I’m happy as long as the green + ~15g a chest pays my WvW armor repair bill. I do wish armor repairs were completely removed like in sPvP.
This is way better than the rewards few months ago, without any ranking system or rewards for leveling. Personally, I have given up complaining about the difference in rewards in PVE and WvW. I understand why WvW can’t be more rewarding, it is because the amount you can do, or level, in tier 1 is very different to that in tier 8. The best part is, we have a chance (very very small) at a precursor. We are just addicted to RNG, so that is something to keep us interested for a while.

I don’t expect a free rare every day, or even a free rare at all. But I so far have yet to hear anyone get an exotic or an asceded, or even more than 1 rare per 5 or so chests (which is about the same drop rate for rares by spending 1 minute in the LA jumping puzzles).

So some of you hate the new chests because it doesn’t reward you enough to do WvW? I seriously can’t understand that logic. I do WvW to pvp and to fight enemies, to enjoy skirmishes and big battles, not to go kill for a reward and expect 100% to get a precursor which seems to be the case with a lot of you lot making these kinds of threads. I get the feeling you guys are the same guys who posted in forums from other MMO’s after you got PKED and your gear dropped, but when YOU got an item for a player it was great because you got rewarded. Some of you are just unbelievable.

My feeling is that a lot of PvE players don’t even try out WvW because they hear of the crappy rewards… the more/better the rewards, the more people we’ll have in WvW — which is great for the lower tiers.

It amazes me that you can’t see a problem with that. People will never be happy if they expect to be rewarded for every single dam thing. Next they will want to be rewarded just for logging in. You should want to WvW or PvP because its fun, and you want to play your character and how you build him to fight. Getting a guaranteed rare is going to make you want to now suddenly want do WvW? Trying to bait PVE players with rewards is just going to cause a situation where people are still going to complain, like this thread. Currently the PVE crowd, just goes to every chest event, complain about not getting good stuff and leave. They will just do the same now, log in get their chest for the day and leave. They are not going to improve WvW in anyway. They just want their rewards and have no interest in helping your server win.

8 chests= 2 green items not usable by that character, 3 blueprints I can’t use because seige is bugged for my world, and a handful of badges and silver. Actually my most profitable day of wvw so far. Once again, not complaining about free stuff, just being seemingly misled about not having to worry about fifty ectos apiece for ascended trinkets, as I’m currently rocking level 35 trinkets as I can’t afford better gear and seige. I still run dungeons every day to pay for wvw, and it isn’t that bad for me personally. Please don’t attack other people for being let down; it’s low even by trolling standards.

People are getting weirder and weirder everyday. 2 days ago we don’t have chest when we rank up. Then ANET gave us 1 or 2 chest per rank and people complain. Tell ANET to just remove the kittenin chests reward.

Whiners will always be a whiner. They will not be happy with anything. Poor souls.

Numbers are down notably, I`m seeing a lot of those who have hung on, waiting for some sort of reward for their efforts, giving up now.

We’ve hit a point where most of us are wondering why we bother and the stupid thing is that the WvW population was doing well….yet arenanet just don’t see what is holding their game together right now.

When WvW falls, GW2 falls with it and that is starting now.

WvW is fine. WvW players play for WvW, not for extra cash that they don’t need. The declining numbers line is something that’s been used from day 1 to give people something base a baseless complaint on and it hasn’t been true since. Tiers 1 and 2 are still megazerg fests and my recent three week stint on T5 showed little difference.

If you’re in it for the loot, WvW probably isn’t the place for you. I literally do nothing but WvW and I’ve got plenty of cash from it to pay for T6 consumables, upgrades, and repairs.

im actually really enjoying these chests so far 1st 2 i opened had some blue prints some badges 2 greens and a ascended ring. must be dumb luck tho cause i have not one piece of mf gear on

Spend a few hours in WvW grinding away WXP = Chance of a rare.
Check v2.gw2stuff.com, go to active boss, 5 minutes later = Guaranteed rare.

So I took a lvl 80 toon into wvw that hadn’t been there and got 3 chests on it. No greens, no siege prints…just 3 badges….evidently there is a wvw level requirement to get items.

If I win, you leave WvW and never play it again and only play PvE where you belong. If I win then I will never play WvW again. Rules are we play one class and have one round against each class. One point per round. Player with most points at the end wins. Sound good? Im up for it. Ill even transfer servers just to put you in your place if thats needed.

Yeah and probably the most expensive one I find is theory crafting builds. I have done so many and it costs alot to fully kit out 8x level 80s with various builds of full exotics/ascended.

