With the expansion many tanky and innecessary stuff got into the game, specially the runes of durability and tanky foods like the 10% dmg reduction one, that combined with tons of toughness and vitality, as well as perma stability builds anet brought to the game (revenants, scrappers), and not forgetting the possibility of stacking perma protection with boon duration foods (that is part of the 10% dmg reduction food) /runes (again durability) or gear stats on that already tanky classes (revenants and scrappers), makes WvW full of AIDS.
First question: were all this new tanky stuff needed in the game? You nerfed runes of defender, because they were too broken, so why do anet brings even tankier runes than defender, that not just offers toughness, but also protection proc, regeneration, resistance as well as boon duration? Wasnt too obvious every class, excepts maybe thief and offensive guardian, would exploit them? You nerfed runes of strength too, because they had too much might stacking and burst potential, but I still didnt see a decent nerf on this runes. It is not just the fact you didnt nerf them, but you made they can easily be adquired in WvW… Come on, you first delete them from structured PvP and now you gave us them “for free” in WvW?
The fact anet doesnt care about WvW balance was obvious, but with all this tanky and INNECESSARY stuff they brought, that absolutely destroys the builds diversity, same as these tons of perma stealth condi trapper thieves that you cant even see because the traps dont reveal them, and many other aids builds, just makes WvW a game mode focused on zergling that doesnt let roamers any chance to have fun, because 70% of the builds you find are full power tank or full condi aids, like full tank scrappers with runes of durability and tanky foods with bulwark gyros, perma protection and perma stability, at the same time they stack perma 25 might stacks, regen, fury, retaliation… Or the same with revenant, and not talking about perma heals and tank druids.
When I watch old videos about WvW roaming, like 2013-2014, I feel nostalgic, because almost every build had a chance to beat each other (except few exceptions) and the roaming and dueling were really fun (also there were much more people roaming) but every patch hurt the balance a bit more, at the same time they added more condis and boons stacking, turning the game balance into what it is now.
In 2013-2014 my medi guard didnt have stability with any skill, not even with f3, but it was fine because I didnt need it, blocks were enough. Look now, chrono with perma stability on shatter, necro with perma stab on DS, scrapper and revenant with perma stab on dodge… Please, even thieves got blocks and guardian got traps.
