I enjoy all aspects of this game. Yes, I know it has it’s problems but I am an optimist. One concern I have is the Anti-PvE hate-mongering from WvW’ers. I understand there are “formulaic” builds and strategies for WvW but that doesn’t lessen the value of PvE for those who enjoy it. I am tired of hearing such degrading sayings as “PvE sucks, so do those who play it”, “PvE’ers have no skill”, etc…. I have found most PvE’ers to enjoy the game where most WvW’ers tend to be angry or frustrated and lash out at those that enjoy a game. The most important word in the previous sentence is “game”. Stop harassing the PvE’ers cause the report button does include verbal harassment and it will get used often.
My 2 cents…….
I love PVE’rs! it brings me such joy to see a 9k churning earth in eotm which would normally be 5k on a borderland
Here’s the question, are they referring to dungeons and fractals PvE, or actual open-field PvE? Dungeon and fractals PvE is a different beast from open-world PvE, which is way too easy for its own good.
WvWers (PVPers) don’t hate PVEers.
PVPers hate PVE in their PVP game mode.
Note: Zerker PVEer’s, aka rallybots can be annoying, but that is more an issue of training and understanding the game mode than an actual hate.
Discrimination is bad. That’s why I hate everyone.
I dislike most PvErs for plenty of reasons. Such as:
- Some think they are the kitten. Have legends, ascendeds, and try and order WvW vets
- Their game is x10 more simple, and x10 more rewarding.
- some rarely get on teamspeak/voice comms because they dont really care, being a rallybot and messing up a potential good fight
- Fairweather on you whenever. Lol you wipe? Kpeace let me afk at spawn
- Disobedient. They rather squirel chase roamers, cap a sentry, push in to lords room than follow you/help you
- They prefer karma training over actual WvW
List can go on. This is why I hate PvErs

So you are saying you are superior because you can look up builds and press 1. I do WvW and PvE (dungeons as well as open world) and find the skill level of WvW’ers is no different than PvE only players. Your generalized statements show your ignorance. It’s a game. It’s supposed to be fun. If you have this much rage, seek help.
1. Legendaries and ascended don’t make the player, skill does. WvW vets can suck also. Just because you play often, doesn’t make you good.
2. I would love to see how you get these numbers
3. I know as many PvE’ers that get on ts as WvW’ers
4. Stop putting Achievement Points for WvW so PvE’ers don’t have a reason to go there
5. I have seen where those PvE’ers have distracted the other team long enough to remove siege before going to Lord
6. I know several commanders that karma train……
MOST IMPORTANTLY, don’t tell me how to play a game I paid for!
Can’t we all just get along for once…
Dont get me wrong, sure there are people who help and are the exceptions, its those specific ones that do the things i listed that I highly dislike
Holy kitten, are we really talking about pve in gw2? it’s just ridiculous with all this content skipping and bugging you can do… I don’t know why you talk back on point 2? It’s crystal clear that you get far more rewards for pve than wvw, even Anet says that. Just look at all this pve kitten I have to farm in order to get a legendary.
You can play the way you like, but you have to accept that people will laugh about your builds and equipment and there is a reason for that. If I would start to join random pve groups with a bunker ele, they would call me out too and they would be right to do that.

I think you are the one that is ignorant, just read the first sentence I quoted. Also, you are on a low tier server with very little hardcore wvw players… of course there won’t be a difference in skill level between wvw’ers and pve players.
I find in the few games that I have played where PvP is linked to PvE (gear/abilities/specs), that both playstyles provide opportunities (synergistically) for me to further finesse my skills.
Or maybe that’s just because I’m constantly trying to finesse them anyway.
All things can be a learning opportunity if viewed that way.
Including this thread.
I’m learning that “elistism” is unfortunately alive and well in GW2’s WvW as well as PvE. Not a surprise. Some of it might actually be warranted, although I highly doubt it.
I’m sure it’s fantastic that some WvW players never had to go through a learning curve to be as good as they believe they are.
As my old Tribes clan leader said over 14 years ago (we were #2 worldwide): “I’ll take an honorable newbie (who wants to learn) anyday…”
- “Elite” (not elitist) Fractal player, Explorable player, WvW player

There’s no hate for PvEers. Just mild annoyance when they’re not willing to join Teamspeak and follow directions. The PvE crowd is where WvW draws its population from. No hate <3

I play both game modes and reading this make me sad. You sound exactly like some in my server which is why i like the new map better the community there is much better.
In this map the only discrimination i got was from enemies.
Elitism seems unavoidable even in PVE. It’s true that the greater reward is from PVE, even from the recently released EoTM compared to wvw. Many players I suspect play for the reward (loot, WXP), for the epic fights or to play alongside their Server Community, Guild and Friends.
As least for me I was once a PVE’er who hardly knew much about wvw when I jumped in, now I’m a pretty dedicated wvwer and I feel like a part of my community, which I decided to stick with.
Those who don’t listen and turn who many proclaim as ‘Rallybots’ can be quite frustrating, but I’d like to think most dedicated wvwers, especially commanders are able to keep calm and carry on.

