SBI and JQ hated each others guts. But when JQ won 2 weeks ago there was nothing but respect from us (and the few HoD remaining). When we won last week there was nothing but compliments from both JQ and IoJ. Won’t happen this week and it’s a pity.
So don’t go saying “it always happens”.

I don’t know, SBI could be congratulating JQ (or visa versa) by the end of the week anyways. Last week the true test of the battle was the weekday warriors, not the weekend warriors. I did see what you meant, though.

So let me get it straight, someone from SBI went onto the Blackgate community forums (why?), took a thread and completely misinterpreted it. And now the server is evil hackers who use exploits at the drop of a hat, have no skill, basically the mad kings of GW2 wvw.

We will do our talking on the battlefield, using portals, stacking, and anything else we can think of to maximise the skillsets our classes have. All i have seen is people complaining that we are using tactics that mean you cant kill us like your used to doing.

What you dont get is that we spend a lot of time talking about the skills we have, how to use them together, different builds. If Anet makes changes then we will adapt to them and learn new tactics. You need to do the same.

I wasn’t on during the hacking stuff people are talking about so i wont comment on that. What I can say is that i’ve seen both SBI and JQ using the Portal Bomb “exploit” and I’ve seen BG use it too. It’s Anets problem for letting it happen, but everyone is doing it so any arguments with that are really weak.
I’ve seen an SBI char using the speed/teleport hack. Was on an thief who would run up, try and burst me down (so use all her Initiative) and if I wasn’t dead at the end she would blink away in hops 4-5 times in about 2 seconds. She was guildless if anyone from SBI is wondering so i dont hold it against you.
I’ve seen a guild from JQ attempt to exploit their way into the Longview tower. Was a pair of thieves trying to get inside while the rest of them (about 4-5) stood around keeping people on the ground away. 1 thief actually made it up, saw me and vanished right away. right after that the guild left. The other one kept trying to get up, almost made it too and i would have gotten the screenshot but the BG zerg showed up. It was a Asuran Thief from the [MMAC] Mixed Martial Arts and Crafts guild that actually made it then vanished before i could get the screenshot (didnt think he’d actually make it up >.<). Didnt take a Screenshot after because a group of people standing around near a wall isn’t incriminating lol.

My point is that every server has hackers but you cant blame an entire server for it. Will the hacking kill WvW? absolutely and I’m sure Anet knows and is trying to work on it (could use a bit more of a presence from them other then shutting down forums).
I’ve only been playing WvW since the last week of September/first week of October and i have never seen a BG player use a hack. dirty tricks, thief perma stealthing and portal bombing, yes but there is a 100% chance that someone on both SBI and JQ have done it too. do i blame the entire server? no because its one person doing it. i really doubt that any server plans out a hack. >.<

Surely the entire server isn’t hacking, but the majority seems to think that this doesn’t at all improve their chances of winning. It does so by reducing opposition moral and the obvious buffs from the orbs. That’s the last thing I’ll say about the matter.

They won’t listen so we should just stop replying. They better learn some butterfly effects.

I agree with you 100%, the “majority” I speak of is the general attitude on the BG forums and here (calling people names, downplaying the effect of hacking on this week’s event, etc.) For all I know that’s just the loudest bunch though. Lately it seems the conversation has become more refined.

I have never said the portal bomb wasn’t at least a little admirable, even if it is in need of some mechanic changes. I just wish this weekend’s fight wasn’t tainted by the other thing.

Well back to killing, still 4 days left.

Edit: In regards to organizing it’s return I am not sure who did it last time, it’s probably better if we discuss protocol for it as servers to avoid this kind of talk in the future. I suggest some kind of “if it’s hacked, bring it back” thing. Not sure of the pros and cons of that though. Always open for discussion. Plus it’s catchy and I could see some cool WW2 style PSA posters hanging around EB with the slogan on it. :P

You give us to much credit. We were only 15-20 people out having some fun in EB. And just to clarify we did´nt use mesmer portals “to get in your keep” we took it fair, using rams on the gate. If in doubt, view the video I posted above.

