Old Engi WvW noob
Engineer’s are more of a support role. Bomb is alright, however engineers don’t have a whole lot of survive ability close range, so I like to try to keep at range.
Here are skills I focus on…
Elixir Gun
Elixirs
Toolkit
Grenades
Net Turret
Heal Turret
My build right now is a roaming support. I run toolkit, elixir gun, and net turret. I run with groups of 5-6 and I can basically lock someone down for 10 seconds with immoblize while my roaming friends just destroy him. I have a ton of condition removal and heals, so if one of my friends starts getting conditions on him and dieing, I use elixir #5 for some condi removal and heals, healing turret + detonate for even more healing, 2 toolbelt regents, and the elixir gun condi removal if needed.
Right now Necromancers and Engineers are probably in the worst position in WvW and are the hardest classes to play in WvW. Necromancers don’t have too many escapes and immobilize them can easily counter them, engineers are either sacrificing all of their damage to have more survive ability or sacrificing their survive ability for damage. They said they might fix it next balance patch, so we’ll see.

This section might help you out a bit with your builds.
IGN: Luxit
As an engineer with 3,000 hours of play on my character I can tell you….there is hope! After much messing around with builds I have found not only one, but two that are viable in WvW. The biggest thing to remember is that engineer is a hard class to play. There is no getting around that. There is a skill barrier and if you are not up to the challenge then I suggest you try a different class.
That being said the first build I use, which is for zerging, is for high dps and healing Water fields are one of the most important things for an organized group, and with the short cooldown on healing turret, you are a great asset to your zerg.
Healing Turret is the BIGGEST WATER FIELD IN THE GAME. Make sure to use that water field on regroup, and your commander will have water fields at almost any time during a fight.
Also, Elixir gun is a must. Not only can you use it to get out of bad situations with the #4 skill, but you can also heal and lay a light field to remove conditions/grant retaliation. And remove conditions from your group with the #3 skill as well!
The second Utility you will want to use is for survivability. As an engineer you don’t have great escapes, Elixir Gun isn’t always enough. Or you may want to get through a zerg without getting crushed beneath it. For this use Elixir S. 3 seconds of invulnerability is a life saver.
Third Utility you will want to use for zerg fights is Grenades. I was a skeptic and hated grenades for a long time, but they really can be a great tool and make you a huge asset during those big fights. The thing is, with grenades you will have to sacrifice a bit of survivability, as grenades in all PTV is just not good enough. Which moves me on to the next part. GEAR.
You will want to use as much Berserker gear as you can get away with and not die. So basically have two sets of gear, one PTV, one Berserkers. Put on full Berserkers and add more PTV until you are comfortable with how much you can survive during fights. That’s where skill comes in, because the more skilled you are, the more Berserkers you can use without dying.
For traits you will want to maximize damage, 30/30/0/10/0. The important traits are any 20% faster recharge rates, extra grenades/farther range, and Elixir S on 25% health. Other than those you can pick what you think is best.
This build is for a ranged playstyle, so you will want to keep out of the front of your zerg. Keep to the back and the sidelines and don’t get ran over by that Melee train. The most important thing you can do for your team is survive throughout a fight so that you can rain down continuous AoE damage and load the enemy up with conditions.
Engineer, when played well, is one of the best and most versatile, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! Have fun out there, and I hope this helped anyone who wants to play engineer
Pain Train Choo [Choo] Leader

Thank You.
Yes this was more or less the kind of build I was doing ..
PPC Accessories with mixed gear PT V/C .. here’s a screen that might help

TBH, my encounters with engineers is that they are ether brilliant and smart in gameplay or kinda awful. I wouldn’t lay blame in nerfs, nerfs are there for a reasons eve if you don’t agree, the point was something was having an unfair effect on gameplay. Just adapt is my advice, like I said some outstanding engineers out there.
Kit refinement, incedairy powder, elixir s and confusion got nerfraped so much that i cant find any words for that, meanwhile all other classes got huge buffs.
You can still do fine but you have to work twice as hard.
Best example are rangers they really hard to beat right now and all they do is spam autoattack and rampage as one while i have to pull everything of and dance through kits like mad. Balance is a mess.
What gear set is that?
- Do you mean on stats? mixing Power/Toughness with Critical/Vitality
- The Looks mixed Sorrow’s Embrace/ Caudecus’s Manor and Human / Asura Cultural