I have absolutely no hate vs PvEers. In fact, since the EoTM update they’ve been a most generous source of income for me.
What i do dislike is PvE events like toxic towers and power nodes or whatever, that kill yaks in the borderlands.
There cannot be PvP where PvE is. Period. Everyone claiming the opposite is complete fool. Many players got hyped for GW2 because it was stated numerous times that PvP =! PvE.

This is the right answer! Never before has anyone stood still while i whacked them into the mists with my hammer.
People who think PVE in the game is easy have never been tried to solo the karka events in Southsun Cove, or tried to retake some of the temples in Orr. That being said, while I prefer playing WvW lately, I think looking down on others for the content they enjoy is just silliness. That’s why the different modes exist…for people to play them.
then pveers should stop hating wvwers. we work very hard even on losing situations for less rewards,
Nothing against PvE players, easiest loot bags in the game….
Would be fun to open up Queensdale and other PvE maps to the PvP side though, would love to see the reactions of people who PvE only getting farmed by the WvW play…. Oh yea, EotM!!!!!!
The problem is forcing players into areas they don’t like.
PvE players have to go to WvW if they want legendaries or the achievements. WvW players have to farm champions if they want to gear their toon.
Having to do stuff you don’t enjoy is terribly frustrating. The newbie next to you becomes your scapegoat. If he screws up you troll him.
I’m not excusing bad behaviour but it’s obvious where the problem lies.
Can’t do it, nothing you say can make me not hate PvE. Now the players, I have nothing against them.
But is true that pve sucks :/
Agreed, it’s really weird. I play 90% WvW, 5% PvE, and 5% Trading Post. The best players I know spend the majority/all of their time in PvE and the worst players (cheesy D/P thieves) I’ve come across are found in WvW.
The negativity going both ways has killed many guilds and servers, I’ve seen it firsthand.
I love pve’ers. They chase me whenever they see me fighting someone, which just earns me more lootbags.
PvE in Gw2 is a joke.. Gotta love the bags the PvErs feed us though. So squishy I love it.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, don’t tell me how to play a game I paid for!
OP gives best reply to himself.

Maybe that’s why some players hate them.
Running in zerker gear with some magic dps build and +power food makes you a victim in WvW, most of the times.
Going solo and dying every 2 minutes may generate frustration for both sides, a big “gtfo” is imminent. I don’t hate PvE, it’s one of the best I’ve seen in an MMO.
WvW is not here to cater PvE players, it’s a different “game”. The sooner you adapt, the better.
If you’re one of those “I paid for this game I play however I want”, go play solo and stop whining like a little kid.
IDC what game mode you enjoy, to me you are all bad.
Lemme see…a brief explanation of my daily WWW routine (tier1):
I log on my server, i see there are commanders….
First thing i read is to log on TS…
I log and get into the zerg at that point commander tells me
-wich build to use
-when to evade
-where to position
-when to CC
-when to dps and where
-when to build
-when to combo field/blast
._.
After some time i look if i can leave the zerg to roam a little….
And this is where i find:
-3 profession that can t be killed at all unless they want to
-zerg players trying to get up with their commander totally unable to defend themselves due to their build
- few good players but the chances of an even fight are almost non existent due to different numbers.
Said that, can you please explain where (except for commanders) would be the superior skill of a common WWW player?
I still enjoy WWW, but to me is as “challenging” as the marionette or tequatl.
In both pve and wvw there are certain skills that is required, i mean honestly just because something is controlled by a AI does not mean its simple to kill. A actual team effort is also needed as well as a decent amount of knowledge of the game.
Same goes for wvw there are a heck of a load of people that do*WVW* all day but in the end still just sits in the karma trains mindlessly pvd’ing. And while this mindless state goes on there are others researching, developing tactics and builds to better themselves in this aspect of the game.
I’m mostly doing wvw because i love it but that does not mean i cant take a break to enjoy becoming a pve’er for a day so that i have a different challenge for a change.
@OP:
I personally have no problem with PvE. I just don’t think there should be PvE elements in WvW.

You, sir, can’t be kittening serious. Ever roamed? Guess not. I roamed in WvW since week 1. I do not press 1… I use each skill, target off and on, time my skills and heals, and dodge in between. If you really think PvE is even 1/10th of PvP difficulty… you are stupid.
Remember… in PvE you are fighting brainless PC simulations… in PvP you are fighting players and they can do anything at all at any time at all. Try it, you’ll be amazed.
I’m not speaking for the karma trains, because they’re morons. They’re probably on the same level as the Queensdale champ trains… IQ 70?
