The only thing better than JP PvP is when people rage and cry about it. It just makes me love it that much more.
I believe in showing respect to people. There is a new limited-time achievement in the EB JP, which would attract non-PvPers to the JP. If they clearly have no intention to fight, why be an kitten about it? It’s showing people as much respect as when you interrupt a duel or a GvG. Those things are widely frowned upon even among the WvW community, and this should be too.
Thanks to people from Blackgate’s [DTG] and [WM] for ganging up on and killing non-hostile people, especially from relative safety above the arena, in the middle of the JP. These guilds have shown that they have no class. At least killing people at the start prevents them from wasting time trying.

Yup. There’s really no way to fight against that vantage point. I don’t see how choke points like this in specific were considered fair in development.
What were you thinking anet?
Arena fights are some of the best JP PvP. I’ve been alone and teamed up with server A to clear an arena camp from server B so many times. It’s great fun. We used to have to clear 10+ man camps out of there when they could build Arrow Carts at the top and fire them into the tunnel coming from the dark room. Now it’s a cake walk.
If you want a PvP achievement, you’re going to have to earn it or get lucky. I and thousands of others have run EBJP hundreds of times and never once complained about campers or PvP. You’re not special.
I love when people camp the arena, I take one of my engi or mesmer and pull them down, then our team murders them. We take top from them and kill their friends.
And flamethrower in the darkroom, SO fun

Yup. There’s really no way to fight against that vantage point. I don’t see how choke points like this in specific were considered fair in development.
- There’s enough room to avoid a mesmer pull.
- Max ranged classes can hit 3/4ths of the room from the vantage point.
- The path up to the vantage point is purely medium/large jumps, in which you can’t make if in combat and or can be in range of knockbacks/pulls.
- There’s no way to remove the players from the vantage point from anywhere else in the room except by being past the vantage point.
- Invisibility doesn’t last long enough for most players to get through the shaft, ramp, mossy stones and dark room to bypass the vantage point.
What were you thinking anet?
You can make every single jump in the arena in combat if you have swiftness. I have tested it. But there should probably be a stealth fountain after the darkroom. Just be happy people can’t put siege in the JP anymore.

What part of the limited-time Sky Pirates achievement makes it a PvP achievement? Is it the part where it is not found on any PvP tab? Or the part where the condition for getting it does not require any PvP wins or kills?
Don’t be a kitten, full stop.
More tears. Delicious. I was thinking of having carebear soup for the holidays too!
Believe me, there are WvWers who don’t want to fight while doing the JP. They mind their own business and don’t bother those who aren’t looking for a fight.
But I guess there are always people with the maturity level of teenagers.
Playing a video game the way it is intended is so immature. Please tell me more.
One sec, lemme get a bigger bowl to hold them in.
(edited by GuardianOMS.8067)
I have a JP policy of not attacking uplevels unless it is a mesmer near the top. I also won’t attack someone unless they are attacking me or fellow server mates. If they’re camping somewhere, I will knock them to their death and kill them. I think this is a pretty basic set of behavioral standards that many people carry into the JP.
Watch out for thieves and warriors, they often a bit full of themselves. But they will get tunnel vision and try to kill everything that moves. Kite them and knock em off a ledge. Duh, winning.
It’s more rewarding to let others attack you when you are minding your own business, then beat them up and /dance on their bodies to shame them for being so greedy.
Also: Mesmers are free game to attack at the top, because they will port in a lot of un-friendly people who will try to kill you. So kill the mesmer first.

Your way of thinking lacks respect for other people and any kind of higher reasoning. It simply seeks to justify things as correct “because I can do them”.
In real life, such reasoning would be considered anti-social. And I would wager that the way you treat people’s legitimate desires in game is a reflection of your real life character.
Thank you, Dr. Gamer. When is my next appointment?
I never said “because I can do them” so how and why are you using quotations? I said, “playing the way it is intended.” I don’t believe anyone should do anything they want just because they can. But to vilify people doing pvp in a pvp zone is not only immature, but simply seeks to justify your own whining.
Let’s compare video games to a more practical real life situation, say, a sport. Are players on a soccer team anti-social? Please delve deeper into the rabbit hole.
And as a side note, I don’t kill in the JP for giggles. In fact, I was made fun of by players on my server because I wouldn’t kill invaders and just /wave @ them. You might want to armchair a little less.

