I agree with the OP. Unfortunately this update turned WvW into a slow moving, stand around and look at each other, game mode.
I am disappointed because WvW was the most fun part of the game, and now it is not.

If its a well manned keep, you cant expect to ram it down right in front of them, of course you have to siege from afar.

My issue with people saying “just take out the AC’s” is that there are spots where you can place AC’s in keeps such that they can hit people attacking you gates with ease, but they have NO chance to be able to hit you back (i.e. AC’s behind gates firing into the gates can hit the AoE damage through it, etc), or the fact you can bug your camera to see it. So, as long as AC’s aren’t “blocked” by things that would be in the arrow’s actual flight path, there will always be places to put AC’s such that they cant be counter sieged. In that case, there’s nothign you can do except try to go to another gate, or use trebs.
So I feel like with this update there will be more cata’s and trebs being seen to take down walls instead of rams/golems on gates, since there are many places to put Arrow carts where they cannot be hit, or near impossible to hit, with counter siege. (What I’ve never gotten is how can the Arrow cart fire around a corner, from outside a keep, into a hallway o.O)

Darn, because of Arrow Carts they should just remove all siege, cause everyone knows that the new arrow cart makes them all worthless and then of course we should remove the keeps and towers because what is the point if we can’t get in them. So we should have just groups of zergs milling around. But of course we will have to remove all choke points or elevation because those darn arrow carts will destroy zergs. So everything should be flat. Yep the end result of Arrow Carts is going to be flat land with groups of people fighting each other.. hey maybe we can put each person on their own square and let them take turns moving from square to square.. man thanks to arrow carts I have come up with a new game……wait…what?

Golems should be removed from the game for different reasons.
Rams taking no damage from siege means arrow carts are useless again. 80 people can still drop 6 rams and blast a door down in record time by rotating in and out unless the arrow carts can also damage the ram.

I fully agree with this thread, Arenanet should remove Golems and Rams from the game seeing as they can’t last 30 seconds under a few arrow carts.
Remove Catapults and Ballistas as well, since their range is shorter than arrow carts and they are now redundant.

Somethings gotta give. Hills was bad enough before, now it’s impossible against anyone who knows how to countersiege. Either change the keep, nerf the arrowcarts, or buff the rams.

Currently the way to beat it is to put an arrow cart out of visible range (from the inside) and just shoot it into the lord room. With the extra range this counter is now possible.
Arrow carts not in the back can be aoe’d through the walls.
Unfortunately it requires arrow carts to counter arrow carts, but pre-patch with leg specialist applying immob I could lock down a hills lord room and make it impenetrable.

Yes but IF you place an arrow cart NOT DIRECTLY BEHIND A GATE but covered by the wall,you can still clearly see and target outside especially if u are a norn,and your AC cannot be targeted by dragon’s tooth unless a zoomhack(cuz unable to click it).Also arrow carts that could target the same areat can be 1st nuked down by the AC inside,even before they get built.
Any of those tactics existed from the game’s laung so i really don’t understand what was the problem with defending prepatch.

If you have time to do so. Its common for the defending team to stack up and rush open field trebs and catas. Chances are your siege won’t be up long enough to take down the wall. Plus if its reinforced.
If a tower has 4+ AC’s and you build a counter treb, if your able to kill 4 of the AC’s with that one treb you have just killed more of there supply then it cost you to kill it. (assuming everything is regular siege, not Superior)
At that point your forcing them to use more of there supply. If you run them dry, they can’t build AC’s. Then your rams and golems are in the clear to hit the gate.

Not really. If you place them too far away to the side you won’t be able to hit over the gate. Dragon’s Tooth doesn’t need you to target the Arrow Cart. Any player within the same area as it will do.

The solution here is to simply return the old damage done by the AC’s. That way all is good. ( part of aranet)
Creative siege placements – Anti AC trebs/cata/ACs. (part of player to actually think how to solve this).
Simply because every player wants to be OP in this game and wants to win; they wouldn’t want to have to work it out smartly.
Then again, because this is a fantasy game, reality be gone please.
This game because a good simulation of what a real war is. But that isn’t fun. It’s for the hardcore strategist now, not the casual player.
A good way to rebel against this is to simply ignore the game points and run as a very big zerg killing everything and anything till you fall into a tier that reflects the game you like.
Ignore the scores, just zerg each other’s spawn points.

So basically SoR just zerged up like usual but with golems instead of people. Scouted 5 minutes before the attack and they thought they should have just walked over and taken hills with no resistance. They knew we had that place sieged up because they were trying to take it for many hours and still tried to zerg Golems. Regardless of the AC change, that sounds like a fault in their tactics. They still wrecked the outer door in under 15 seconds.
They are supposed to golem rush when its undefended. Not when you know there is 40 enemies in there with a ton of siege.

To many golems = to less ppl scouting defending or protecting the golems. It’s a recipe for failure.
3-10 golems per run should be good in a full packed server. The rest – dedicated to build every available counter siege.

It really is a great demonstration of how the tactical solutions of zergballers begins and ends with “get a bigger zerg”.
Should also remove armor from the game. When I am solo and rush into 50 enemies and die instantly it’s pretty obvious that armor is worthless.

@Heijincks.9267 I was part of the group that BL hopped to help out hills. From what I heard, the only reason you didn’t take hills was because a string of bad portals dropped your golems in bad areas and they ended up having to run up half the stairs, getting rained on by AC’s.

Ah, Then I misunderstood as well! It was close, SoR had inner down to 50% before we were able to get there. If they would have had some clean portals right to the gate, they could have easily been on the lord or at least have inner down.
