New trend in EOTM?
pages.videotron.ca/madfang4/
depends maybe he have two accounts and can kill you on his second
I was running Edge Of The Mist for fragments to complete my armors (which i did, yay), and i came across something new to me. We got farmed. It became obvious anywhere the train went, there would be a zerg there waiting for us. People explained it thinking there was a spy doing this to annoy people.
While this is bad karma and you’ll go to hell for it, not much can be done about it. I’m just wondering, does he get anything out of this? Besides annoyed peoples? And is it common?
Well, as someone pointed out in a similar thread the other day – that’s how WvW is and EotM is a WvW map. PvE players made it their karma and badge train but it was no PvE map to start with.
Edit: And it doesn’t need a spy to predict where a zerg is headed.
It’s pretty easy to figure out where an active Zerg is on that map. You do have commanders who purposely attack other zergs for bags as well. There was also a WvW guild in appropriate gear who specifically roamed EotM attacking enemy zergs.
So, just to remind you, EotM is a WvW map, even though it has been invaded by PvE trainers. and sometimes people go in there to do exactly that. Sometimes it’ll be a small group, other times I have seen entire guilds wipe the ktrain over and over. It isn’t bad karma, they’re using the map for its intended purpose, its just that PvE people seem to think they are still in PvE there.

Normally I would agree with you… (My guild regularly trolls the PvE’ers…)
However if there was a spy involved (not entirely sure there was) than it isn’t really how it was intended to work. It is mostly a valid complaint in that case.

Do you know what griefing is? It’s been around online in games since at least UO. It’s been with humanity since time began.
Some people get off spoiling someone else’s fun. That is how they get their fun. The psychology behind it is more than I could explain since I am not versed in psychology.
TL;DR: Griefer’s gonna grief.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
Do you know what griefing is?
Little confused here! Isn’t EOTM a PVP map? Thought the goal was to wipe the other 2 teams and control the map.
It’s not hard to predict where a zerg will go. If the enemy commander notices that green owns green keep and stonegaze, then sees that observatory was just taken by green, that zerg is going to statuary.
Even if it’s less obvious, there are known paths that commanders tend to follow. And just like in psychic readings, you don’t have to be right 100% of the time; if you’re right even 30% of the time, they are going to think you’re magical. (you take 2 places, they are at the 3rd, “omg there is a spy”).
also, if blue owns the entire map except for the one place you just took, all they can do is kill you. literally no reason to be anywhere else.

When wvw matchups are bad, and commanders aren’t getting fights, they like to go to eotm. It’s predictable and the zergs are to stupid to run and wp.
Hell doesnt exist.
Hell isn’t real… But it exists, otherwise you would not know about it.
Anyway i get the whole idea that pvp is pvp and stuff like that, i hear that. However those fragments have to come from somewhere. Dungeons are just harder than to follow a train and fight with another colliding zerg once in a while. Then there’s the community: the bad players and the elitists. Also i used 2k fragments for my set. That would be a lot of world chests.

This is not a new trend. Proper WvW guilds will go to EOTM if the current match up is a bore. This is what EOTM is for and is working as intended. The unintentional use of EOTM is the K-Train/leveling though that’s its most useful benefit.
As far as spying goes, it may happen though i doubt it. Who cares about spying in EOTM when spying in WvW is hardly worth it either. There’s simply no reward. It is very easy to gauge where an enemy zerg is, and its relative size (by how fast objectives are captured).
Ofcourse you guys got farmed. 80% of your blob were upscaled people.
Upscaled people are comparable with walking lootbags. These walking lootbags don’t have any brains, if you kill them they will come back, they don’t have a clue what’s going on. For you it was like getting killed over and over and over again. For the enemy, its like killing zombie waves with skill 1 while selling on tp at the same time. Tip: Don’t be the walking lootbag

It certainly isn’t new. But it only happens occasionally because it’s kind of self defeating. I’ve been on both sides of this, both as the zerg hunting other zergs and the zerg being hunted. The problem is, and the reason it doesn’t happen all the time, is it is ultimately less rewarding (in a quantitative sense, not a qualitative sense) even for the side who is hunting. Usually it’s Overgrowth going after Frostreach, just because EOTM tends to be a numbers game, but I’ve seen it happen on all sides. The problem is, when you hunt the enemy zerg you have two things happen. One, each time you go back there will be fewer bags, as people rage quite pretty quickly if they’re being hunted. Eventually the side being hunted will stop forming a Zerg at all as commanders will leave along with everyone else, and once the other side rage quits you also can’t do the Karma Train. The K-Train depends on the other teams retaking objectives that you’ve already taken, allowing you to take the same champions and objectives again and again. If you’re the only team playing, the K-Train runs dry, so to speak.
I know a lot of people wish EOTM was more, but I actually think it’s a fascinating example of economic equilibrium.
I doubt any spies were involved, it doesn’t take a tactical genius to watch the map, see what objectives have just been taken, and move to intercept. You can easily spawn camp a side at their base too since they can only leave a few ways.

