Welcome to the Big ‘Ol WvWvW Wishlist. A stacking list of items that WvW players want for their gameplay enjoyment. Note that some of these may clash with each other, and that they are polar request that will split between those that don’t want and those that do. However, the list will continue…

1) Removal of the AoE cap

2) Some sort of limitation to Mesmer portals (working for party members only?)

3) Golems ability to attack keep walls.

4) Nerf X Class (this applies to all…so just fill the X with the class you hate the most).

6) No more [orange] sword flags

7) Buff to supply camp guards (+2 levels isn’t a worth upgrade, but making one or two of the guards champions would be much more rewarding and detrimental to rush tactics).

8) Faster Yaks

9) Slower Yaks (really? okay…)

10) A reward chest at Keep/Garrison/Stonemist lord kills.

12) Direction + altitude based ballista (instead of target based)

13) Per map based bonuses for objectives owned (monetary/gold find only)

14) Another jumping puzzle like EB’s.

15) Spike trap upgrades for objective doors.

36) Line-of-Sight fix for battlement edges (players have to stand on the literal edge of a wall to get a clean shot at the enemies below, even with seeing them clearly prior to taking that suicidal position)

37) Players supply objectives. (giving players the ability to drop off the supply they carry at a keep/tower so as to supply it like a yak currently does)

38) Extended, longer Yak paths (basically allow a Yak to go full circle instead of between two tiny nearby points so as to supply multiple locations)

39) Allow for repair of siege out of combat.

40) Everlasting-siege (until the siege is physically destroyed, it wouldn’t have a timer)

41) Extend the curvature of the siege (catapults on the ground are able to fling over a wall).

42) Remove road sentries

43) Yak escorts need more power (make the two guards have more damage or more CC style knockdowns, knockbacks, and stuns to defend the Yak better)

44) Increase drop rate for Badge of Honor (make it more rewarding considering that neither Karma nor XP gives currency towards WvW gear as BoH’s do).

45) Increased Support Rewards (for trebuchets, Yak escorting, healing/booning allies)

46) Player spotting options. (i.e. if you see a player and press “r”, it would beckon that player to allies for 5sec, or continuous if in combat).

47) Individual and Guild WvWvW Ranks

48) Harder to traverse terrain (something like forest, maze-like canyons, and such making for guerrilla warfare)

49) Change Treb manning requirements to 2 or more people ( because loading and firing is more than a one man job).

50) New WvW maps.

51) Make BoH a system currency instead of physical item (to help reduce bag clutter with stacking limits of 250, and also to not lose out on bags lost)

52) Additional stat-blend sets for WvWvW (adding more choice for players to buy with their BoH besides Power/Toughness/Vit gear).

53) Bug Fix: Right-Click chat box invite (the only option showing now is “report” when trying to right-click someone’s name in chat)

Good idea but not only party memebers id say a .2 second cooldown to use the portal not 40 people popping up at the same time

No nerfing until they fix culling imo

The thief is not that overpowered without the culling problem

Not good idea how are you supposed to know if theres x amount of players hitting your base

Yeah it needs some buff but it really stands no chance against a big zerg no matter what

I’d say they are fast enough you can buff it with permaswiftness if you got a party togeth

If this is the case make the yaks carry more supply and tougher to kill

I’d say ballista is fine it’s not overpowered because theres only certain spots you can put it for the angle to be very effective and those spots can be aoed except for the tower clifftop/cragtop/dawns I hate when they put ballista on hill

Sure why not bring more people to wvw(PvErs)

14) Another jumping puzzle like EB’s.
why? do we really need less people on the battlefield

I don’t see how these would stop people unless they are really that strong

culling is the problem not the thief

Meh waste of time to devote devs to do this they need to prioritize better things tbh like problems first rather than adding new things(FoTM)

this is even worst than portal
This is portal without any range you could move armies with it easy even if it was so expensive

jumping puzle allows you free seige
seige is crucial to getting objectives you need a way to prevent people from getting plus its more fun and risky

Responses just for fun.

1) Conflicted about this. It would certainly make choke points (like halls) even more dangerous.

2) Portals are fine. Fix exploitable wall glitches instead, please.

