PVP Changes in WvW
“PvP” refers to the sPvP environment. WvW goes by the PvE ruleset.
I don’t mean to be rude, but do you have a source?
they usually specify wvw and pvp when discussing. check the update. they will say pvp or wvw.

The best part is the big FU aNet gave to all the people that cry that Portal needs nerfed. The increased Portal cool down did nothing to change portal tactics in WvW. It was more of an sPvP nerf. ANet basically said shut up and quit whining about Portal nerfs, it’s fine, ROFL. I love it.

WvW and PvP are definitely not the same beast. I don’t have a source exactly, but take a look at the Guardian’s Save Yourselves. It was changed to be 5s duration in PvP and left alone for PvE.
In sPvP, the duration (without boon duration) is 5 seconds.
In WvW and PvE, the duration (without boon duration) is still 10 seconds.

They really can not apply changes to WvW that they did because some are really overtop and would really cripple a class in PvE part of WvW.

Actually they nerfed Dancing Daggers and thank god because that skill was just crazy.
But I’m afraid Thief has so many of these crazy skills that once ANet nerfs one of them, the next one in a row is used and the difference is like 10%..
yeah they do have an effect on wvsw!And its nearly impossible now to put up siege at the wall as the rangers kill it immediately and the thieves snatch everyone off the wlls so ther is like no chance to defend a keep properly!just got snatched off the wall at the inner keep of smc and wasnt even close to the edge so that has to change otherwise wvsw becomes extremly unbalanced.

In addition, I would like to see some adjustments to WvW separate from PvE. I can already get 1-shot from some Thief builds. I imagine this will only worsen when the new ascended gear hits. Why didn’t these changes make it into WvW?
So awesome. This is an official confirmation that GW2 has broken the Turing test. Here i thought I was fighting “players” all these weeks, but turns out it was still AI mobs just like PvE. Amazing AI! No wonder those thieves didn’t need any nerfs beside one skill that isn’t even flavour of the month.

I’m pretty sure that would require a massive overhaul of the current system. Since WvW doesn’t distinguish from PvE, they would have to code that functionality from the ground up. I wouldn’t hold your breath.
Odd, I recall the majority of my time in WvW being spent fighting players from other servers. If the classes were deemed out of balance in relation to one another why would these balances not apply in a PvP arena?

Because its a pve area the objectives is part of world map completed.
Also WvW was never meant to be fair or competitive like PvP. ANet officially said that. It’s meant to be an epic battle in a PvE environment.

Then it’s time to change that.
If there wasn’t already enough to show how lame WvW is for pvp. This is the nail that the coffin gets before it’s buried. Arenanet’s daoc rvrlite… is a big failure in my eyes.

So the weakest of the bunker builds gets nerfed to high heaven (Elementalist) which coincidentally kills a significant portion of my dungeon support and group healing in WvW, but Thieves still get to Backstab me for +7k? Not cool bro, not cool

You guys should consider extending the sPvP rules to WvW. There’s a lot of stuff that’s overpowered/messed up in WvW because you continue to use PvE rules instead of sPvP rules, which are actually balanced for, you know, fighting other players.
Anet cannot extend sPvP rules to WvW. Doing so will mean they cannot charge repair bill in WvW. This would be a great drain on their revenue.

This really makes no sense. It’s not a PVE mode. Sure there are a couple, largely weak and irrelevant NPCs you deal with in WvW, and sometimes players will just wander around kill mobs if their side is losing terribly, but 95% of the intended mechanic in WvW is players fighting other players. Not counting static structures like doors, or siege, which profession balance issues aren’t going to largely affect anyway, nor that people will care about.
sPVP has PvE monsters in it as well such as Svanir and the Chieftan, as well as siege machines like Trebs and Cannons, but those are not used as a reason to prevent better balance of professions. Changes need to affect both modes.
They do need to get at least all the skill changes and and stuff like the downed state changes over to WvW. I’ll take the nerfs for the overall benefits.
A lot of adjustments are made re the meta of 5v5 and labelled pvp changes. I am glad they don’t apply to WvW, because when you start dealing with large groups of people some of the recently nerfed skills would be currently useless in WvW.

WvW is officially the red headed step child of GW2. It will take forever to be fixed at this rate and it will never get the attention it deserves. It’s a shame because it easily is the best mode when it’s working right and you don’t feel like your losing thanks to game/balance issues.
Sorry, but why? WvWvW isn’t PvP in your eyes or what? I don’t get it. This makes like absolutely no sense whatsoever. WvWvW IS PvP, the classes which are overpowered in sPvP are also be overpowered in WvWvW.

See, when I read stuff like that, I just get more of the feeling that WvW is not going to be like the the RvR in DAoC that I loved. Don’t get me wrong, I love WvW right now and it is the closest thing to DAoC that I have played in years, but my hope of WvW being something special rather than just an ‘extra’ thing to do gets crushed when WvW is pilled into the mamby pamby land of PvE.
Really, we have separate specs and gear for PvE, separate specs and gear for SPvP, why not for WvW?
