I would like to achieve a different rank for my playstyle through WXP. The current system really encourages zerging to quickly amass WXP. Maybe if we had different titles that identified how we achieved our WXP we could promote a little more defense on the game or smaller teams would be rewarded for their skill to accomplish more with less. Supply is the lifeblood of WvW, however, I don’t get any WXP rewards for protecting it…Hmm but if I let the enemy flip my camp I can then kill them, then their yak, and recap the camp and get WXP. This also works on structures as well. This doesn’t excite me for the direction we are heading in for WvW incentives. I know you guys will get it right but I just wanted to voice what I’m seeing in game at the current time.

On behalf of my fellow server-mates, I want to emphasise that this is very important and deserves developer attention.
So I don’t know if this is the best place to do this (and it probably isn’t), but Habib started it..
The most recent update has finally realized most of the hopes and dreams I had regarding world versus world all those years ago when we first started talking about it around the office (somewhere in the 2007 or 2008 area).
I hope youre referring to the ability to finally see everyone on the screen, and not the creation of karma trains.
We should have more WvWdialog between players and devs. I thought the conversation went very well between us for culling (I appreciate this fix more than Anet will ever know). This type of discussion would be heathly in that Anet could have our perspective on ideas and how they would change our play style before it is implemented, i.e. WXP. This was definitely wanted by the population, however, its unintended consequence promotes the aspect of the game that doesn’t need any motivation; the zerg.

Are u guys gonna work on improving the maps or adding new ones? I love wvw and its pretty much the only thing I play atm, but the maps are getting a little old and all the tactics are always the same. I think changes on maps would draw a lot more people back.

Prioritize fixing the WvW Q so it works properly or increase map caps… extra map… something. I should never sit for 3+ hours in a Q when people who Q up AFTER me get in faster.

Huge thanks to Habib, Mike and everyone else who worked on removing Culling from WvW. The game now plays like I always hoped and imagine that it would. You guys did an amazing job and should rightfully feel very proud of yourself.
To the new guy: don’t worry about trying to prevent zerging, or the new fashionable term ‘the blob’. As a player in a guild who has a 20-man group that can wipe a 100-man blob, everything is fine there. Players just need to get better at working together to counter it. Trying to mess with the game to discourage certain behaviour will always end in disaster.
Better to encourage more diverse, co-operative play by giving players the tools they need. What would really help are changes to let commanders actually command. Better chat, icons, map tools and so on.
VOIP is absolutely essential to beat the blob, but it’s hard to send someone the link for your teamspeak when they can’t copy and paste from the chat window. Many players assume that map chat and say chat are the only way they can communicate. It would be good to have some kind of ‘official’ VoIP app which is supported in the game somehow, even if you guys aren’t providing the servers.
I think the maps are getting a little old now. It would be amazing if we could have some kind of map rotation. Don’t throw the old maps out, but we do need a little variety I think.
i have a couple points i wanted to ask
The outmanned buff isn’t really helping anyone as it is right now (besides lower repairs), are there any plans to improve its functionality.
Defending keeps is a lot harder then it is to attack at times due to vision and aiming being impaired. Also with pulls and such it is nigh impossible to get close enough to do damage safely without falling to your death. I thought of ideas like maybe stabilty and protection on walls maybe.. Your thoughts?
Are there any other plans for earning wex pee. There are many other ways of helping the war efforts besides balling up, killing people and taking keeps. It seems at times most of the reward systems in wvw need a little tinkering.
on that note do you have any thoughts on making people spread out more.. the aoe cap seems like it often promotes this tactic.. how about scaling lords based on the amount of people attacking too..or having multiple control points within keeps in order to capture them.
Oh, and Can we look amazingly awesome too pls.. the constant upskirt shots on my invaders gear is a little unsettling

I think it would be great if you could look into the North American Tier 8 matchup. There are almost always poor matches in Tier 8 and I think that this needs to stop.
I dont understand why they keep saying “see you on the battlefield” because theres no way in hell any of the anet guys play this game considering how broken or useless (ranger for one) some of the classes are.

Good luck new guy, I hope you listen to the community and sort out all the various issues that exist in wvw- I’m sure there was a list here somewhere, it ran to a few hundred pages.
First order of business: disable being able to stomp from stealth- bad enough being hit for 6k by cluster bomb (checks all ranger single skills, nothing comes close in one hit for the ‘masters of range’) then 6k /8k/6k/6k macro attack then stealth while he decides which side to stomp you from whilst you can’t see him.
Please dont listen to people like this. GRDs and WARs have stability to stomp, Engis have the tiny potion, Eles have mist form, etc. THF only has stealth and can still be hit by all CC’s and AOEs and everything else, unlike the other jobs. If anything, THF needs it’s stomping ability buffed to be in line with the overpowered abilities others have, not nerfed. Thanks and welcome to the team. Now give me back my 3 second revealed timer or change everything about THF to 4 second cycles instead of 3. The auto attack, the poison on the 3rd hit of dagger main hand, stealth base timer, the sword from stealth move needs its stun bumped up to 3 seconds instead of 2, etc. The half hearted not thought through 4 second change ruined the job far more than Anet probably intended. Also, pistol/dagger condition damage is vastly less effective now, if you stick with a 4 second timer you need to add 2-3 more hits to the from stealth pistol attack.

