Rangers got them some good lovin'!
Ranger:
Point Blank Shot: Increased the range from 600 to 900.
Because 900 range is like being in someones face ie.. point blank^^

that “point blank” shot is longer than the Guardian Flashing Blade (2) sword teleport range….if that’s “point-blank”…..then guardian’s much lauded gap closer that is apparently ‘great for chasing escaping’ is less than point blank range. would be hilarious if i didn’t play a Guardian….
Also notice the change to Hunter’s Shot and Remorseless.
If Remorseless hasn’t a ICD, then that’s quite a interesting thing, considering the rate of kills in a Zerg vs Zerg battles it could get refreshed extremely fast.
Ofc, it’s matter to see if it’s worthy to invest in the Opening Strike thing…
Also: retaliation on Whirling Defense, blast on Call of the Wild (rangers needed a Blast finisher HARD) and GS polish are very nice additions.
Most used: Guard/Mes/War/Nec/Ele.
Yes, i use 5 chars at time. Because REASONS.
Seems like we are vulnerability applying machines now. Perhaps I’m missing something but it never seemed like that good of a condition to me?
Rapid Fire – awesome!
Hunters Shot – cool, I’ll have to think about what I’m going to do with stealth
PBShot – nice
Maul – meh, guess it depends on how much vulnerability, I kinda liked seeing all those bleeds popping up
Counterattack – nice
Call of the Wild – aw, I don’t want to use a warhorn
Remorsless – no room for it

Rangers really needed this… The longbow was broken from day-1.
Unfortunately it still doesn’t make them any more useful in WvW large groups. As it stands, their only really reliable zerg benefits are the long-life water field, muddy terrain, and longbow #5. (maybe traps as well, but that’s debatable.) Other than that, they’re still ideally a small group or solo-fighting class.
I still can’t imagine rangers using this weapon. The power build available to rangers is just crap because the class as a whole lacks any real meaningful burst damage. The only way to get anything out of it is for zephyr and rapid shot. And even in a power build with 100% crit chance it’s no where near the damage other classes can do.
It’s a great buff, don’t get me wrong. But it’s not enough to make Rangers a truly dynamic class imo. Not until the class has real on demand burst options, AE options that aren’t on horrendous cooldowns, and can bring real utility to a group.
Second to last place is the home to the ranger as far as WvW is concerned.

the whole “opening strike thing” comes with the minor traits.. if you get remorseless, you got the “opening strike thing”…

Point is, will some vuln stack that you can’t predict when will get applied be worth it?
That’s the issue in the “opening strike thing”, not the acquisition.

I can see increased value in a ranger in a havoc or roaming team though rangers could always do that. It does have me excited about my ranger.

Really? 25% stealth uptime in a fight isn’t useful? I think you’re broken there buddy.

Stealth is worthless in a zerg fight once you engage. “Revealed.”
Not everything is a zerg fight. I have fun in both zerg and small man havoc.

Revealed is less than the cooldown on Hunter’s Shot, is it not? I’m missing the relevance, sorry.
Sigh. Even more professions with Stealth. Rangers will have less Stealth uptime than thieves but more than mesmers. Spreading out an annoying game mechanism sure is not welcome in WvW.

Ranger also can’t create clones on every dodge, teleport and spawn a clone or spawn clones and stealth, nor can they give massive AoE boon removal and conditions.

Which one of those you’d prefer instead of Stealth?

Don’t worry, the ranger is still using a longbow, so it won’t be too much trouble to just walk over and kill him after his stealth ends.

Isnt longbow the weapon used by those very, VERY, tanky spirit rangers that are hard to kill?
Regardless, Stealth is a very powerful mechanic and it really needs some ingame counters from players. No traps and 1min cooldown arrowcart skills ARE NOT A REASONABLE COUNTER.
Especially if its going to be even more and more common to see players slip into Stealth.

I am not worried about being able to kill rangers due Stealth. Those keyboard turning backpedalers are free kills with or without Stealth.
I am worried that I have to spend even more time fighting my user interface to reacquire correct target. Fighting UI is not fun.

Heh, going to post a build for you guys to try if you like Longbow
Try this build out in World vs World
I know what you’re thinking “Longbow and Conditions don’t mix”
If you pop sharpening stone before barraging people, anyone standing in the area eats 5 stacks of bleeds, not just one person, they all do, If anyone goes below 50% health, Keen Edges pop, and everyone will eat 5 more stacks of bleeds, Each hit from the 12 hits Barrage does, can proc Sharpened Edges and Sigil of Earth, which is 2 more stacks of bleeds.
On Average, if you stand in my Barrage, I’ll put 15 stacks of bleeds on you.
Rapid Also becomes a very good way of applying a lot of bleeds on people.
However, this is not a solo build, you will die horribly if you try and solo with this, it however is very nasty for groups and zerging.
If someone Turns and runs from you, Shortbow’s Rear attack can proc 3 Bleeds at once, and if you use Sharpening Stones before hand, 4 Bleeds….You can very quickly hit 25 stacks of bleeds on someone.

I am happy.. Longbow at long last has some serious usefulness… on the other hand.. I keep looking over my shoulder waiting for the other shoe to drop.

lets just say, i tested this stealth last night against a average skilled thief. His burst failed every time thanks to knockback and stealth…. i bet that poor soul has a bit less hair today.