- Heya natzmc.2895 ; Kontrolle.3514
- Exactly I would rather adapt than start all over, and I’m ready to work twice as hard
;(
I’m rolling with this and having a blast: http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fcAQJAqel0p6ZH5SfF1LJxIFdW0hKgfRPyfld8nCyF-jkyAorgQfAJQAZvioxWOLiGreBTXCoRXUtHPYekFVLDAzaA-w
I run traited grenades on my Engineer in WvW. I’ve been using 30/0/10/20/10 – Grenadier, Explosive Descent, Invigorating Speed, Speedy Kits. Elixir Gun and Elixir C or S. It’s good artillery but not ideal in 1v1. Perma-haste and vigour mean I can keep up, and get away, most of the time.
I’m now running a 30/30/10/0/0 build with tough/prec/condition armor, it’s going pretty well so far and learning new ways to play with dual pistol and wrench, also still have my made kit too for Zerging/defending and it owns as always
Asuran Engineer (Lost)
meanwhile all other classes got huge buffs.
huh…really…
/turns to other necros
“did we?” ….“no?”….
/turns back
really…
Timelord to Lillium Honeybuns, IoJ
Forever together, or not at all.
Here’s one of the engineer pro players, i based my build on his. the link below is my build, i forget where he posted his build, but u can go look for it thru his acct user.

Hey guys again thank you for the replies,
But lets not get too much off topic this not a poll on which class is better.
Yes decided to give it a second shot tbh it’s the only class I like, yes I know the hgh p/p from Maskaganda.2043 and from many other variants of that build, still that’s not what I’m looking for, used to run with blobs (mainly in front of them, that would make me a “semi-tanky-melee-n-supporter”) in wvw not roaming, examples: in zvz my attack position would be at the warrior/guardian side tagging the most opponents in line until I got stunned/locked, then poped my breaker followed by using elixir gun jump back, leaving some fields to support the rest, then straight back into the front line.
This is just a poor scratched example but gives a picture of what i cant do anymore.
Been cursed for loving only this class and only like the builds that get nerfed.. <.<
I just don’t know how to replace the damage absorption 2 invulnerable(s) could do.
These same skills are still there, but maybe they need to be used differently. But how?
Also i just don’t want to go back to being the ranged p/p that’s stays on the back..
That is why some kind of bomb build will be more of what I’m looking for.
@ tsubus.8761 : Your build sounds nice I like the runes of vampirism and most .. the but is .. you have got huge power but no preci/crit to back it up neither the condition cap to make it viable (just my view)
What do you think of : http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fcAQJAqel0pqbH5SfF87IxoHdW0bGUBAL6R+rsjB-jEyAorgQfAJQAZvioxWOLiGruGT7SEVbwLiWtQAs2AA-w
This is more or less what I am used to, took off some power and putted it into vita.

Been following this post and finally you wrote what i wanted to read. That is exactly how i want to plqy my engineer.. frontliner with good damage.. working on a build involving bombs but cant seem to get it to work very well.. i want power build no condition damage stacking, im bored of that

If you want to be a frontline guy who runs bombs go for it. I do it in full PVT and love it.

I know a frontliner bomber engineer in a T1 server(Jade Quarry) who has over 50k kills with just 3.5k deaths and I’m pretty sure it’s the only class he ever plays. I’m not sure how you can say engineers don’t have much survivability in close range.
Gear Shield 3 secs block
Shield #5 2 secs block
Elixir S 3 secs invulnerability
Elixir S from Self-Regulating defenses is another 3 secs invulnerability
Perma Swiftness and Vigor given that you traited for it
Just use this skills wisely and you have your so called survivability.
