So…I was rolling around EB on an alt today, and while making an assault on SM, a group of SOR came to defend it. In the crown of red, I spotted one name that completely shocked me.

That’s WvW rank 3,145. I don’t doubt someone made it there, but it’s still shocking to see. I’m seriously curious what kind of play/farming schedule has lead to a Platinum Squire.

I like to think I play WvW a lot, but my priority is always open-field battles and sieges with my guild. When I’m solo, I just roam. I don’t really participate in the PvE trains, but I’m curious how many hours a day you have to spend on a train to get that far.

Whoever the player is must spend massive amounts of time online. Up until a month ago I was playing perhaps 2-3 hours a night during the week and up to 6 hours per day on Saturday & Sunday (over a 8 month period) with my level hitting 393. The highest rank player ever encountered by me on an opposing server was a silver knight with most players being bronze level or below.

Forgot the ranking system changed too. In the past you changed rank every 10 levels except when you were veteran, legend or champion (30 levels for each). Now you change rank every 30 levels once you hit veteran and beyond. The platinum player obviously ranked up fast before the changes were implemented.

How long has world vs world been running?

was either indo, honeymoon or most likely a dev untagged with his anet guild

We have a Person on SFR (EU), he/she is rank 3100+ too, always running around with wxp-booster i think 10 or more hours a day :]

Saw him south of SM today. And I thought mere hardcore players playing every night had no life, lol.

Ive never seen someone with platinum status; I think the highest I’ve seen is Bronze assaulter or something. Even then, nearly everyone I noticed is general or lower.

WPX have been available since March 26, that is 270 days from now.
In order to reach rank 3,945 you would need 19705000, that is about 72981 WXP per day.

That would of course be quite possibly with playing high amount of hours per day and always using boosts (WPX boost + Birthday boost), and most likely also trading Laurels for WXP ranks and getting lucky with dropped Liquid WXP ^^

Still, very impressive/sad ^^

My highest ranking character is 187 (bronze assaulter) with my total ranks between all characters at 448 and even being retired I do not have the time to push the 3,145 ranks for platinum squire! Yes, even I have a life!

Ah of course. But that still means 58166 per day, which is a rather big number nonetheless.

No, but I only saw him that one time, when SOR came to defend our assault. Their blob was about 3-4x our size, so we had to retreat.

And really, WvW ranks don’t give you much combat benefit, past rank ~260 (when you max out both guard leech and fortitude). An impressive accomplishment regardless though…guess I will start using the WXP boosters I keep saving up for some reason…

Chance for WXP? A Wild Honeymoooon Appears! Guy is nuts and I admire his dedication. More than I will ever have.

The funny thing is: When i see an enemy with such a high rank while roaming i know i won’t have any problems killing him. the only way to get to such high ranks is playing PvD (D stands for Door) all the time, so they have little experience in fighting against players

With the current masteries around 1395? might be 20 ranks off but around that number.

I’m just curious, is there a level at which you surpass their entire ranking system, or does it just generate random titles.

It is “inconceivable” that there was a Diamond two months ago without some serious cheating or maybe a dev testing out the leveling system. That is over 32 million WxP and would require a tremendous effort to gain in such a short amount of time. A player that averaged 4 full levels per hour would still have to play 1600 hours to get there.

That would be very very wrong thing to do.
I have seen another plat guy also from SOR tho. Thief. My highest WvW rank is 307 and i almost newer do any PVE or use alts in WVW for last 6 month when i am playing. I got very quickly to 250 on low population server. 10 ppl zerg could take every tower on EB within 30 min – 1 hour time frame on regular day. Now on JQ every rank is a pain:) You guys should think about it this way. Doesn’t matter how nerdy you are and how little life you have that guy has even less

Might be multiple players sharing an account to get it as high up as possible. Note the guild tag. Maybe the entire guild ensures someone is playing on that account nearly all the time.

Would surprise me much less than one player earning 2 ranks per hour 12 hours a day 7 days a week for 5.5 months straight.

Well doing camps you can gain around 1.5 wxp lvl per hour, pvd with no resistant you can about 2lvl per hour. Then you have to take into account how many gold/cash they spend on boosters. I know that with a holiday and a birthday booster I can gain about 75lvl in a day.

2 levels per hour add a booster 3 levels per hour 24 hours straight you might get 75 levels. that’s if your enemy server is weak enough to karma train and strong enough to recap quickly enough for you to keep karma training, and that continues across all time zones. lolwut

It’s Honeymooon. He also has an alt guardian too that’s up there in rank.