In the end you guys figured out to build arrow carts and take us down. Kudos to those who figured it out.

As far as I can tell, HB just have a lot of coordinated skill. They aren’t even the “40 man turtles” you are talking about. In fact, it seems like they only seem to run around with like 10-20 people, lol. It’s honestly like this has never been seen before, you realise even tier 7 servers have been doing this for 2 months? Hell, I know Titan Alliance had videos of them doing it during BWE o.O

I’ll tell you why JQ isnt doing as well as we should be, our absence of a night time crew. I havent seen any of our bigger oceanic/asian guild at all for the past two matches at all. We literally have no queue on any map after 11pm+ EST. During NA peek time today BG couldnt do anything against us, nor could they any other day. Even with that golem army two or so days ago it took 15 golems for them to get SM and I lead a group right back in not even an hour later and took it back.

If they like beating on empty keeps at 3/4AM then so be it(the only thing hod was good for), they’ll play how they’re going to regardless of what anyones going to say so more power to em. Same thing with the mesmer portals, quite frankly I dont see a problem with it at all, its a good tactic.

The only issue I have with it is when they just stand on top of it after its done and use faulty aoe mechanics to their advantage(you know very well what you’re doing, yes you’re exploiting it). The other real issue I have with BG is the same I had with SBI last week, this massive chest thumping like it REALLY means something to be in first place. I congratulate any server that can obtain it, but leave your crappy attitudes and egos for your own TS, dont bring that crap to the forums. Its something called respect, and its painfully obvious a TON of BG players/guilds have none of it just from this thread alone.

As for why theres a lack of presence from SBI? I have no idea, I always like matchups against them because they have generally good skilled players and its always fun to test your limits and learn to adapt different play styles.

How was this guy near every supposedly hacked orb to see 5 all 5 of them?

Oh and the assumption that Anet gave us an orb, because it is sitting bugged on an altar which nor we nor you touched?

You guys pull out new stories out of your sleeve every second.

BG has never admitted to hack those orbs as neither of us has seen it happen and from the lack of any screenshot other than mouth to mouth stories from SBI/JQ there isn’t any proof of those orbs being stolen by hacks and not bugs/quaggans or other game mechanics.

That is also the reason why BG says, we would report, but frankly enough this so called hacker is so good that he can do all of this without us seing it.
Did it ever occured to you that there might be more bugs to the orbs?
We had the altar break and the orb timer dissapear/reappear, full health altar explode and drop the orb yet the altar being whole and working etc.

BG isn’t to blame for bugs that occur with the game, Anet is, so go vent it on the right target and not on us.
We came here to fight with the top servers, not point fingers back and forth.

You people just too easily assume stuff is hacked, because it is convenient to link it to the the fact that you aren’t winning.

And it is much easier to point the finger at the newcomer, as hey it would be strange if the same 2 servers that met each other 5+ times suddenly would behave different, so it is the new guy.

We came to tier 1 expecting amazing 3 way fights with awesome tactics which can’t be pulled off in lower tiers.
We brought our A game tactics and organization to fight for this.

There isn’t any guild on BG that would tolerate hacking to win this matchup, as winning wasn’t the reason we striven to fight in tier 1, the awesome fights are.

What we got from our enemies though, was nothing new.
Just huge numbers, but by no means any new tactics or anything we haven’t seen lower tier servers do equally good or better.
We expected the fights to be hard, everywhere and between everyone.
Yet the opposing servers look for every excuse to blame for their loss.
Turtle tactic, being cheat.
Server hacking orbs on a hourly basis.
Bad sportsmanship and bladiebladieblah.

Guess what SBI and JQ
Look at what you’r doing yourself before you point fingers.

