WvW = INSULTING… Word…
Remove the orbs as well, it makes coming back impossible, not only are you outmaned, not only are you out maneuvered(they have every waypoint), you are also out buffed.
There’s literally no chance.
It is a fantastic buff…for PvE. I think they expect people who are outmanned to go farm the creatures in the WvW zones…

I suppose you can look at it that way, but when I see Outmanned my first thought is to go solo Yaks and supply camps or fight frogs / dredge in EBG. That may be PVE but it’s still PVP proactive PVE.

It’s basically saying “Your server is bad and you should feel bad. If you insist on staying here, go PvE something.”

Orbs should be giving the loot bonus, maybe also a bonus in server buff gains. Ya know a kittening reward for being #1.
Outmanned buff should give the +% to HP and Stats and also a new thing +damage to siege. Ya know so Outmanned servers stand a kittening chance.
Outmanned should, work the ways Orbs do, and Orbs the way Outmanned does. Outmanned should also, let freshly capped towers of the team who has the buff instantly upgrade gates and walls, with full supply for upgrading siege defense. Towers, not castles or garrisons.

I call it “losers buff”.
Losers buff is not for helping.
It’s a sign for winning team to stop holding and zerg all your stuff.
Yep the buff is outright funny. Whoever invented it must have been on some really potent mushrooms found in deepest dredge caves only. We loose 10-1, we get +magic find! Yay, lets kill the grub? I mean this is a buff for bots, clearly, so they can farm the snakes in the lake.
The buff should be simple,
Assuming your server is outnumbered…
Na = number of people on your server
Ne = number of people on enemy server
Enabled only if Na < Ne and Na * Ne != 0 (there are any people playing on each side)
Ad = maximum power of the buff, for example 3, to avoid silly situations when the enemy outmans you 50-1 etc.
Ah = like the above but sets the maximum multiplier for health increase
Damage Increase = + minimum(Ad, Na/Ne) * 100%
This scales the damage from 100% to 300% assuming Ad == 3 based on the amount of enemy advantage. In other words, if the enemy has 1.5 times as many people as you, your damage is increased by 150%. If the enemy has the same number of people as you, your damage is unchanged. If the enemy has 3x or more people as you, the Ad limit fixes your buff at a selected maximum level, in the above example, 300% damage.
Health Increase = + minimum(Ah, Na/Ne) * 100%
Increased health in a similar fashion.
The equations can be more fancy if needed but the basic idea is simple, continuous, smooth scaling of the bonuses to damage and health for the outmanned team. This smooth non-discrete buff style will help against tactics to log out people in order to get the buff. The added power will help greatly against large numbers or weaker enemies, and on top it will make playing in a loosing team FUN, since you will feel like superheroes.
The current out-manned buff is really a joke!
You are out-manned in a fight, you need free repair from defeat, increase in your attribute by 50% to survive when you are OUT-MANNED.

As much as I’m enjoying WvWvW, I do agree that the Orbs and Outmanned buffs are pretty much reversed, resulting in the cascading one-sided battles we currently have. Strong sides only get stronger, while weaker sides get nothing to help them.
Nah man it’s great as it is, like when the enemy server has a 200k lead 4 days in, has all 3 orbs, outnumbers you on every map, and are also super soldiers to boot, this is what we need, we need extra Karma and ex……lol sorry couldn’t keep that going.

I agree with the first part but you just cannot have the second part of your post, you’d just have skirmish teams during the night capping towers and keeps with so few people that swords don’t show up, then they cap it and it instantly gets upgraded to look like King’s Landing? Then all you’d see is “hey we got Ascension, it’s fully upgraded now EVERYONE COME” then the rest of their guild could jump in, it would be a mess.

although i agree that rewarding the winning server with the orb buff probably isnt a good idea, i would have to disagree with giving it to the losing server.
you shouldnt suddenly be able to kill people just because youre losing, you should be able to kill them because of how well you pvp.
if you give the “outmanned” server bonus stats just for being outnumbered, its like telling the server with higher pop. to continue zerging because theres no way you can have a fair fight if the numbers are even.
I agree also. This week was the first time that I have been playing with a 3 orb bonus. It made a huge difference in the way I was able to roll over people. The orbs should have a diminishing return. Maybe like 40 30 20. It would still give a buff and keep the added complexity in the game.
An idea for the out maned buff could be that you get leveled to 81. More glancing blows taken plus a little bit more staying power. Would really help keep people in the map which is needed so that you don’t just have people going around getting map completion on an empty map.

Just throwing out ideas man, and I said it should not be applied to keeps, just towers. People would abuse it, that’s for sure, but I would argue for these one sided maps we’ve been seeing for the last few weeks, having a fortified starting point(s) such as 2 towers in your own BL, would go a long way to helping the really outmanned servers. For keeps, if taken, you could have the insta waypoint upgrade in place of fortified walls/doors

If you are on losing sever, with outmaned buff then you have less players to fight with, the buff would not be something to make you a supper hero that is op all of a sudden but it would help even the odds of the fight, and create an environment that would promote people on that server to play, and possibly have more people join it removing the buff creating an even playing field once more.
The least drastic fix would be to double or triple the existing outmanned buff. As is the reward gain is too small to provide good incentive to jump in and balance the odds. The outmanned buff should be good enough that capping supply becomes more rewarding on average than the most repeatable Orrian event chains.

The only thing I use the buff for is leveling alts on 5min reset event in WvW area’s :p Just followed the huge stack of bots farming the event – easy exp and extra magic find – and you dont have to fight a pointless war against people who outnumber you, holds all the objectives and have crazy orb-buffs. Its just Anet way of telling us they dont care about WvW.
