I don’t want to start yet another thread about the state of WvW in general. Plenty of these already and we all know that it’s nowhere near what it used to be.

Server links have failed to change anything for lower tier servers as many players just bandwagon from one guest to the next if their link isn’t good.

So with that in mind it seems that the best option if you’re in a bottom tier or on a dead guest server is to transfer to one of the few remaining host servers that don’t rely on linkups for survival.

I was wondering how these servers are currently doing (regardless of currently full or opened) and what would be a good transfer option. How many guilds and commanders (both fight oriented ones are more defence ppt ones), what the coverage is like, the community in general, scouts and roamers, etc.

Would it be possible to get some fair feedback from players on these servers?

No, I very much doubt it since you’ll probably either get my server sucks and everyone on it is an idiot or the enemy servers suck because we’re awesome and everyone else are idiots as replies.

Isn’t it still common practice for pretty much every server in EU (except maybe SFR) to say “oh no, you don’t want us, we’re terrible, here! take a look at those other servers!”

I’m not sure what this should achieve. Links were supposed to help balance the population. I agree that they didn’t solve the problem but they are also not the cause of population imbalance.

I was asking for feedback from host servers (Desolation, Far Shiverpeaks, Gandara & Piken Square mostly).

Transferring to a guest server makes no sense for me as you could have fun in T1 for 2 months and then be linked with T5 and lose every MU/be outnumbered for the next 2. There’s a reason pretty much every single guild/commander transfers away once they’re linked with Aurora Glade.

While I can understand off hour guilds needing to xfer a lot, A prime time guild on a guest server shouldn’t need to xfer.

You benefit from having a changing player pool to recruit from, if tiers get locked you atleast have a chance to move on, and its cheap to xfer people to join your guild.

Too many people lack any patience to wait out a bad linking

Well tbf there isnt much fight commanders left in any server, also the fighting guilds that are remaining are mostly just GvGing so it really shouldnt matter that much which one you join. Anyways opinions from someone who has been on all servers and is currently on Deso/piken:
- Gandara, strong sometimes but sucks most of the day when Shmead/Liberius are not tagged up cuz everyone plays mesmer/ranger then, not worth it to be honestly unless you want “nice” people but no content. Has some of the stronger GvG guilds and has dead primetime most of the time due to lack of active commanders around that time

- Desolation, weak but rather active around the clock. Has really no hardcore players/commanders left. Has some semicasual guilds like LOOK and sF that can be fun to follow/join but the server wont win any superblobs due to all “GvG players” transferring away due to massive PvE population. Good for casual pugging against casual groups I guess. Has organised 12-hour commanderswap weekend raids saturday/sunday so lot to do there then.

- Piken Square, has some good players and some semicasual guilds like ONYX/IM, however in t1 with Far shiverpeaks so little inactive now (because everyone knows 80% of piken dont log in when losing). However very nice/welcoming core server community.

- Far shiverpeaks, the server with queues, Long queues, normally commander running from like 10 am till 10 pm GMT so at least something to do then, always big blobs, no commanders that run with smaller groups. You would be most of the time bored on this server unless you like easy wins/sitting in queue 90% of the time.

Linking did just fine for an emergency fix. The low interest state of wvw is because there have not been any major updates, and short of that nothing will change.

Thanks for the response, that’s exactly the kind of information I was looking for!

I mainly had my sights on Gandara, pity about the shortage of commanders because it seems they have the population. Deso & Piken seem like they could be good too. However queues and blobs on FSP don’t seem very appealing.

deso – ppt wise isnt so good but we try.
com wise – we do have some at prime. a few on morning and night.

we rarely have numbers now but we do get good fights.

sf look aim kiss dc salt and others make the bl fights fun.

pretty nice community.

you can ask the servers who fought us for more info. but dang how full we are i do not understand

kill wise. we have the best k/d in all eu.

3rd only on most kills. 1st being jade sea. followed by gandara with 41k and 40k respectively