The only thing I dislike of what BG has been doing this matchup, is shouting how awesomesauce our server is.

BG is an awesome server to be on for W3, no matter which type playstyle you have, there’s a suitable guild(s) for everyone.
But no need to shout it in everyone’s face as frankly they will deny or just not care.

So thank you especially JQ for keeping the fights going on everywhere.
And SBI get over yourselves, you really becoming to look like bots running from spawn to our tower all day long never even bothering to look in the other direction.

Just an additional note, all the people talking/representing servers on here including me, probably don’t even represent 10% of W3 population.
So stop thinking that you know exactly what and why people think, as frankly enough the majority of W3 players probably doesn’t even read or care about this forum(section) and will just keep on fighting when there are fights to be fought.

And especially not about all this crying about bugs/exploits and other excuses for stuff that doesn’t go according to your imagination.

At least in BG we dont descriminize, we steam role all servers equaly

this was a screenie took last friday us being all excited and looking forward to our upcoming match with you guys while the rest are @ the Heart of the Mists waiting for the reset, since it’s past 5 pm that time and it still hasnt ended… we never expected to steamroll BG or any other server EVER. As it is seen, im supposed to be on SI bl then ANET kicked everyone because of patch… I ended up being on BG bl and had to witness the orb flying over our keep going outside when it go out not even 3 secs it appeared on BG Garisson after we worked our a**es off getting it… the atmosphere after the shenanigan happened on our side was in sort of major shock… 3/4 of our population left right away… if that wasnt bad enough it happened again after logging back on when i woke up… i mean really not even 24 hrs yet and happened twice alrdy ):

Thanks everyone who was at the BG garrison last night (EU time, afternoon eastcoast time I think). That was the sickest fights I have had in weeks. JQ coming in from the east and SBI from the north, both hitting the lord room within minutes of eachother. Good try on the turtling, it was fun to see it used against us for a change.

A run down of how the EB fighting has been done all week.

People come on. Every single server involved in this fight has one or two (maybe more like 10) players that make excuses and point fingers. IF there is hacking, report it in game and it will get dealt with.

Personally, I have yet to see anything close to hacking.

And as far as Blackgate being double teamed, you can’t be serious? The reason you’re getting ‘double teamed’ is because both servers had to take SOMETHING back from BG. The whole of all 4 maps was RED for crying out loud. Trust me, we had scouts watching SBI and were ready to go if they attacked. But we were pushing north (because, uh, there’s nothing south of our spawn site).

Could we have pushed east against SBI? NO! You (BG) would crush us in short order if we didn’t push you. SBI didn’t tangle with us for the same reason. When they attacked us, you’d sweep in behind and grab everything from them.

You made serious enemies on both fronts and now some of you cry 2 v 1? SBI and JQ have taken a serious beating from YOU BG and we want revenge on YOU. Nothing else will satisfy. You brought this on with your superior tactics and numbers and coverage etc etc etc. You want to be top dog? That’s what it’s all about.

Let’s be real here. Anyone who matters on Blackgate understands why it is effectively a 2v1. Granted, it will always be a 2v1 when you take over the whole map, since the only server that has stuff to take would be BG so, yes, it would be a 2v1 in that instance. Last night in Eternal Battlegrounds (Pacific time), it was a constant 2v1 for the entire 7 hours that I was playing and we didn’t even hold our entire corner. I am not complaining about this. I wrote a guru thread on why the 2nd and 3rd place teams should 2v1 #1. Good on you for bringing the fight to us and for someone finally understanding how this game works. You press #1 until they aren’t #1 any more or they are wiped off the map.

