[Mada] Apocryfia
Seriously, new build 10 minutes after the new reset was 20 minutes late?? I mad bro
and bunch of alts all with name Jade
Maguuma – [VR]
You can’t plan ahead with the builds and have to do it after the reset!
Come on now!
what was the point of that? why not an hour before???
Violent Resolution [VR]
Maguuma
Wow A net WvW reset and you make a new build. Sick
– Arc [VR]
– GvG us!
The title pretty much says it all – there was one week of time and you update now? Please, reset night is usually when the most action is going on in wvw.
Patch notes?
No, but it was stated back in the blog-posts both before and during the league.
Krall Peterson – Warrior

WHAT THE kitten ARE YOU DOING
[Mada] Apocryfia
Ah yes, lets wait with possibly game-breaking issues because there is a reset in progress…
It is not like your server is the only one affected, so no one is really getting any kind of advantage.

That PvE hotfix was really necessary.

Why reset server AFTER wvw reset????
Update right as the NA match starts?
Someone at ANET probably thought to themselves…. let’s do an update right after reset! that will be brilliant.
ANET I am Dissapoint. WvW shutting down on RESET??? Wow…Is this a passive aggressive attempt to ruin christmas?
Why would you even update anything on wvw reset night?
Don’t know what all they changed, but this patch fixed a ranger trait that gave fury on crit with the longbow, giving you perma fury with decent crit chance. As OP as rangers are currently, I’m glad they got right on it and gave us a patch right after the reset.

Doesn’t seem worth interrupting reset night…
Seasons was a good idea but a joke due to unbalance servers.
Until the matches are competitive then give good rewards for coming 1st etc
I take competitive matches over good rewards anyday.
(Level 80 Ranger/Guardian)
Ima guess it had nothing to do with WvW. Someone found a massive bug or exploit somewhere and they had to update the whole deal immediately.
They wont tell us what it was either, I bet. They cant risk telling us what an exploit was.
Was pretty game breaking IMO…Was so worth screwing over people on reset.
not convinced. I would give benefit of the doubt. ANet might have been kittened by some update from Microsoft or their security provider or somebody and had no choice.
Well, that was definitely key to do right after reset. Disappointing
friday night kitten up has IT mess written all over it. That is exactly when this kind of stuff happens.
Hey guys,
This hotfix was originally slated to deploy in the downtime window right after reset, but due to an issue with the update we had to delay it for a short amount of time. We understand that this wasn’t the most ideal time to release an update, but the hotfix did contain several high-priority fixes that needed to be implemented.
Good luck with your match-ups this weekend.

Well, thanks for the prompt response, at least.
thanks! That hot thing must have sucked. LOL
The most ironic part about this was, it pretty much was a double hit to rangers. Imagine those rangers who got into WvW.. they got booted out, AND they lost their fury bug on the longbow lol
Feedback: Why not make a global announcement before reset along the lines of “WvW Reset will be delayed 20 minutes while we release a patch.” And then delay the entire reset by 20 minutes instead of letting people play for 10 minutes, reset/force close and have to queue up at the portals again. Not to mention the positioning on the map for 10 minutes to be ruined by the patch.
Ofcourse this is better than patching 1 hour after reset – but any force close patch on a Friday night is silly.
but the hotfix did contain several high-priority fixes that needed to be implemented.
Then why wasn’t the reset pushed back until after the patch was released if it was that critical?

Kind of moot when it took them months to reschedule reset the last time they did it.
Fort Aspenwood
Extremely poor timing, and if there was a delay it was a very poor resolution to just deploy it right after reset.
Commander Guardian of Rall :: Norn Guardian
Commander Getting Hammered :: Charr Warrior
What’s the problem? :P Everyone had to dl the new build, so it’s not like those nasty evil enemy servers could ninja all your stuff?

Problem is that this company has a history of doing this already. This time last year they repeatedly released new builds at prime time. Rule of thumb: YOU DON’T RELEASE BUILDS AT PRIME TIME. Out of the other MMOs that I have played no one else does this.
Why is it a big deal? Well when you get off work and only have a couple hours to play & with slow internet, the last thing you want to be doing is spending 20-25 minutes downloading crap.

Is it any real surprise?
They been doing things like this since release.
I’d still rather WvW than PvP xD

If you look at the patch notes there was nothing in them that looked all that significant. This is just more grist for the opinion that anet treats WvW as the red headed stepchild of the game.
Miranda Zero – Ele / Twitch Zero – Mes / Chargrin Soulboom – Engi
Aliera Zero – Guardian / Reaver Zero – Necro
players would probably be more understanding if ANet provided little more detail about what the problem was and why it was considered necessary to mess up our momentum at such a critical time. The explanation we are given comes across as a kind of brush off.
In fairness, and I do not often say anything positive about ANET, they did announce the downtime ‘before’ the reset so everyone knew not to drop a bunch of siege that might get lost. All we really lost was about 10 mins of patching time at the very start of reset, not a big deal.

Stop being logical…..this is the new Anet, get used to it.
They didn’t release the hotfix before the reset because it wasn’t ready. They didn’t push back the reset timing for many reasons:
- They couldn’t be sure when the hotfix would be released;
- The bugs affected people in other time zones, not just NA.
- Some people would have been just as upset to hear about an indeterminate delay (although it would have largely been a different group of people).
- Delaying for 2-3 hours would have interrupted other people’s “prime time,” including those starting long runs in dungeons or fractals.
- It’s a lot more expensive for them to release a patch outside of ANet regular hours — and those costs reduce the resources they have to QA/fix or generate other content.
Put another way: there is never a good time to push out a hotfix. There are bad times and worse times. Some significant group of players was going to be inconvenienced and sometimes the least bad alternative is to release sooner rather than later.
