I am actually getting loot on my upleveled toons!!!! This is fantastic!
Now I’ll have to go try WvW again!
And what if I find it fun again and get hooked? There’s other things to do in the game!
Thank you for this! Out of curiosity, is ANET able to release any of the details regarding the WvW update vis-a-vis loot? I know there was talk about allowing folks to get a better variety of gear/ascended gear via WvW and I was curious if you guys had finalized anything yet.

no, while i like a bit of zerging (but not in this game), the rewards for zerging are far too good compared to the rewards for soloing or running in a small group.

They do that sorta thing with Ranger for 6 months now.
It’s nice, last guild event (2-3h) and i got 126 badges + 3 rares. Before patch i ended always with ~30-40 badges

I’m so happy now! As a necro was to hard to get badges before, causing damage on every one bat never enough to get loot bags… Now Im smelling justice here!

hm, yes. in ‘another game that gets mentioned often here’ killing someone solo would get you +-2000 points, killing someone in a group of 8 people would get each person in the 8 man group about +-250 points, and killing someone in a 100 man zerg would get each person in the zerg about +-20 points each.
that ment that playing solo, even if you only got to get a few one vs one fights and got zerged to bits in 90% of the cases, you would still a decent amount of points over a given time.
here, the amount of points you get increases significantly with the amount of players you are with.
i’m not argumenting that it’s bad that they increased the gains from w3, i’m argumenting that it is very unrewarding to try play solo or in a small group compared to running in the largest zerg possible and that therefore it encourages zerging over solo or small group play.
The thing I still hate is that bags don’t go directly into your inventory, If you are in a zerg on zerg kill feast and drops happening then you die just to look at the bags you would have got is still a major flaw in wvw.
Next step is change the way of obtaining bags. My F key is nearly broke and my finger has got some muscles.
I’m sad to say that the drop rate appears to be a global change.
I’d go so far as to say that WvW drop rates are just a by-product of this global change rather than specifically implemented to give us a break.
I’m seeing reports of drop rates increased throughout the game.
I suppose I’m happy that I can actually earn money now in WvW, but relative to PvEers, I’m no better off.
The problem was that the damage threshold was much higher for loot credit than it was for XP (mostly when many players were involved), which wasn’t intended at all. That resulted in a lot of mobs (especially Champions and higher) rewarding XP without giving any loot, which from Champs is a guaranteed blue or better lost from every kill.
They fixed a bug that mostly affected big events. Given that WvW often plays out like one gigantic, constant event, the biggest improvements will be there when people can get a loot bag every time they get kill-experience.

Exactly. But to be more accurate, your 5 bags were probably for tagging 5 people with 1 skill. And 1 bag from soloing could have been 20 times more total damage and skills used. It should at least be a significantly higher chance of a rare from that drop.
Point is, loot increase is great and always welcome but in general, rewards in WvW are all centered around AoE damage (tagging) in massive battles which is actually not the only thing that needs to happen in WvW.
Escourting yaks, running supply from camps, solo capping camps, and roaming/scouting get very little to no rewards. Similarly, with support/boons, CC and healing. So it would be nice to see activities other than zerging rewarded fairly for their contribution as well.
My mesmer is happy. My guardian? Notsomuch.
I do love the change, here and in PVE. At 80 not really a whole lot to do that doesnt revolve around trying to make money/loot. This change take a huge step away from making me feel like I am just wasting time and gold.
I approve of the frequent loot drops, don’t think many people could disagree. Thank you Anet!