As others have said, it’s not too hard to predict where the enemy zerg is heading next. Experienced commanders who are looking for a fight can thus steer their own zerg towards the next point of confrontation and set up in preparation.
Since EotM is a WvW map, PvP is expected and even encouraged. Sure, the k-train is nice for levelling alts and getting easy Bloodstone/Empyreal/champ bags (and ANet will certainly not take action against you for joining such a train), but at the same time, the players seeking out fights are more in the right.
As for me, I enjoy both k-trains and fights, and the Commanders I most enjoy following will do a mixture of both. We fight when we can win, we take objectives when we can’t. And if you’re just absolutely outnumbered on a map and can’t even get anywhere, then go try a different map.

Most of the times I hear “spy, spy, spy” in wvw/eotm it’s when commanders are absolute kittens and that’s the easiest way to blame someone else for their fault. In eotm, some add that the group that just wiped them was a guild group, everyone ignores the fact that the enemy group was a 50 man zerg full of upscales and random guild tags. It’s amusing how many zerglings prefer to live in sweet ignorance.

This post appears to be blasphemy! There are no “fights” in EotM!!! And I’m pretty sure you cannot even target other people in there… let alone kill them! :P
But if it’s true, perhaps EotM can be salvaged after all! One can only dream…

SOme more fights would be cool, unfortunately (in EU) the color balance this week is 100 blue, 70 green, 20 red (usually when SFR is green not blue it is 100 green, 40 blue 20 red) so for red there is nothing to fight just: get something without being farmed to often.
Fix the balance in EotM, ANet, not really difficult to assin a new player to the smallest team and ignore its server and its color
In fact it will even help WvW if server membership isn’t respected I. EotM team assignment, a lot of people moved to SFR for easy EotM farming.
(edited by Dayra.7405)
to remind the people here: you don’t have to spy, you don’t even have to predict where the zerg is going. your trusted, well positioned sentry turrent will exactly tell you where the enemy zerg is.
Theres no more seasons so all the good WvW’ers are playing the newest WvW map.
Its not that hard to find out where the enemy is, if you pay attention to map.

Seafarer’s Rest EotM grinch
I doubt anyone bad enough that they have to go to eotm to win fights is smart enough to figure out where the enemy blob is.
A reminder: there will never be good fights in eotm because eotm is pve.

Well sea of sorrows is NA server so it’s natural that EotM doesn’t have good fights and everybody just PvE.
Seafarer’s Rest EotM grinch
This is fairly common on the EU EoTM maps. Seafarer’s Rest has a huge population of WvW players and regularly have a Q to get to the regular maps. So they just take over their color on an EoTM overflow map and start farming the other colors.
Funny Sunny Bunny is one particular commander who is very good at farming the other zergs. He/She/It (I’m certain it’s a shared account) sometimes takes it a bit far and starts camping spawn spots. It’s great for loot bags but it sucks a bit if it was karma and levels you were looking for.
I’ve ran with two or three commanders who said that they had smb on colour xy “spying”. But don’t forget the small towers u can set(forgot the name), that reveal the enemy on the map. Often these are ignored by the enemy. As mentioned swords, flags (not) skipped etc. all give good hints, tooo. Finally I’ve also seen commanders repeatedly run the same route into the arms of the waiting enemy, without stacking etc.
Personally I wouldn’t be proud to be a 30+ guild group farming upleveled, but it is a pvp map, so there’s nothing wrong with it.
Most people complain to be on the losing side, aka usually not being the colour of the no. 1 server, but are happy to join in and get their “revenge” once on the other side.
I keep telling about this and other such topics in this forum and about ppl who make these in SFR TS and we really have a blast laughing at this. Good job keep it up, we need entertainment.