To me the chest is more then enough.
You get tons of loot as is killing players and NPCs (Have read of folks getting precursors from killed players!) so the chests are just extra rewards on top of the skill points and the loot acquired from getting the experience for the chest.
So what if it’s not always rares… it’s still “something” which is a lot more then “nothing”.

Wouldn’t be surprised if people start complaining that they aren’t getting infused trinkets from harvesting omnomberries!

It’s a wonder the devs ever even come here. This place is downright toxic… We’re given something for free, and everyone cries about it. Not a rare or better? It’s still money in your pocket then!

Gone are the days when getting a single Stone of Jordan could take you a year or more (Diablo 2), or when becoming a jedi involved a massive galaxy-wide quest that could in the end take almost two years minimum (Star Wars Galaxies, pre-revamp).

They want this game to give 100% precursor drops or better yet just give all kinds of pre-cursor thru all our mails.

So weigh it up: a guaranteed rare + less than a silver; vs a chance at a rare + 20s (which is the cost of a rare) + some badges + a siege blueprint (worth from 6s to 1g). We’re getting a a hell of a lot more from these chests than from world events.

If the purpose of the chests was to induce more people to play WvW, I’d have to say the effort is a big fail. If you do the Frozen Maw event, you get at least one rare in the regular chest plus the guaranteed rare in the bonus chest for a minute or two of less than taxing gameplay. In contrast, gaining 5000 WXP is going to take at least a couple of hours of challenging play, assuming you’re not in a full-server zerg wiping uncontested maps during SEA time. (Who could I be talking about, HaHa!) For your effort you get a very mediocre chest with rares being the very seldom exception rather than the rule.

While getting any chest at all is nice, it’s not likely to induce a rush of new players to WvW. The time played/effort expended vs reward gained ratio is so lopsided in favor of PvE that I can’t see anyone deciding it’s worthwhile to start playing WvW if they aren’t doing so already.

As to those saying, “You shouldn’t complain, you’re getting something extra for doing what you like”, the problem is that the chests were promised to contain ectos in some form or another. But, unless there’s some secret way to convert badges and blueprints into ectos, that claim has been proven false. And when you promise something and fail to deliver on that promise, people tend to get upset.

I’ve opened 6 now and got 1 yellow & 5 greens. 1 blue print was a golem aswell.

Not a guaranteed 20s. In ten chests it’s ranged from 9-20 for me.

No, but there’s has to be some basis of comparison between the value of siege prints and gold. And since they have a listed price…

Well since we don’t have a drop rate it is quite pointless to speculate. But I would say it is high enough to increase the supply of ectos yeah.

In my case, 14 chests, 13 greens and 1 rare, and that rare didn’t give me ecto

WvW chests aren’t spectacular and the speed of ranking is too fast to get excited about them even as a chance to get something.

If they only dropped rares (and no piece of gear when it would be green) they would be infinitely more exciting. Other than that the drop rate is basically fine per chest, although I think they should be rarer. Maybe once per two levels. But seriously no coal please.

I also like how everyone overlooks the fact that you get A LOT more silver from these chests than you do from PvE chests. Also you have to go out of your way to get the PvE chests whereas you get these for just playing the game how you have always played it. Its literally 0 effort for more reward, UNLIKE PvE.

It’s better than nothing. I’ve gotten a couple of rares from them, golem blueprints (worth 1 gold) and a friend got an exotic worth 5 gold.

If the rewards were too good in WvW, it would turn into a PvE farm. Enjoying PvP should be the primary objective. I would encourage the developers to focus on improving the player vs player aspect of it as much as possible.

The rewards should be just enough to gear yourself with exotics and ascended, make up for repair costs and buy siege/upgrades. You’re not supposed to get rich playing WvW (although I can argue different after two precursor drops).

I don’t WvW for drops/chest’s/gold, that’s what care bear land is for. I WvW for the kills/battles, the meta game. The chests are fine and a nice added bonus. Sounds like pver’s complaining about not being able to farm gold in WvW.

I’d take up on the challenge. If you win, you made him waste x amount of gold (which he needed according to this original post) and make him stop wvwing (or he breaks his promise and keeps on playing wvw)
If he wins, you still made him waste that money, and in fact ignore the entire fact and just keep on wvwing ..
Either way, you can laugh at him wasting money … :P

I think the rewards scale with WvW rank. People new to WvW (or playing alts) are complaining that the chests have nothing good, while I’m hearing from higher-rank players (50+) that they are getting good drops.

I’ve opened 6 chests now, and gotten 1 rare and 5 greens (WvW rank 29, 30, 31 rewards) plus the usual badges, cash and blueprints. I expect that as I continue to rank up, the rewards will get better.
