Request : Lets build a Guide to WvW
I think that’s a good idea.
In fact I already started a thread with a few of the tips I thought a new player might like to know.
I did that just 2 days ago but it has already sunk to page 5 with no comment lol.
Anyway here are my tips

I could write a part for underleveled players, if you like.
The mob has spoken and the turrets shall be burnt at the stake.
I’d just like to point out that this would be an excellent thing to put on the Wiki, considering we’d be able to have a better collaborate effort.
That thief shooting rainbows at you? That’s me.
I have a premade somewhere written before a few updates. I’ll get it and adjust accordingly.
Here’s a serious guide to WvW.
- Always have supply when assaulting a tower.
- Server first, rewards for taking tower/keep/castle/camp 2nd.
- Communicate with your team if you’re a commander.
- If a zerg of 40+ takes a camp, tower, or keep, that’s roughly 1×40, 2×40, 7×40, or 10×40 in silver. Yes, if 40 people took SM, that’d produce 4 gold. Work as a group, and chip in on helping your server win.
- Defend your siege. It’s much more rewarding defending catapults instead of attacking the gate with your greatsword.
- Be aware of your surroundings at all times.
Hold what you take. Even a failed defense can buy time elsewhere for a larger push. A single cata behind a door can hold off a larger zerg until they set down catas of their own. Even better if they lay down 3-4 rams as they are most likely to drained of supplies to set up a larger ranged siege.
Supply camps, especially in EB are crucial. You have to keep supplies rolling to your conquests. When pushing through territory, leave a 10 man team behind to defend camps and upgrade them.
Now that local towers are full of supply make sure they get upgraded walls and a cata behind the door. Then a couple arrow carts and maybe a ballista if there is a good location for it. Upgrading merchants and workers are fast, inexpensive ways to increase the tower’s supply cap. A fully upgraded tower has enough supplies for 7 Alphas or 4 Omegas.
When placing siege, take note of where prime locations are that are either difficult or impossible to hit from the ground. Superior siege needs to fill this real estate asap.
Nothing but superior siege on inner in SM. Many people undervalue upgraded siege weapons, but on average they hit about twice as hard. 12k ballista bolts hitting 4-10 targets and arrow carts ticking for 900 damage will let you control a chokepoint no matter how many pour in.
Also when manning siege as a party, call target on downed players, focus fire until they wipe. They’ll be done for and you’ll probably get the people trying to res them. Make them pay for trying to res.
