Make PPT matter....
I’d love to see better rewards for 1st/2nd/3rd place other than a few chests with two blues and one green, which are forgotten after 5 minutes anyway.
better rewards for 1st/2nd/3rd are a bad idea.
All it leads to is more people leaving lower population servers to get onto top tier servers so as to ensure that reward.
If a blackgate always wins its tier, everyone will want to be on blackgate. Not good. We saw that in the tournaments where large numbers of people would move servers midstream when they determined which server would win its group.
What im suggesting is why doesnt ANET do some calculation and how you get rewarded base on participation why not do that for overall score.
Because players can simply transfer to the highest population server to get rewarded for coming in first. That’s why it isn’t done.

That is what was happening for WvW tournaments, players stacked on specific servers to make shure they would end in 1st.
PPT should never matter except as a tool to measure (alongside kills/deaths) a server’s activity level to ensure somewhat balanced matchups. Having servers playing purely for PPT drains the fun out of WvW entirely. No thank you.

well you can combat server stacking with the rewards being the same for 1st regardless of Tier? Noone can properly figure out how to balance WvW pops that isnt the issue here, the issue is make winning actually rewarding. People stack servers anyways look what TC did a few months ago and look at BlobGate now. Rewards are gonna change stacking, but rewards may encourage people who PvE to join WvW. lets face is you basically bleed gold in WvW and in PvE (im looking at you Auric Basin) you bath in it!
We need 3 hour matches. Reward winners, best players and so on. Of course add some statistics. Players love statistics. Ridiculous keep score in 24/7 game.

It’s why we can’t have nice things.

I thought they were trying to say rewarded by personal participation. Personal participation measured as a percent of whole might be lower on a stacked server – even if it just ktrains.
ppt is the least fun part about this game. it should not matter at all

obviously people care about it

No. It isn’t tier-dependent. The first place server in any tier typically has more population and coverage than the third place server. Look at T4 NA if you need an example.

Auric Basin and the multi-map squads are a perfect example of the kind of organization players will do for increased rewards that we do not need in WvW. Rewards from killing other players was purposely made poor because increasing it meant players could simply organize for kill trading. The same goes for rewards from winning matches, players can simply stack on the winning server of a tier for profit. That was the whole point of adding reward tracks – to find a way to provide better rewards for players without having an oversized effect on the actual PvP.

All about those pvers and rewards, they are like zombies lol
Very well, and here is your reward!
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2
I hate fighting DB sometimes … they just PPT the hell outta some nights and run when on sight of opponents. Then other nights (guessing other commanders) they fight like dogs and it’s fun as hell… but it is hit or miss some days. I guess this goes for all servers. Even mine. But the game is absolutely more engaging and fun when you fight each other, versus running back and forth back capping objectives. That’s just plain boring. Ah well off to PAX I go anyway, have fun this weekend all. MAy the fights be with you.
One phrase comes to mind.
Mortal Kombat!!!
We really need to switch to a Pure King of the Hill Fight Model.
Make being WvW Rank #1 for EU & NA mean something.
Force both EU & NA #1 WvW Ranked Servers to earn their Rank every Week.
Use a Pure King of the Hill Fight Model to create Match-Ups.
- Assign each World Server 1 Map to Own.
- Let Players Guest Fight by visiting any World Server they choose.
- ANet then Tightly Controls How Many & Which World Server(s) that a player can visit for the week.
- Enable Rank Scoring to ENCOURAGE the Lower Ranked Worlds to attack the Higher Ranked.
- Enable Rank Scoring to DISCOURAGE the Higher Ranked Worlds to attack the Lower Ranked.
Guesting is nothing new & is already being used. For those not familiar with this already built-in Game Mechanic:
Next time you logon – Click [ World Selection ] Button – Pick a Different Home World – Click [ Guest ] Button.
Players using the Guesting Mechanic are free to visit any World Server to Guest Fight on for the whole week.
ANet using the Guesting Mechanic can then Tightly Control How Many & Which World Server(s) a Player can visit for the whole week.
Fixed 3 Way Fights in Tiers only support FAT CAT Servers that have large populations & Do Nothing to encourage them to Fight for their Rank!

Just having a conversation on the soon to be raising of PPK and how it’s likely going to reduce our fights. Because the more risk that is involved with death, the more pensive and avoidant will our behaviors become. If you want fights, you have to make them rewarding but, not be risky. This way player feel free to engage in a fight more often. That’s pretty much what we have now, PPT to instigate a fight, and a low PPK to reduce the risk of death. Allowing us the feeling of YOLO and engaging in every fight we can get into.