Wow other thread got buried, so i post this again in hopes that is seen by a dev.
Things I think should be addressed
Guardian skills -Wall of Reflection- -Sanctuary- and -Shield of Absorbtion- need to actually work against Ballistas/Trebs
Trebbers need love Give them Wxp Exp Karma Silver etc.
Make all Camp/Tower/Keep Guards scale with the amount of enemies on the map just like PvE Events do.
Raise Guard Level should increase +5 on top of scaling at least for the amount of money and supply it costs.
The yak speed and supply refreshing in camps needs to increase or make it an upgrade(WvW moves faster than originally tested)
Breakout should only happen on the HOME map! you should not get a free supply siege ride on someone elses map.
Ballista needs to fire from the actual tip of of Ballista (it seems to fire from behind the shield thing cause blocking even though the tip is cleary unobstructed from wall lips etc.
New Skill Ballista -Spread Shot- Fix the Range tooltip to the correct range and/or fix the skill so it does shoot upto 3000 and so that it can shoot up or down.
Show how many allies and enemies are on any map, a simple number along side the score (this shouldn’t be hidden at all)
Commanders should be able to see all Home Players anywhere on the map that they are on (maybe tie it with Squad)
Give people more of a reason to be in area of a commander (Buffed like siegerazer?)
Waypoints should only be contested if enemies are within 1000 range, I mean come on, I plink a guard and boom something 6000 away is contested?
If you insist on having animals in WvW please make them into ambient critters (or get rid of them completely)
Is he stepping down or was he poisoned by the cookies sent by tier 8? Who can know for sure?

Something that’s remained a mystery for FAR too long is how many points the objectives in WvW are worth, with Dolyaks currently being the most unnecessarily mysterious. Does our new WvW Coordinator know how many points these little supply carriers are actually worth, and if so, is he willing to share some of the details with us? This is actually very important information for even basic gameplay in WvW, and VERY difficult to test so far.
There are at least 3 major theories floating around about this, but testing in WvW is completely unreliable; last night I watched the points tick up by 26 at the EXACT moment a Yak died. Of course, I don’t believe that a Yak is worth 26 points under any circumstance as that would be completely game breaking, but it’s just an example of how unreliable this sort of testing is. It does feel like we’re playing blindfolded without this information, as we’re playing a competitive game for points, but without even knowing how many points we get for several of the objectives in WvW. Dolyaks (Supply Caravans) are currently the most mysterious and frustrating.

Hey Devon, four simple things:
1) I’m always broke in game because wvw offers so little money. Can bags drop more coins?
2) can bags just be auto looted?
3) I’d like boulders and bombs and other environmental weapons on the field, just because the boulder knockdown is boss.
4) Engineers should have the ability to fix siege. This is an absolute must IMO.

Can you give a little insight behind the veil at Anet regarding the whole siege turtling on keeps/towers vs open field fights. Which do you try to promote, which do you think is more fun to the community and do you think there will be a realisation soon that allowing these “blobs” to sit inside towers/keeps holding bottlenecks really does add quite a large sum of frustration to the game and as such a decrease in HP on reinforced/fortified doors/walls might help in this regard as it will promote offensive defence as opposed to the current turtle strat.
On the contrary i believe gates should have an HP increase due to the increase in group sizes (Blobs) becoming a normality Gates are going down too fast, i do not believe blobbing in towers is to hide from conflict it’s a step being taken purely for defensive means. If the doors where stronger in the face of a zerg smaller numbers could hold out longer for reinforcements instead of sticking large groups on permanent guard duty, scouts are no longer enough iv witnessed a zerg crash through a tier 3 outer garrison in less than a minute with no time for defenders to reinforce.
Number #1 on my wish list for WVW would be a Darkness Falls (DAOC)-like dungeon in WVW, accessed from the regular game world, which has entrances on all 3 WVW servers but only 1 server is allowed access to it at a time. Access can be obtained by WVW objectives only, eg: whichever server holds the most of (SM + borderkeep garrisons). When ownership changes hands, it becomes a hotbed of PVP as the new owners clean out the old.
The important thing is to populate it with high-end PVE content/rewards, and keep it PVP-enabled so there is risk.

DF was not part of an expansion, so yeah he’s mistaken.
The nice thing about Darkness Falls (besides being great PVE/PVP content) is that it also functions as a reverse-undermanned bonus, i.e. it removes some number of players from the strongest WVW side, which narrows the power differential between strongest/weakest server in the matchup.
