How about instead of introducing more WvW currencies, we make all these new rewards available for badges of honor, and then give a ton of badges as the tournament rewards?
So that, you know, maybe I’ll have something worthwhile to spend my 10k+ useless badges of honor on.

You can always buy siege, or buy siege and sell them. Also decent for gearing up late if you ever do that.
I think what is more concerning is that servers who take a beating all league won’t even have access to the WvW skins.

I am more worried about last 4 servers in EU leagues. These servers are really disadvantaged because they will not get enought tickets to get Mistforged Hero’s Weapon.
I know you will get some parts from achivements and you can craft them in forge, but it just means that these 4 servers will have only option to make one weapon, while higher servers will have option to get 2 weapons.
This will just encourage guilds and players to transfer.

I know you will get some parts from achivements and you can craft them in forge, but it just means that these 4 servers will have only option to make one weapon, while higher servers will have option to get 2 weapons.This will just encourage guilds and players to transfer.
Since they’re giving free transfers to these lower teir servers, I’m guessing they’re hoping that the populations balance out a bit. In the end, there will always be low pop servers, and in a tournament there will always be a “losing” server (which really has more to do with population than skill). The mistforged weapons are most likely just cosmetically different. They also said they’ll be running multiple tournaments, so if you don’t get it the first time, you’ll definitely be able to get it the second time. If they gave the same rewards to everyone, then there wouldn’t be much incentive either to win.

Handin, i will just talk for my server now.
Last week we managed to be first in hard matchup. We had finally great matchup and in rating we managed to go up from 22 to 19.
Again this week we are fighting with low rating servers. 19 vs 23 vs 24. So we will loose rating because most people enjoy other aspects of game when we have this “easy” matchup. like you would be motivated to siege enemy spawn?
So we will loose rating probably even if we stomp them totally we would not be able to gain enought rating to keep in line with like Dzagonur. They will gain rating only because they will not be stomped completely.
So at 14th probably, Dzagonurs, our long time opponetns and good server to fight, will be rank 18 and we will be rank 19.
This way Dzagonur will have free transfers while we wont. So then it will be much easier for possible guilds to transfer to other free server than to Ring of FIre.
Ok its just tournament, but it will end in 9 weeks and no other tournament wil lstart soon.
And trust me, we on Ring of FIre dont want to fight WSR or BT again. We rather loose in silver than win in Bronze. At least we will be enjoying fights. But now we are enjoying PvD.

My guess is that the Gift of Heroes requires both badges of honor and 200 tickets, so 1st-3rd place servers can probably make two?
This reward system is CONSIDERABLY BETTER, than season 1’s rewards because, EACH INDIVIDUAL PLAYER HAS HIS/HER OWN CHOICE FROM A LIST OF POSSIBLE REWARDS. Also we know exactly what the rewards are in advance. I think Anet have solved the rewards problem nicely, hopefully they will adopt this type of reward sytem in other parts of GW2.
Also, lower tier servers have a real chance here to attract guilds to there servers with 0 cost transfers. Remember there are 3 leagues so 3 1st places up for grabs, 3 servers are going to end up with 500 tickets to spend on goodies.

Okay, I deleted a few posts about this, but I’ve rethought, and I’ve made up my mind: people shouldn’t have to wait between tournaments to get the mistforged weapon. Every server should get a chance to get one at every tournament. SoS is doomed to 4th or 5th place, because of how the leagues are set up (thanks again for not changing those), which would barely give us enough tickets to get a weapon. And the rest of the rewards are incredibly lackluster. What’s our incentive to spend 7 weeks fighting for a guaranteed 4th place, Devon?

When the solution is not to improve as a player, but to move servers, the rewards already don’t mean jack. They should be given to all. But I know that many players and devs seem to ignore that. That’s why we see t-ball references and other metaphors that have nothing to do with the fact that skill isn’t the determining factor. That’s why this game rewards WvW leaderboards and strips the rewards from spvp. Rewards aren’t about skill in this game, they are about having the biggest zerg.

While I applaud this take on the rewards, its important to note that last sentence is incomplete.
Everyone who completes the S2 Meta Achievement will get tickets.
Still waiting to see what the Achieves will be on that. The fact that it will be possible to finish totally in EoTM is a good start, but please bear in mind that not everyone who likes WvW can play regularly. I have bad wrists from no fault of my own – bus accident – and yet I’m still here; Only time I took off was when the S1 Meta was listed, promptly decided to catch up on other games instead (good timing actually, since I had a massive guilt trip from buying Skyrim and KSP last summer).

A big problem I see with this system is that servers that aren’t good enough to win in one league will try to keep their score down in order to get into a lower (silver/bronze), for a guaranteed first place.
You don’t have a idea how much effort some guild does to keep the server up the entire season. That WvW tickets should win every week (in less proportion) for those who do a weekly wvw achievements.
And give to the WvW community better reward, equal in time spend as PvE. Still, thank you, because you know, WvW season 1 reward was a really funny joke and everything is better than that. Even this tickets.

We should gain tickets as personal, not server reward. Fight more, gain more.
Every players do the meta achis on a weekend or maybe +1-2 days. Do you want to reward them as much as the real fighters?
Maybe 1 ticket for every 10 kills, capping a tower, 2 for keep and 3 for garrisons or something like this.

While I agree the rewards system is terrible the incentive not to be in silver/bronze is because the fights are awful in those leagues.

I hate to be the person who has to ask this but are you sure? Are you sure it’s not just the top 9 overall, or the top 3 in each l eague for 9 total? Somehow I have a hard time believing you based on Arenanet’s overall past record of terrible and inaccurate communication.
Last “season” we were told the top 3 in each LEAGUE would get finishers, but when it came around, only the top in each league got one, for 3 total, and all I ever saw was an insinuation that we, the players, “misunderstood.”
Hopefully placements place weight the season 1 placements as we have tons of guest wvw-guilds leaving once again prior to start of the real games. Sucks really bad to be placed to the group where you cant win any matchups and for best be placed second few times (after playing around a clock). I think rewards really shoud mirror the amount of players each side have and not who have biggest zerg.
The current reward system is an improvement over season 1. The choices of where to spend your tickets is a great idea.
However a good reward system should aim to fair.
Why does the bottom of gold and silver receive smaller rewards than the top of silver and bronze respectively? That is patently unfair. The bottom of gold and silver are battling harder servers for 1/2 the reward that the top of silver and bronze will obtain by beating easier servers. I can’t see how this situation can be regarded as fair.
Why not just reward players who deserve rewards? Being in winning server isn’t really worth rewarding if player doesn’t do kitten.