This is actually the problem right here. For trying to PvE and avoid fights in a PvP environment, <i>you’re</i> the one racking up the bad karma, and will go to hell for it. The only solution is to organize a competitive force and counter farm the kitten out of your enemy. Only then will the balance be restored, and nobody will come running to the forums (or chat window) to qq.
You’re welcome.
EOTM zergs consist mostly of uplevels and under-skilled players. It’s easy to farm bags from players the same way it’s easy to farm karma and experience. If there’s a half decent commander who wants to PvP they’ll probably stalk the other zergs to farm bags. It does happen but it’s not as frequent as the perpetual karma train. Also, on the subject of farming bags, 250 Heavy Loot Bags are worth more than 15g. So it brings in a pretty nice profit if you do it often.

guys like you in EOTM was born as brainofffarming lemings for wvwers that going there from tiem to time.
No need a spy with you, jsut need to read the map =))
Probably some guild training zerg busting, btw OP it is not a new trend some guilds got there to make some training on new wvw players.
Kama trains know always where other trains are to avoid it, they have scouts and the guild training on eotm can use some scout training to.
Working as intended finnaly!
As far as I understood OP, he is not ranting about other zergs killing other zergs or people who don’t farm in EotM. He is talking about spying.
But yea, there might be a spy or there might not be. I don’t really see any reason to have a spy in EotM. Sure, it’s a bit easier to track the enemy because you know exactly where it is and so on, but tracking a huge blob of people is way too easy, even in WvW where some of the zergs know how to try to go under the radar.
If you touch any objective in EotM you will make a mark in the map in one way or other which will reviel your position.
What comes to spying. Yeah, the spy and the one who is communicating probably just want to annoy people and are getting some kind of sad satisfaction out of it, like from trolling generally.

I think it’s interesting to watch how fast up-levels die in EOTM.

Farming upevels in EotM is how I get the T2-T4 mats for making my ascended stuff.
It’s also easy to tell where a blob in a karma train mode is going. They tend to travel around in a circle hitting the closest objective they don’t own to the one they most recently captured. Don’t forget about them orange swords, people in EotM seem to not understand that orange swords can be seen on the map by EVERYONE. It’s how we find blobs and wreck blobs of uplevels with ease because they’re too busy rubbing their face in a door to even see us coming. Don’t even need a veil people are so oblivious.
spying is highely unlikely.
the end
however Funny Sunny Bunny was brought so I’m grasping is IT going to be banned at last?
if not for toxic being in general (as i’ve seen even months ago), then for pure spamming maybe?
btw makes my cry for wvw community, beacause as i’ve seen many people like him/her/it; big feat of defeating eotm zerglings, rly; one mistake of zerg (come on it’s eotm!!!) and 8 years old attitude: on. and spam wp for at least minute constantly, until I’ve blocked kitten with probably at least half zerg doing same – rest licks his butt on destroying fun for everyone
no regroup, no win for him, no win for guys at spawn, map painted red lolol
Yeah I don’t really play the game any longer – whaddya think I am doing on forums?

It does not require a spy, one of the game hacks being used allows viewing of enemy troops anywhere on the map so they will always know exactly where you are at any given point in time.

Despite what others are saying this actually is a new trend. Most people in eotm want to farm champs since eotm is the best place to farm karma and champ bags.
Ever since account wide tags everyone and their mother either: doesn’t know how to command efficiently, or wants to farm players for crap gold and weaksauce karma per hour instead of champs for epic gold+karma per hour.
Additionally, dgins has started spending all day in EOTM. There are a few other chronic player farming commanders like Xaidins (good com, but never caps) and Lazwryth (awful com, still tries to farm players anyway) but this one is much more annoying than most of the rest because he hacks (google gw hacks [LUN] is pretty good) never logs out, brings his guild, and just runs around mid capping stuf without door while waiting for a zerg to kill.
When he was on TC he spent much more time in real WVW rather than eotm.
It does not require a spy, one of the game hacks being used allows viewing of enemy troops anywhere on the map so they will always know exactly where you are at any given point in time.
Correct. If you find the hack’s dev post you can even see a screenshot of this. Many of the ‘good’ eotm commanders are using it.
I can’t count how many times I’ve started ragedefending on a map and zergs completely avoid my siege without ever having actually scouted where my carts were. I thought it may have been spies for the longest time, but it was actually cheaters.
you’ll be surprised how easy it is to read and predict where a zerg is and where it might possibly go in eotm. they always end up making orange swords for one, almost always stick with the same pattern, and are oblivious to leaving fake swords.
the topic about how sfr can just ridiculously add so many numbers to whatever color they may be in that week is another though. let’s leave that to anet. i’m sure they’ll come with a new algorithm for server transfer price in 7 years.
Deso have always bigger zerg that sfr, but they rage quit fast.
More likely we don’t have that zerg 24/7.
And most of Desolation has burned out already when it comes to regular WvW. There’s even an influx of WvW players in PvP.

And just to remember we’re not there to pve like everyonde do. We’re there to pvp cuz its a PVP map