It’s the part where it’s found in a PvP zone. You know, the tiny area set aside where you can fight other people instead of a script. You’re not just allowed to PvP there, you’re supposed to.
Thank you, Dr. Gamer. When is my next appointment?

So you don’t actually try to grief players that are not in the JP to fight but to try and complete a limited-time achievement associated with a PvE event?
It sounds like you’re backpedaling, but it’s okay. I commend you for being respectful in practice even if you seem to want to justify people who do the equivalent of insisting on playing football with football rules against players who are legitimately using the pitch for another ball game.
Like I said before, people GvG and hold duels even though WvW maps are not dedicated for those. It’s still rude to interrupt them.

So an achievement done in a PvP zone is a PvP achievement? I guess the kill 5 vets daily can be a PvP achievement too. Not to mention the kill 1 champion daily, and so on and so forth.
(edited by aelflune.8590)
It’s a PvEvP achievement. You can do it in WvW and in PvE… also WvW always has been a mix of PvE and PvP. They also put pure PvE events there. You need to go their for Legendary(for Badges/Gift – and Map Completion) which is mostly PvE.
Also the normal JP achievements are in that zone(while all the other JP achievements are for JPs in PvE environment).
So you can’t complain.
It’s only good since so far they did not pay attention to the WvW players at these monthly content and just made everything into boring PvE zone. It’s nice for us to have 1 achievement. Others should deal with it. You don’t need to do it.
If people don’t want to fight, don’t kill them. They are there for other reasons, and those are legit reasons. What’s so hard about that? You don’t lose out at all. The event doesn’t even last for very long.
If you want to PvP, there are about 4 whole maps to do it on in WvW. And you can still kill people who want to fight in the JP. You have about as much excuse here as people who go to remote locations to crash GvGs and duels.
Thank you, Dr. Gamer. When is my next appointment?

How is it backpedaling? I don’t recall every saying I griefed or camped. I think a big issue for you may be reading comprehension. You may want to tune up on that if you want to keep your clients, Dr. Gamer. Supporting, understanding, and accepting something, doesn’t mean I have to engage in the practice to do so. I enjoy griefing because of people like you who believe they’re above anyone else in a video game. They come to forums to post and complain about something that is fair game. It’s my entertainment during work and coffee breaks.
So PvE players that don’t know how to PvP, walk into a PvP zone and get PvP’d, that makes the PvP players big ol’ meanies and anti-social? (Is that enough uses for PvP? I’m trying to stress my point through repetition). I use to spike volleyballs into the faces and kidneys of my friends on the basketball team. You know what they did? Learned how to play volleyball or got the kitten out the way. See what I did there?
I didn’t even know there was a PvE event going on. In your honor I’m going to camp the JP in my current matchup and dedicate each kill to you. Screen shots incoming.

Sociopath:
Sociopaths are incapable of feeling shame, guilt or remorse. Their brains simply lack the circuitry to process such emotions. This allows them to betray people, threaten people or harm people without giving it a second thought. They pursue any action that serves their own self interest even if it seriously harms others. This is why you will find many very “successful” sociopaths in high levels of government, in any nation.
Sociopaths seek to dominate others and “win” at all costs. They hate to lose any argument or fight and will viciously defend their web of lies, even to the point of logical absurdity.
Sociopaths never apologize. They are never wrong. They never feel guilt. They can never apologize. Even if shown proof that they were wrong, they will refuse to apologize and instead go on the attack.
Might get yourself checked, bro. If you don’t have a morsel of morality for anons, it’s not everyone else that is wrong, it’s you.
Lmao ya I wanna get myself checked when your comparing killing someone in a flipping GAME to being a god kitten socio path…I actually apologize quite a bit but I never will to an arrogant kitten like yourself…if you read some other threads I’ve posted in you will see I admit when I was wrong unless I’m just mega trolling(you ever hear of thakittens an Internet thing too not real life)…
lastly Why so serious?