Regarding who was in the lead, Blackgate has had the lead the entire match. By 12 hours in, we had generated a 5k point lead, a lead that we have never lost. Leading up to the point of separation, when NA prime time ended, it was essentially a dead heat. Afterwards, BG poured it on. The truth of the matter is that no one is losing because you got an orb hacked. We ALL report the individuals responsible. We have publicly put there name in forums so as to expose them. No one on our server tolerates that these individuals are performing these acts. Until ANet physically patches the ability to do these things, there is no way to stop them other than reporting. Blackgate is not a server of hackers, we are outplaying you at the moment, plain and simple. This is Tier 1 not Tear 1. Get off your forum-warring kittens and get on the field.

Regarding anyone who is knocking Blackgate for our tactics (turtling/portaling), sorry we aren’t sorry. If you are getting beat by legitimate tactics, it is not our problem. It is also not our responsibility to tell you how to beat them; that is your prerogative. Portals are legitimate, period. For the most part, culling has been fixed and is a non issue. Are you really going to complain that you got your kittens kicked because our army was just so kittening mobile? Please. To me, that statement makes it very obvious that you were straight up outplayed. Mesmers portaling into your keep? Also legitimate. If you didn’t clear them out when you took it, that is your fault, plain and simple. Turtles take advantage of an obvious game mechanic that AoE attacks have a target limit and AoE support abilities do not. If Anet wants to change that, they are more than welcome, but since you are all so focused on turtles, which are beatable, think of the ramifications of AoE not having a target limit. Any class with lots of AoE, Elementalists and Engineers, would immediately become overpowered. The original intent for AoE limitations was so that when you are attacking a door, you can’t put down 2 AoEs and immediately kill a group of 20. AoE was never a problem until players actually learned how to turtle and you decided to complain about it because someone broke the meta and your tactics no longer work so well. Get the kitten out of here if you are going to hate on our tactics for being too effective because that is sort of the point. What makes me sick is what utter wimps are showing themselves here on these forums. You cry and you cry about mechanics that are in the game because they beat you. In WvW, there are always 2 losers. Blackgate has done its fair share of losing, now it’s your turn. We are going to keep portaling and we are going to keep turtling. Try and stop us. I will see you on the field if you get a pair of kittens and show up.

I haven’t seen a darn thing wrong with anything this week. And the week isn’t over.

When an Orb in a fully fortified Bay magically gets up and flies across the map to BlackGate… yeah, something’s wrong. But we fight on regardless.

Realistically, you don’t fight on if you see the orb flying overhead. Not if 3/4 of your people apparently log off. Orbs don’t give you points, territories do. Blackgate accrued more points and that is why we are winning, not because of an orb.

Once again, not a single person here argues that hacking is right or a good thing. If I am wrong, please show it to me.

Wow, just wow. I read through this whole thread and talk about a witch hunt. There have been some serious accusations of cheating here and unless I missed it, the only evidence presented is one guy claiming he saw his server’s orbs hacked 5 times but somehow never managed to get a screenshot of it despite miraculously being there all 5 times. Call me a skeptic but that just doesn’t add up.

For the record, I am one of the guild leaders in the Blackgate alliance. My guild is small and we are not an all-WvW-all-the-time guild but we do our fair share of it. I have never heard of someone from our server stealing an orb by using a hack. Now I’m not saying it’s never happened but I’ve never heard of it nor have I heard anyone calling someone out for it in map chat or on our forum.

To add to what Snow Aeth said above about quirky things happening in WvW with orbs, I will cite a personal example. When we were playing Ft. Aspenwood a couple weeks ago, they got our orb from the northern altar twice and we rolled them twice while they were running it back. The first time, nobody could find the orb and it reset. The second time however, I saw the orb on the ground and ran over and started spamming my F key and sure enough, I picked it up. FA still had people up fighting so I just did the smash and grab and took off running north as the rest of our people mopped up. It was over in a couple seconds and people on Mumble started griping about the orb resetting again. In other words, they couldn’t see me with it on the map. I announced that I had it and started running back south. The orb never did show up until we placed it at Garrison.