3) Maybe. If they’re more versatile their supply cost to create might increase though.

4) See #30.

6) No, orange flags are essential to prevent the map from becoming continuous small groups of four capping random targets all day long. That would be made even more annoying than it already is if defenders didn’t have at least some indication of where to go other than staffing every base with a watcher (watching can be BORING).

7) Or make them less stupid. It’s very easy to pull one and then reset the entire group.

10) Be careful with this and here’s why. If a reward chest of any worth is available at Stomemist that will actually work as a counter incentive for some players uninterested in WvWvW points. They will not want to defend the castle, as if it’s taken it will allow them to refarm the chest. Even if the chest is lootable only once a day it will encourage people to want the keep to fall if it’s theirs when they log on. Granted the chest could either be full of worthless crap or made equivalent to the jumping puzzle chest, and this would likely be fine, but come on—free siege plans notwithstanding those chest kind of suck.

12) This would make them similar to arrow carts, which you should build instead for AoE. Also the stupid thing about balistas is their knockback. Ever hit a target from behind with one? It makes them fly backwards toward you, because the knockback isn’t in relation to the two of you but the direction they’re facing. This can lead to hilarious kills in places with cliffs like the northern EB keep, and wouldn’t work if the balista was AoE positional.

13) Would be nice, but might discourage people from playing if they log on and find their server without many objectives (why bother if the bonus is weak etc).

14) Yes, that would be fun! <3 the torch part.

15) So long as they can be effectively destroyed/disarmed.

16) YES. Please. This is an obvious unintended bug.

23) No. This would be way too big an advantage for seige and defenders, especially as it couldn’t be made contested like standard waypoints. Just no.

25) The lord is just there to stop the keep from being taken by one or two people. They’re not really meant to be a huge defensive obstacle for an organized group, or even a party of five.

26) Sure, why not?

27) That’s fine, too.

28) The PvP in there is what adds to the tension. Also you get a warm feeling if you manage to do it alongside members of other servers without anyone bothering to fight (rare occurance).

29) There’s enough PvP in there as is. Also ranger knockback FTL.

30) Buff for balance if hopefully the best solution, unless a nerf is actually warranted. Usually preferred.

Baby steps. I think the problem is that devs are prioritizing fixes before making changes that will also require fixing. So my wish list is small compared to the OP.

1) give us better tools to coordinate large amounts of gamers. For instance why arent there options for simple things (simple being relative to other games) like formation of raids. In my opinion this would give a positive experience in commander efforts to coordinate.

2) take out useless space in BLs. Cause seriously who cares about the huge body of water in the middle of the map? Take it out or give it a purpose please.

3) mobs in wvw are dumb i agree. At the very least dont allow ppl to rally off of a pve kill.

4) i couldnt help myself… Take out the whole downed aspect.

Stacking has already been weakened. Not really any need for this. If anything, it will create more problems than it solves.

Mesmer portals are fine. The real problem that I think you’re alluding to is culling. If culling can’t be fixed, portals would need some modification, otherwise, no.

3) Golems ability to attack keep walls.
Not sure about this one. Golems attacking walls + mesmer portals may have some ninja capping implications.

4) Nerf X Class (this applies to all…so just fill the X with the class you hate the most).
I think the game is actually pretty balanced as it is. Its not perfect, and some small fixes here and there may be necessary, but overall its pretty good.

Not sure why you would suggest this. Swords are very helfpul to players looking for action. They’re also helpful in that they reduce (but not eliminate) scouting work which, lets face it, is not very fun.

7) Buff to supply camp guards (+2 levels isn’t a worth upgrade, but making one or two of the guards champions would be much more rewarding and detrimental to rush tactics).
I like the fact that small teams can be dispatched on supply camp missions. Small groups of players joining wvw can still feel like they’re accomplishing something. I get that the guard upgrade may not be as useful an upgrade, but I think the better method

Don’t think we need this. Maybe if you included your reasoning for adding it, I’d reconsider.

Thats fine, just make it so that self-stealthed players don’t count towards capping

Would LOVE something like this. Also, I think it would be very useful for commanders to be able to expand their minimap to cover an entire map so that they don’t have to keep switching to map and back.