This comment is ridiculous simply for the fact that you’re trying to compare a video game to ones real life character. Killing or “griefing” players in a JP is no worse than killing a player who is in EB simply to gather materials. That player may not want to PvP, they may just want to run around and explore, gather, etc. But they take the risk of being there, much like you do in the PvP JP’s.
If someone wants to kill you in the JP then good on them for playing how they want. It doesn’t matter if you don’t want to PvP, this JP was put into the game to allow not only for a JP to complete but also for people to fight each other over. You took the risk of going to a PvP zone.

Except that you can gather materials in other places without having to resort to getting camped.
The achievement is linked to a multi-part achievement that is purely PvE. We didn’t put the PvE achievement in your PvP zone.
Let’s put it another way… if there wasn’t a convenient warp in the menu or warpgates in LA and it took 10 PvE players to stand on the NPC that you have to talk to to get to the PvP maps, would you think it was fair that players got together to block you from your content for no reason? You’re on their PvE map. It’s not our fault the only way to get to your content is through ours.
Look, I don’t mind pvp. I just don’t particularly like GW2’s take on it and I find it pretty boring. But putting pve achievements in pvp is just painful for everyone.
Ever think maybe they made it as more of a PVP achievement? Or oh idk something that is actually challenging that makes you work for an achievement! These things aren’t all handed to you sorry, sometimes you actually have to do something in order to get the achievements…also your example is just awful it’s not even worth saying why right now(maybe later)

Collect all the caches. 6 in PvE, 1 in PvP….
yup this is OBVIOUSLY a PvP achievement.
Well than all I have to say is sucks to suck…I have 0 sympathy for you
Well than all I have to say is sucks to suck…I have 0 sympathy for you
Sure takes a lot of skill to camp people.
When you look back at your life one day when you’ve grown up, you’re going to be really sad at how you treat people, and I pity you. Get your trolling and ignorance in while it’s still fun, I don’t blame you.
Collect all the caches. 6 in PvE, 1 in PvP….
yup this is OBVIOUSLY a PvP achievement.
You said it yourself. One is located in a PvP zone, so that one is quite obviously a PvP achievement, and you need to be able to PvP to get it (or be lucky and have friendly mesmers at the ready). It’s really that simple.
Anyway, that’s all besides the point of this thread. This thread is asking that camping / killing other players in a PvP jump puzzle be forbidden, and I strongly disagree with that. Some days I get the jump on others and kill them, and some days I get killed. Most days I don’t even do the JP because I’d rather be out contributing to my server in a more meaningful fashion. That all said, I don’t think PvP should ever be forbidden in the JP, and I don’t think camping should be inhibited or prevented in any fashion. When enemies camp, if you really want in, you get people and you kill the campers. It’s simple.
Brav it’s funny how you think you are so right and superior and can judge me and others in here sooooo well…but everyone has disagreed with you since I’ve posted…also last thing about the camping and killing, there are traps in there to kill people thus anet is saying its ok and encouraged…also I’m sure when I look back at my life I won’t be thinking about anything I did in gw2…again you are a terrible judge of character

