Megaserver the WvW
I would suggest trying to save gold to buy gems and transfer to another server if you’re not wanting to buy gems to spend for a transfer with real life money.
The WvW Mega server is EOTM basically. Large fights at times, taking/defending, objectives, 1 large battlefield.
“Invincibility lies in the defence; the possibility of victory in the attack.” Sun Tzu
I just want to WvW in a large battlefield.
If you want that then join T1 servers while there are still ppl willing to fight. because if nothing is done then everything in WvW will be dead in few month. NA is mosty dead allready.
Makeing it megaserver is just going to be brain dead -1 kill zombie train fest like EoTM kitten. Killing thous karma train noobs in EoTM while you have 20 ppl who know how to play Real WvW is easyer then farming in pve lvl 80 maps.
T1 is even a ghost town at times.. even after reset, so relying on T1 isn’t necessarily going to get them any action.
eotm isn’t WvW, it is a place now designated to level up alts. Even making eotm a part of the scoring ranks I think will have little effect.
Take all the players who actually log into one of the 4 “scoring” WvW maps and megaserver that.. now that is different from eotm all together.
Are PvE players likely going to try to venture into WvW in that atmosphere to level an alt? Not likely, they’ll stay in eotm.
Edge of the myst is your sollution
I think every servers have the play base to fill the maps. They just need a reason to go and play
Just the WvW

I feel your pain, OP. While I don’t agree that a megaserver WVW is the solution(EotM is that)…..I used to wvw on Kaineng, and experienced the same troubles as you. I didn’t mind the constant beat downs in WvW that comes with being on a small server…..but what did finally get to me was porting in and not being able to find anyone on the map. That was happening just too much for me.
So I finally bit the bullet and transferred to a much larger server. I can’t begin to tell you the huge difference. Almost constant action….whether it be zergs, havoc groups, pugs, etc…..people in wvw almost all the time…..has changed wvw completely for me. So pleased I transferred…it was well worth it. Nice thing about the megaserver is that I can still stick with my kaineng guild for pve, while repping the new guild I joined while doing WvW.
I would highly recommend transferring to a larger server. It made all the difference in the world to me. And yea, I know it costs a lot of gems……which sucks…..but in the end I felt it was worth it.
And the comments I read that say that even the T1 servers can be ghost towns at times…..I imagine that is all relative. I might be wrong, but I would be willing to bet that the ‘ghost town’ periods on the T1 servers are like the busy times in WvW on the small servers like Kaineng.
And fwiw, I spent a lot of time in Kaineng wvw and it was very difficult abandoning my comrades there. On Kaineng, no matter your experience level, every person in WvW matters, due to its small server size. My guild was very understanding, especially since one of our leaders and another one had already transferred to a larger server for WvW. It is horribly sad to see wvw in Kaineng dying……but it was time for me to transfer. My sincere apologies to my Kaineng wvw buddies.
Mmo players with a screw loose vs mmo players with two screws loose. All very important stuff.

I’m currently on Kaineng server and it really has come to my attention that things are a little bleak there. Eotm has been fun at times, but ultimately I really want to participate in a battle that has meaning and a long term goal. Kaineng’s Eotm presence isnt at all bad but I’d love to actually hop in to WvW and not see someone only every 20 minutes or so. The worst part is I had my best friend join me in Kaineng and now I’m having thoughts of switching even though I claimed “I wont switch servers” even here on the forums. Frankly I just want part of the action and to be a part of these larger scale battles (and smaller scale). The fact that a transfer costs so much isnt an issue for me but for a new player who finds themselves ultimately interested in WvW and on a small server what choice do you have if you want a more action packed experience.
until they fix the complete imbalance of drops between wvw and pve, wvw will continue to die a slow death.
the new ls feels a bit like wvw without the humans, with places being attacked all teh time and rewards for defending (ie everything that wvw lacks). In an hour I filled my bags without trying at all….

Hate to break it to you but if you want to be part of large scale battles that have long term goals and meaning then you probably won’t find it in WvWvW, simply because of the rate things flip and the shoddy reward system. Even T1 NA had total dead zones and short queue windows on reset last I checked(like 2 months ago).

people fight in ETOM ?
people defend in ETOM?
wow that is news to me and here i was thinking it was a champ train

EOTM was intended as a wvw megaserver for people to play while in que after all the complaints from T1 about 2 hour ques, but instead it has turned to what it is today
….. And Elementalist.
they should have never added eotm .
because it would have forced people to move to dif servers
The problem with EOTM, is that it’s a solution to a problem that no longer exists.
Not everyone likes fighting 40 man zergs, thanks but no thanks. I like my roaming just as it is now on Fissure of Woe, fighting groups of max 10 players.

That is a product of map design not a Megaserver system. EotM is a horrible map design for skirmish and roamers. Virtually every aspect of it was designed to screw over small group play.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
For megaserver WvW you would have to make faction/ alliance matchups, rely on guild reputation and track guild activity.
Iv alrdy posted my op on this on some other thread and i totally agree.
EOTM was not a solution to anything imo. Has some good ideas on it but, in the end, totally wasted resources. I feel bad when i go there w my guild coz no rly good fights: 1 hammerstun = 3 downed players…ye, the killing spree doesnt feel challenging at all.
But, nothing will change while we watch for the collapse of Bronze and Silver league. Maybe not even then. Anet doesnt care. They treat WvW as a “project that went wrong”. Maybe they always wanted something like EOTM.

basically the servertraveling can be explained by 2 core elements, the willingness to want always bigger. Bigger fights sound awesome, bigger guilds etc. the 2nd core element is the desire to win. Basically alot of pugs and even guilds just want to win. People don’t want real fights, being outnumbered 2/3-1. people just seek for nice and easy wins to feel good. However some will deny this statement, it occurs very often, this also being the reason why SFR is just a completely overpopulated server while deso and kodash barely have people during matchups against SFR. This aint only happening in t1 though, loads of people leave the lower tiers because of the 2 core elements. Large scale and winning just drags new guilds/players to the server while other servers will burn down, like kaineng. The more people who leave, the stronger the push effect will become at lower servers. Also the fact that you’re having very low numbers will decrease the chance to win, which will furter decrease the amount of players.
The only way to counter this behaviour is by topguilds transferring to lower tier servers, this will benefit the community as a whole, while giving a negative impact on the topguild. With other words, change is unlikely going to happen if anet doesn’t discourage playerstacking on top servers.
until then, the best thing you can do is just try to not care about it at all or servertravel, which will again further decrease the amount of players on low tier servers

Nope… still not enough players to fill 108 maps in EU and 96 in NA. There’s just not enough players. The problem is that the player population has diminished greatly. The oversight is that players have 2 or more accounts now and it appears that there should be enough players available. But, you can only drive one account in PvP fight at a time. Thus, why WvW has low numbers compared to the volume of accounts. I highly doubt the Dev’s have metrics to factor this in.
For WvW, I wouldn’t mind an alliance system at all. This way everyone can stay on the World they are on but, chose what Alliance to play for that day or week. Even have it cross EU and NA. Right now they probably could have just one cluster centrally located to cover the entire population of WvW.
