Randomly loading in players when near them, this is ruining WVW.
I did not experience this problem right after the game went live, before the player limits in WvW occurred. I still do not experience it in medium size battles where are all servers are medium population.
maybe it’s because ur setting ?
i had this problem only one time when i set lowest graphic and then i changed to medium… it never happens again
This issue has nothing to do with client settings. I have tried every combination of every graphics settings on two different computers with two different brand graphics cards.
This is a pretty huge problem atm. I have to teleport into the zerg, throw up a shield and leap out to get them all to load.
I am playing on Max settings across the board.
Where is the “load everyone” at a normal clipping range option?
got fight on keep for around 20min..
a friend told me : "why dont you pull these on rampart to you?
i never saw them poping :l
Definitely a huge problem and not a client setting issue as I’m running on max/ultra on everything aside from reflections and shadows and I’m using a SSD.
The draw distance is atrocious in this game. Enemies and NPCs just warp into your view. You can even duplicate this on Lion’s Arch in the crafting area when there’s a lot of players and NPC mixed in. Start running with a speed buff and see how characters phase into existence a few feet in front of you. That’s death when it happens in mass pvp.
This a draw distance setting issue on Anet’s end. I played Lineage 2 extensively and that game is running on the old unreal engine that’s over a decade old and it could still draw hundreds of players on the horizon. Surely this engine could handle it as well but currently it seems to be turning players models off to boost framerate. This might be acceptable in town but it’s not when you’re in WvW.

your hdd is not good enough to load all the textures thats why you see players slowly loading on your screen
you should get a good SSD (i mean good not a cheap crap SSD :P)
It’s a system wide setting known as clipping. The players don’t clip in graphically to not overload the server and the player’s hardware. This is supposed to reduce lag and hardware resource load. There is nothing that can be done to fix this on the players end and is entirely controlled by Anet. This was added during the BWE events to reduce the WvWvW server lag, and to lower the resource load on the players end.

It’s insane that it is set up like this. Seeing the enemy is the most important aspect of pvp….
I made a post about this the first day the forums were open:
I’ve also collected in there links to numerous other threads here on these forums discussing the same problem. There’s been no official response or acknowledgement.
I have noticed this as well the past few days, and it is really annoying. As others have said, it wasn’t happening in the beginning. Half the time, I won’t even see them until I’m dead. I tried turning down my settings to see if that would help, but it was still the same.

Nope. Has nothing to do with my SSD. Like I said, I played L2 and it has open world pvps. I could see people from a mile away in that game.
Anet seems to have capped the character limits to boost framerates.

If this were true all mechanical HDDs would fail, right? It’s not an issue bound by client side I/O.
I’ve had this happen to me on a number of occasions and usually laugh. What is going through my enemy’s mind: why the hell is that nutter charging us solo??
But I won’t be laughing for long!
This happens to me when there are more than 70-80 people in the same place.
It’s frustrating and hilarious!
I already agreed in other threads concerning this and I really hope to see some response from ArenaNet on this!
This is a serious issue and the wrong way to handle performance improvements.
This is one of 3 concerns that are really annoying within the game (especially in WvW) for me at the moment:
- Appearing/Disappearing characters on the screen
- Lags
- Activated skills that don’t trigger until I hit them 5-10 times (only in WvW so far)
I have a GTX 680 TOP with a factory OC of 1.2 .
I have a top notch OCZ Vertex 4.
I still have this issue. This has nothing to do with client side (at least to some extent).
It’s server side lag.
I’m really hoping ArenaNet will acknowledge this problem soon. It’s definitely a server-side optimization that’s causing this, and it needs to be reverted.