I simply have a different opinion.
Simply put, if you’re ok with exploiting and making people suffer at no risk to you, it’s not too far to theorize that the same person would be willing to do so in real life as well.
I don’t mind if people disagree. I don’t care if you have a different opinion, you’re allowed it. The point being is that if all you hear is one side’s opinion all day, everyone will think that that is how everyone accepts it. I’m just standing up for what I believe in.
Camping and the bleeding of PvP in to PvE is not particularly fun to me because I don’t find the PvP in GW2 fun at all. You’re the one throwing insults and being a child about my opinion. Obviously it must mean something to you, or you just want to silence it if you’re going to keep hammering away at it.
Ok here ill be civil…if you don’t like PVP than leave WvW and don’t get this 1 achievemt of the ton in the game no one is making you get it! Also it is in no way exploiting…
Lastly just to prove you wrong I haven’t camped the JP in months and was in there 1 time since this update just seeing the cache for myself(didn’t end up getting but oh we’ll) only reason I’m arguing with you is because I’m bored at work and because you obviously aren’t open to other opinions or you would have stopped arguing by now and accept that you can’t get everything all the time…I’m done with this now…ill be cynical I hope if you haven’t got the cache you never do after all this(again its a game in not wishing cancer or anything on you)
Last time I was in there (this about a month ago) the obsidian sanctum appeared to have been designed for griefing. Just the presence of traps you can trigger to harm other players animals you can release into the arena, says that the designer intended this to be a PvP jumping puzzle where people would fight their way to the top.
However, I think it’s a mistake to make the puzzle part of a PvE living story. It should stay the way it is.
I do not understand how this works,
1) Do player inside this jumping puzzle count towards the amount of players in the map as a whole?
IE when you get in a queue doe these players take up a space?
2) Are players allow to camp at the beginning of this particular jumping puzzle to prevents others from getting to the jumps?
I would like to formally ask that players who aren’t doing any jumping in the Obsidian Sanctum jumping puzzle be kick from the WvW jump puzzle instance because they are griefing other players who actually are trying to get something done, especially during time like this when the goal of one of the achievement is at the end of this jumping puzzle. (The Black Out Cache)
thank you.
I agree with the OP, because I just went to the Obsidian Sanctum JP and I counted 12 – 15 Jade Quarry camping at the beggining, pulling people off the starting platform and killing them. I personally HATE this, and someone should put a stop to this, such as what the OP said (kicking them if they aren’t doing the JP).
xD This happened today with about 20 Magswaggers. We brought in 15 people and wiped them repeatedly until they ran away from spawn and hid. Then we ported people to the top of the JP (which is not an exploit, btw) and wiped them there as well.
Moral of the story: It’s counterable.
Only difference is, the mesmer portalling up was fly hacking. Rest was relatively accurate, though it was 16 at the spawn, the rest somewhere else in the Jp. Fate was good at smearing a bunch of disorganized players, and good at staying tight together. I look forward to running into them with an actual DORP Raid.
The mesmer was SoS. I was on TC.
Learn to run, fight kill… stealth isn’t that far away and you can definitely make it should you utilise logical timing Other than that just make a run for it, that or fight, or again just run for it. Unless you play an upscale or only use skill 1 and 6 it shouldn’t be a problem. As soon as you get the first stealth you’re set… If this is beyond you then make a dash along the start and get to the second one… All you need is stability and a cleanse or two, it really isn’t that hard.
Waiting for a server mate to jump down then running as far as you can along the puzzle is a tactic you can employ as well, although it isn’t really that honourable… If you’re that desperate or useless in a combat situation then go for it, that or can go back to Orr and wallow in despair…
I know it can be hard, but really isn’t difficult to run away or dash a short distance of the puzzle. Keep trying and keep going, I got the achieve the first time I went in there, despite around 9 DE players waiting at the spawn vs our 4. If you really really really badly need that achievement wake up at 3:00am and make your wild dash for freedom.
Simply put, if you’re ok with exploiting and making people suffer at no risk to you, it’s not too far to theorize that the same person would be willing to do so in real life as well.
Umm, yes it is too far to theorize.
I said I would do it. All for you, baby.
For Mr. McSmarts trying to psychoanalyze someone based on a game: you’ve gone full kitten. Try looking at some actual case studies before you start your chest thumping.