Don’t care for this. Part of WvW is knowing where your enemy is or could be and adapting. This would allow players to jump around the map too much.

Shouldn’t just put the class we play. I think most classes are pretty well balanced. Even rangers, which people say are weak, can be very strong in the hands of a capable player.

Overall, I agree with some, disagree with others. But I like the effort nonetheless

I totally agree with removing orange swords. This would put a bigger premium on using scouts across the entire world and puts another layer of tactical coordination into the game. Also there’s plenty of people that just love running around by themself spamming “server X attacking keep Y”. They love that stuff with all their confusing useless updates.

This gives another realistic edge to the game mode.

Most of my suggestions are based on the problem I have with towers/keeps being way too easy to take. There should be a lot more strategy involved (supply starvation, cutting off defenders, requiring more siege weapons than just rams + superior number of players, hitting the fortification from multiple sides simultaneously, etc).

  1. Limit AoE damage on battlements to siege weapons only giving the defenders at least some advantage (currently attackers have the advantage, which is backwards).
  2. Double boiling oil and cannon health.
  3. Adjust the LOS check so players don’t have to jump up on the ledge of a keep wall to hit attackers on the ground.
  4. Allow players to drop off the supply they are carrying at a tower/keep (to speed up upgrades and resupply).
  5. Allow Yaks to keep traveling if the supply depot at their destination is full. This should include moving through keeps to the other side. It is so frustrating when a tower near a supply depot needs Yaks, but they turn toward a keep (which is full of supply) and then go poof when they get there.
  6. Agreed on removing the downed state in WvW. It gives an unnecessary advantage to larger groups of players. Having superior numbers is already an advantage in itself, don’t make it that much harder by having to kill them 2 and 3 times over just to score a victory.
  7. Allow players to repair siege weapons when not in combat.
  8. Remove the expiration time on siege weapons. If need be implement a cap on number built within a structure to keep from having it become too fortified.
  9. Make the projectile arc for catapults adjustable so they can be fired over walls (both into and out of the courtyard).

  11. Buff Yak escorts so they actually stop solo players from killing the Yaks.

I agree with this but only for some abilities not all (abilities with red circle and delay time should not have AoE cap, example: dragon tooth, barrage, etc).

Agree, but the limit is 25 players. (not just party members).

Disagree. The only thing needs to modify is orange sword flag will appear if there is at least 10 people attacking something. (So watch for white sword).

Actually buff the supervisor and quatermaster too. It does not make sense the guard lvl 82, but the supervisor lvl 80.

Nope. But make it slower to res people in battle, and the number of resurrector is limited to 3 or make the downed player take 300% damage and the resurrector take 150% damage.

I would like to add more to that wish list.

33) Make BoH drops apply to a credit field much like karma.

34) Increase BoH drop rate so dedicated WvW players do not have to touch PvE content.

35) Give rewards to those in support roles/positions or boredom. Examples would be trebbing, escorts, support kill credit, spotting.

36) Give a spotting option that replaces the automated crossed swords (similar to BF spotting, then fades after x seconds.), basically players should be able to flag enemy units on the map and get credit. Would make scouting a big part of the meta.

Okay, here’s what I’ve got….

1) Added ( though this kind of immunity to specific damage types is nearly impossible to program because abilities like Fireball is considered AOE due to splash and would make defending also way too balanced on their side. It’s taking the scale and instead of evening it out you dump everything from one side and the other side just sinks.)

4) Added (though from a single perspective that a whole server could go from supply camp to supply camp in circles just draining them, to then teleport back to their spawn and rush to their Keep to get it up would be crazy. It just encourages flipping for the sake of getting supply and nobody would care about Yaks or their supply lines on that style).

Okay, here’s what I’ve got….

1) Added ( though this kind of immunity to specific damage types is nearly impossible to program because abilities like Fireball is considered AOE due to splash and would make defending also way too balanced on their side. It’s taking the scale and instead of evening it out you dump everything from one side and the other side just sinks.)

Good point. I should have stated GTAoE spells. Spells that target players are fine, even if they cause AoE splash damage, because if they are in LOS, that’s what they get.

