So as you might’ve guessed.. This thread is about the jumping puzzle in the Eternal Battlegrounds, going by name of Obsidian Sanctum. You can access it through 3 keeps in WvW, 1 located on each of the portions of the map closest to your team’s starting waypoint.
That effectively means that any and everyone can access the puzzle at any one time. This is incredibly annoying when you’re trying to do the puzzle by yourself, while the enemy teams love to gank up and do it in groups. But why is this so horribly annoyed? Here’s a list of why’s:
1. You need to run and jump around on tiny ledges, from which it’s very easy to lose your balance and fall down – Meaning you will need to do countless amounts of puzzling all over again (Not bad persay, unless your short term memory got fried, I suppose)
2. The challenges present in the puzzle are already pretty darn hard to get around. Without getting attacked from all sides, my thief has plenty of troubles jumping from one end to the other – And by the time you reach the room with no lighting.. things only get worse. Or perhaps in the colloseum part.
3. By the time you’re halfway into the puzzle, you’ll probably have spend around 20 minutes to half an hour – More if you’re doing it for the first time, or on a different profession. Not by itself is not annoying. However imagine being run over by a truck seconds before your character’s hands reach the chest with its rewards. And since you’re all alone.. No one is around to help you.
As you might’ve guessed.. I suck at making good lists. But thanks for reading along so far already. Next up is a suggestion to remove some of the annoyance caused by these members who love harassing others – Even though clearly this is a PvP portion of the game, of which I’m well aware.
Instead of making the puzzle available for everyone at any given time.. Why not limit access for 1 world at a time? Why not remove the 3 entrances and instead place a single access point in for instance Anzalias, or Quentin Lake. Or any other random outpost available.
Not only would this give people more incentive to capture said outpost, but it would also give outposts other than Stonemist Castle some extra strategic value to the team. I mean really. The chest gives you free siege weapons, amongst things. What’s not to love?
Thoughts? Opinions? Or do y’all think I should just team up with the rest of the zerglings on my server and do the jumping puzzle with 15 (allied) people at a time?