Now I don’t know how to hack nor any interest in knowing any hacks. I certainly wasn’t using any hacks that evening but yet something screwy happened. Had some of these witch hunters in this thread been witness to that, I’m sure they would have been on here accusing the whole server of hacking and they would be 100% wrong (I know, since when does that matter on the internet?)

The point here is that not every quirky thing you see happen is a hack and you shouldn’t just yell hack at the drop of hat. If you see something you think is a hack, especially if you see it 5 times like the one guy from SBI claims, you should probably present some sort of evidence other than just point an accusatory finger.

I have been on Blackgate since day 1 and my guild is proud to be one of the first few to join the Blackgate War Council. I have watched this server transform from a bunch of disorganized rabble with a lot of heart to a highly coordinated team. In other words, we don’t need hacks to hold our own against any server or servers. We have gotten our act together and we have solid leadership and we have always had a whole lot of ‘want to’. I’m a little dismayed that some enemy guilds have allegedly decided to mail it in this week over nothing but rumor and innuendo. All I can say is I’m glad I haven’t had the displeasure of seeing that on Blackgate. I would say this to those pointing fingers: put up or shut up. Until I see a screenshot or video to support your claims, you’re just reminding me of a story I’ve heard about a fox and some grapes…

About orbs: if the player carrying it dies (drops it) the orb icon no longer shows on the map. This is the way it has functioned for a long time.

If the 2nd carrier dies the orb generally despawns and resets to the top of the map at the end of the 15min timer. Not sure if this occurs every time, but it is common.

edit: also, these threads get shut down asap when you discuss stuff like the errant ghosts stealing orbs.

Something should be said about blackgate being allowed to keep a bugged orb for more than 24 hours now. In a tier where every stat matters, this is making a huge impact on the current and future score.

Despite the fact that all 3 servers seemed to field only a few handfuls of players in EB last night (right before EU primetime), I’d like to congratulate JQ on leading us in circles for the better part of an hour capping and recapping bases, and pushing us back. It was fun and netted me quite a bit of karma and silver.

I can’t wait to see how these 3 servers fare against each other when the holiday events are over.

Pink Monkeys [DEVS] now on Blackgate….drivin’ the pain train all afternoon.

SBI and JQ were doing 1vs2 but it was not working because Blackgate can handle 1vs2 and now they are fight each other so they dont drop tier 2, such a funny week.
Haters gonna hate…

If it was 2vs1, BG would have 10 points, stop being so paranoid.

To any and all JQ/BG who fought in the jumping puzzle last night…. my hats off to you. Shining Force put up some of its best and we had a ton of great encounters with you guys. Ultimately we won, but the point is that the fights were challenging!

I also noticed that SBI just moved up into 2nd place by a thousand (before I logged off). Seems SBI has a knack for moving up against JQ in the closing moments of the week.

Great fights tonight as well on borderlands. JQ Borderlands saw some pretty epic encounters between Blackgate and SBI near redlake. Tons of fun fighting their too.

Scree you must be that guardian commander then =P

KHAN had a lot of fun stomping heads and getting stomped in the EB jp, even with those kitten mesmers and their focus pull. Lets just say you were lucky that stonemist needed our help =D

Latest score update, let’s try to keep this thread alive

If you were paying attention last week things may start looking a little different around here soon.

Not sure how much this will help, but if devs need a timestamp, it was 12:55am Oct 27 PST (pacific standard time). Was in the SW keep and chat blew up with orb on the move and how is it moving when east keep had no breach and we had commanders in the area. Looked up my map and took that shot, but the time I went out to type then back to map it was in the garrison. Would say 5-10sec flight time and did see it fly fast while map was up.

To people doubting, how many times has an orb been taken with multiple commanders in the area and the chase not even being close. There was activity going on close to the keep’s north west gate and got away no problem. Sure those people in the area can add to it, was said there was no breach they were close to the keep and recently walls and gates were checked.

Yet another orb magically flying to BlackGate. I think it’s time to disable orbs until the hacks can be taken care of.