4) Added (though from a single perspective that a whole server could go from supply camp to supply camp in circles just draining them, to then teleport back to their spawn and rush to their Keep to get it up would be crazy. It just encourages flipping for the sake of getting supply and nobody would care about Yaks or their supply lines on that style).

I see your point, but we already have the option to repair walls and doors that way but the vast majority of players don’t do it. Only a minority of players would go to the trouble of running supply from a depot to a tower/keep, but it would be nice to have the option when you need one upgraded quickly.

I agree it probably won’t go away any time soon. It’s very frustrating though when you’re fighting against superior numbers, and repeatedly get players down only to have them teleport/rocket back into the pack and get insta-rezed.

They could add diminishing returns (less health each time it’s repaired), and require a fee (have to buy a repair kit).

We can already achieve this effect by “tapping” each siege weapon every so often. It’s silly that you have to do so. And as far as crashing the server, that’s the reason I also suggested limiting how much siege could be built within a fortification.

Yes, that’s the point. We should be able to be lob projectiles over keep walls from the courtyard and hit people just outside.

If their purpose is to tell where the enemy is, then they need to do a better job. A flipped sentry isn’t much of an indication of anything. It could have been 1 solo player who’s now long gone or an entire zerg about to attack your Garrison. Also, if the enemy doesn’t want you to know they’re there, then they’ll just avoid killing him.

34) Increase BoH drop rate so dedicated WvW players do not have to touch PvE content.

35) Give rewards to those in support roles/positions or boredom. Examples would be trebbing, escorts, support kill credit, spotting.

36) Give a spotting option that replaces the automated crossed swords (similar to BF spotting, then fades after x seconds.), basically players should be able to flag enemy units on the map and get credit. Would make scouting a big part of the meta.

Also, I’m not so sure about rewarding supporting such as healing or what not because this game has made it viable for everyone to heal themselves and just keep damaging/fighting enemy. Trebbing part I can agree on because someone who’s been trebbing a wall for 30 minutes should get Gold rank when the keep is finally taken).

-Need better rewards because if i wanted the gears, i can just do dungeons for the same stats. Invaders gears don’t necessarily have the best looking skin.
-There should be some new designs for new terrains around the map to make open field battles become guerilla warfare.
-There should be more then one person manning the seiges (except golems). These are some really heavy artilliries.. Can one person srsly one man a catapult, ballista, or treb irl?
-Eternal BG and BLs are fine but I feel like it’s time for new WvWvW maps (replace em or add em, it doesn’t matter).
-It’s always about capping. Why can’t there be another way to earn points? Such as a map exclusively for Deathmatches or something like that. I was always neutral about capping but it gets really repetitive eventually. (which is why i dont touch spvp)

To clarify #33, i’m asking for BoH to no long be an object, and to become just another variable like karma. That way no worries about auto loot, and it becomes the defacto PvP credit. Similar to Wow Honor points, just a variable on your bar.

For #35 the rewards can be set appropriate to the task. Even a small pittance of a reward is better than no acknowledgement of the contribution. Yaks can maybe give 3-5% of daily, it’s not super great but it’s a hey you did something helpful.

I wish it wasn’t as easy to attack towers/keeps in this game. You can’t even get on the walls anymore since a few AOE classes totally lock the walls down and because of the obstructed bug you have to get right on the lip of wall (speaking as a warrior who uses a longbow if I am defending a tower) which means you’ll be pulled down any second and get insta burst down. This is leading to people not even bothering defending IMO.

Equal badges/bags for support specs! My Warrior/Thief/Mesmer/Ele all get 3-5 times more badges than my MAIN character, a full heal support guardian. Specially if Ascended gear is going to be based on kill credit or drop in those bags.

I honestly thought they would have limited portals to 5 people, if they do end up doing it that way they need to revert the cooldown back to 60 seconds from the last useless yet annoying for mesmers nerf.

Portal needs cap and timer to space out enemy invaders coming through, personally though I don’t think anyone should be able to go through but the caster.

