One step forward 2 steps back.
Well, the people calling help could have specified the map they are on, but they are lazy, so let’s blame arena net.

Can always just ask; what with communication being 2 way…

Don’t argue with idiots, they pull you down their level and own you with experience.
You could just be in one large guild that spans all three servers. Then just communicate in guild chat. SOLVED. Of course, with matchup changes this may be complicated. Perhaps a scone instead?

Quote of the day!
I like scones, especially with…bacon!
Whiteknighting is always funny.
Of course people can add their map in the message, but it shouldn’t be necessary since it seems stupid easy to add tags to names in team chat. Just put an EB, RBL etc after the name and it would be sufficient. Why make this awesome feature and fail at this very simple thing?!
“Of course people can add their map in the message, but it shouldn’t be necessary”
Well it is. Maybe you’d have a better time if you stopped focusing on how things OUGHT to be versus how they are. If we get the map next to the name it’s a good thing but till then the problem exists between the keyboard and chair.

1. Giving feedback is usually considered a good thing, though I see many would preffer the crowds to just line up and thank ANet regardless of reality.
2. I see that victim blaming is a very real thing on the forum. Yeah, I know it’s a mild comparison, but it applies.
Whatevs. It’s gonna be somewhat useful, even though it’s done in the typical ANet manner of stopping just short of the promise land.
It’s not victim blaming, is it? Who’s the victim, the guy who’s on EB and complaining about not being able to “get a doly” on team chat? Yeahh…
If people were denied intelligence I would call them victims, otherwise.. naah.
Cross team chat is a great tool, people just need to use it smartly.
And besides most servers only have one bay, hills and one garri and if you’re attacking an enemy keep you usually don’t need help from other maps.

Victim blaming because you can’t type useful messages? Haha! No, you’re blaming your faults on others. Simple as that.
Yes, of course it’s good feedback and should obviously be the next logical step if people ask, but maybe not everyone who thinks exactly like you is a white knight for ANet. I think Jeknar and I are the last people you’d see coming to Anet’s defense on anything and I’m the most bitter and cynical person when it comes to them.
So maybe I’m not coming to their defense, maybe I’m just tired of people not taking responsibility for their actions, like it’s Anet’s fault that they can’t think logically (“Oh team chat doesn’t specify what map i’m talking from, better clarify in my message”). But because anet is involved, suddenly I’m a white knight. No, it’s just common sense.
I’m finding people who think they need to be at the opposite end of the White Knight for ANet spectrum in everything just a little bit annoying. Maybe there isn’t a spectrum and you don’t have to be on it. Maybe there isn’t a reason to act like a child, maybe everything isn’t black and white, maybe the world doesn’t work like that.
“Victim” to their own laziness? Yea I’ll blame that. So yes, both the user and the creator should take responsibility.
It’s my own bias against terrible scouting. People give vague/late calls and then rage when people aren’t psychic and understand what they’re doing. If you aren’t putting the effort to clarify yourself, then don’t cry when nobody understands you.
Anet screws up like, 80% of new features. This is true. Call them out on it and demand a way to know where the user came from. It could definitely be better. But at the same time, don’t you think that if we all have to design programs like it’s a padded cell because people are just too lazy to figure out how to use things, it’d prevent new features from being made due to this fear?
Tools can only be as good as the person that uses them. But I guess this is why you have to dumb every thing down these days. That still doesn’t mean it’s wrong to add more tools.

The more you dumb down stuff the dumbier people will be overall.

Team chat is hilarious right now. It’s amazing how many people don’t even bother to read patch notes. Also a bunch that are used to using /t out of habit.
It’s a good feature though. I wish we’d gotten more but wvw has had more changes recently than it has in a long time. At least we’re not quite back to getting nothing yet.
The guys I asked whether or not they knew knew, they just used teamchat for all their offtopic anyway. BECAUSE THEY ARE THE VICTIMS, YES?!
But alas, maybe they will smarten up. Lets give it a few weeks.

This is what I saw in your post & have to agree.
Warning stickers & labels are really important & sometimes can graphically inform the user on what they should not be doing…because sometimes people really don’t know the consequences.
Yeah…It’s kind of like the Hot Coffee label…but it could also be

Wonders if we could reference how Combat chat was setup…
Allow multiple BL map options that could be toggled on or off by the player.
Also, it would be nice to perhaps use text color based on assigned map colors.
Example channel labels below.
Green BL>
Red BL>
Blue BL>
EBG>
ANet…thank you for trying to improve things. The thought was there…and now you’re probably hoping the community will respond with feedback to help improve things together.
Don’t envy your position…you get blamed for every little thing, but get very little praise when things are working normally.

Just as kittenome one saying inc in /s chat but that it. It would be nice to have the bl they are in apart of the chat but its not needed and realty if a call out is coming though /t and they do not give that info nor do you ask for it then its more on your team then anet.

@title – More like a step and a stumble forward.
It’ll take a few days for people to learn to tag their callouts when necessary, and the “I CAN ANNOY EVERYONE ACROSS MY TEAM NOW!” novelty will wear off soon as well.

lol the funny thing is that if there’s a label for something, it means someone has tried it! >.> I guess we could have a mouse over note that describes a bit better but you can only help people so much.
I only logged on a few minutes today to do dailies and found an example. It was faster to find the enemies myself. Yea I know you might be getting mobbed and can’t type much, but….