The sad/funny thing is these people are completely unable to realise that they have a problem, as many posts in this forum have shown.
I said I would do it. All for you, baby.
I saw that post! I saw it all the way up until it was removed from the forum because it displayed an exploit.
There’s a big difference between using a pvp jp as intended, and camping a spawn point that’s supposed to be safe. Well demonstrated.
Edit: In the topic no one is saying we’re using it as intended. I said I would camp the JP in honor of Dr. Gamer and I did just that. You’re trying to make an argument where there is none.
Oh, you mean just like every other server has spawn camped the BL entrances? Nothing is safe, this is war.
(edited by GuardianOMS.8067)
So your saying I can’t have free siege weapon when you can using a mesmer portal?
So, no quote then?
It is fully possible to stop a mesmer from porting people up. He does have to get there in the first place for one, and then he is a rather easy target and so is the part spot.
I cant quote them because my source was wrong. you still can use mesmer to port people up,
NOW my question to you, you answer, you can use porting to supply a whole server with FREE siege weaponry, but you are complaining that I want to have a chance to try to get up to the puzzle end to complete one lousy achievement?
you answer that.
Use Teamchat ..Say “Anyone wanna join me in doing the JP,please party up with me because im getting killed in there !!”…
P1- Sure
P2 – Add me up !
P3 – I can even portal you !
Youre making it harder for yourself for no apparant reason.

Who, me? What invisible argument am I trying to make? I honestly don’t understand.
The very visible argument I made is that camping an entrance area, be it jp or bl, is a totally normal part of wvw, whereas a dozen engineers using an exploit to get close enough to put a line of flamethrowers onto the exact spawn point isn’t be same thing at all. I suspect that’s why the post you linked has vanished from the forums.
There is no argument.
The thread was deleted just as every post or thread of a server accusing another of hacking/botting/exploiting is, whether it’s true or not. It’s called character/server assassination and it is against the CoC.
You do know you’re invul for quite some time after loading, right? The flamethrowers did nothing, they were all for a screen shot.

The only reason I log into this game is for WvW, so I hate having to do all the PvE bullkitten to get the cool optional stuff in this game. Forgive me if I don’t give a kitten if people don’t like coming into WvW once in a blue moon for optional stuff.
Way back when, I was like the OP. I got ticked off that people would just kill some innocent player wanting to finish getting my achievement points by completing OS. As I’ve played more and more, thought process changed.
Now, when me or someone in my guild wants to do the OS JP and find out there are groups of an opposing server camping the beginning, arena, or end, instead of whining about it we make a call out to our guild and we go in and wipe out the campers! And you know what? Those very timid types of players who stay completely away from WvW or sPvP eventually come and join us and have a blast doing it! Why do we go in there and camp? Because it’s payback to all the other servers that have prevented us in the past.
Case in point, last night there were Kaineng or Emery Bay camping the beginning. A guild mate called out, we all rallied. Within about 10 minutes we had 12 from my guild there [MoB]. We wiped out the campers and kept them at bay while more of our guild mates arrived. We then went on our merry way to complete the puzzle for each and every one of out guildies.
Afterwards, we decided to have more fun…and it was a blast! To all the Kaineng and Emery Bay involved last night, thanks for helping all of us in [MoB] that were there get our monthly WvW kills in about an hour. And playing King of the Hill on that little cliff was SO much fun and hilarious to see who could knock the others off before getting knocked off yourselves. And to keep that going for a good 30 to 40 minutes…that’s the most fun I’ve had in WvW ever!
Hey, have a solution. Griefers should camp between the aetherblade cache and the completion chest. That way, pve’ers can get the achievement and griefers can get their badges / prevent other servers from getting seige
The map is for griefing. By design, you can even grief your allies and kill them. It’s the only map that has PvP enabled without an objective, makes no guarantee for even numbers, even gear, even anything, and gives you a thousand traps to do murder with.
You don’t want to be griefed, don’t go there. You finding it tough to get an achievement? Guess then it’s a tough achievement. If nothing else, farm some CoF and pay for the two way transfer to a lower tier server. Obsidian Sanctum is plenty empty in my matches.
I have been in there several times and I’d like to know…
Where are the fountains and what do they look like? I have not seen one fountain in there. Are they in a nook or hidden by a wall?
The fountain I know of is right before you go up the wooden planks up the well. Right before you go in, on the left is a bit of rocky hill you can climb. The fountain is at the top.

How about the one to the dark room? Is that one down below the entrance or in the dark room itself?