Some of you are saying lake is useless, maybe we should be able to build siege boats/platforms in water? Comes with four cannons and trebuchet, but super spendy or a capturable objective/event.

I think it would be a nice addition for a armory and barracks upgrade. Armory would provide player-held anti-siege/zerg weaponry only usable within keep. Barracks would simply spawn a small anti-zerg army once the enemies attack a keep.

Currently, npc defenders are very weak and… dumb. Your castle lord is being killed, get off the wall! All remaining defenders need to organize and run into interior walls once outer wall is breached. Also could they have a organized targeting system? And one last thing for defending npcs…. Stealth demolitionist. I think it would be cool if an upgrade could spawn these fellows that stealth and attempt to drop bombs on siege within borders.

Sentries need to show when enemies pass nearby on map, right now they are currently pretty useless besides showing, “hey, they are probably going to take this camp, which is going to fall as fast as that sentry.” Also be nice if you could purchase watchtower or some other sort of similar functioning upgrade.

Keeps/Towers fall to fast- That part is really all your fault if it falls. If they took longer, then that would be an incredibly boring siege of invaders blow up defenders with AoE for twice as long. I really just think walls need redesigned to benefit the defender and not invader. Murder holes and other sorts of stuff need added.

Something to promote people to stay defensive and give defenders of towers/keeps something to do while not under siege and otherwise sitting around waiting for an attack to happen. (It can get boring to keep ticking away siege weapons)

1. hide enemy tag when they are dead. All you can see when there are a bunch of enemies are red tags, but only the alive enemies should matter. Maybe an toggle-able option.
2. shorten the enemy tag name: show only the server
3. if clipping is due to too few info coming from the server, just give the same uniform to enemies (perhaps per class) just as in PvP. We don’t care what specific piece of armor the enemy uses.
4. allow players to assign different icons to targets, either for their group or for themselves (without the need to be in a group)

2) Mesmer portals. Agree on limitation. At least make them not be able to go through walls. If a tower or keep is secure with no open walls or gates a portal should not be able to go through that. Sweeping for hiding mesmers is lame.

For me, all I really want to see happen is:
(I play GW2 for the WvW. No dungeons and no SPvP)

1) Fix the dam culling already
2) Badges automatically go into your inventory
3) Little more frequency on the badges (killed 50 this morning and got no badges, even spiked about 15 of them)
4) Better rewards – right now they suck because of the horrible badge RNG and the “oh look, bags of loot all around my dead body” factor

I could care less about the rest. WvW is the worst grind in the game when you are going for WvW gear via badges.

7) I’m sorry, but I can’t rightfully add this one. It’s not a WvW situation at all. World vs World is defined and designed about map-capping domination of the world you’re a member of. A deathmatch type mechanic doesn’t fit into this system at all and would be only fitting in sPvP. Thank you for the other wishlist ideas though.

1) Added (but the reason I personally love it as a physical Account Bound item is that I can get a stockpile of them on my main and use them to buy gear for one of my many alt characters. If it was a currency like Karma, it would be character bound and non-transferable, making this an issue.).

I’ll need more clarification on what you’re wanting here, please. “Something” could be anything, even Costume Brawl.

55)Armory (Environmental Weapons) Upgrade/Barracks Upgrade ( the first of which provides defenders with EW’s that are only usable in the keep’s direct area, while the second spawns a small armory of NPC’s when the doors are breached to defend)

56)NPC’s move to defend Lord (all the stationary NPC’s at the objective move to the Lord when under attack, acting similar to a Dynamic Event with the Lord being the trigger of their movement)

This goes along with #36. There are holes by some doors opposite the portal out, but you cant shoot out of them. Maybe an additional upgrade is in order here that allows you to target through the holes. Of course they would have to fix it to prevent/reduce splash damage from aoes through walls to make this feasible.

61. Siege Towers- Durable and mobile, but also slow, expensive, and take tons of supply to build.
62. More guerilla warfare options, like destroying bridges, blocking roads, and making it easier to ambush. The destroyed bridges and road blocks are supposed to block dolyaks and they can be repaired/destroyed by enemy teams.

There are too many so I just skimmed but I don’t think most of those ideas would be improvements except doing something about badges.
