Thieves - this is getting ridiculous
Actually, I’d like to say that thieves can’t kill any class. Tank engi or guardians will give them a hard time. However, they can run away from any class, which is what makes me angry.
- I’d like to see culling get fixed.
- I’d like thieves not to be able to break combat and regen their health so easily by stealthing and running away.
- Anet claims that condition damage is a counter to stealth. However, they gave the thief a heal skill that stealths them and removes all burn, bleed, and poison. LOL. Maybe 1 of 3, but not all.
The only way I’ve ever managed to kill a good thief was with an immobilize and with a buddy doing dps while he couldn’t move. There’s no way you can 1v1 a good thief and kill him, unless you’re also a thief. At best you’ll just make the thief run away.

I don’t disagree with nerfs and balancing, but all these suggestions of haters are geared towards destroying the profession…and what’s funny is, they’re not even aware of it…because they don’t know how a thief works…..
Hey Banana, you didn’t answer why you think I should have to spend a lot of my time learning how to kill a thief when thieves apparently do not have to do the same to kill other classes. Why are other classes supposed to have to take like a college class or something to kill you…..yet all you do probably is hit: Steal, then Cloak and Dagger, then hit backstab and then pick up your loot.
Read thru the forums. How many threads to you see calling for nerfs, complaints about thieves? Now how many do you see about other classes? Do the math. Now why do you think there are so many ‘anti thief’ threads? Because they are designed well and balanced? Because so many enjoy fighting them? I think not.
Whatever nerfs have been done wasn’t enough. Sorry. Time to get your head out of the sand and open your eyes. Someday ANET will open their eyes hopefully and easy mode will be over.
RedOwl, you answered your own question in your post.
I dont see the problem with thiefs? Other classes make the same damage if you know how to spec them for damage.
I believe you guys want to take low damage while running under 1.8/1.9k armor???
The only problem is the stealth itself loading 1-3 sec delay becouse of the culling, but that is being worked by Anet, its just a matter to w8th for the fix, and play revenge “im watching you now”.

The reason for all the anti Thief posts and threads is because some people do not know that Culling is the problem.
Most of the problems associated with being killed by a Thief stem from Culling not working correctly, and Culling making it seems as though a Thief can permanently stealth, which is not the case.
People need to stop calling for nerfs, and start calling for Culling to be fixed.
I have to agree the vast majority of players are thieves.
What are you talking about? I didn’t see that many of them yet.
OP – Your post is stupid, so what, they probably organised a special super squad or something. I have seen nearly all the classes do this in parties before.
I am going to name my most annoying class in WvW from most annoying to least annoying.
1 – Congratulations we have a tie between ele’s and mesmer’s.
2 – Thieves
3 – Guardians
4 – Warriors
5 – Engineers, Rangers and Necromancers.
SIDENOTE – I think we also need to have a rule when people come on here and whine they need to say what class they play. I play thief! HAHAHA.
Why do you guys get so annoyed by thieves? They are very good at what they are meant to do, so is every class. I just so happens that every class is. Thieves should be the ultimate ganking class. And whenever you meet 5 or more people who can do coordinated ganks (whether they be same class or not), respect them for that, because people are very hard to work with.
So thieves are very good gankers, sure but not overpowered. I’d hate to meet 5 guardians somewhere. If their builds have any good synergy they can keep each other alive for very very long. Any group of people with internal synergy is a very strong opponent, another reason why so many guilds can take on larger zergs of “random people”.
The most annoying thing about thieves is that if they are losing they can usually still escape but if you are losing from a thief it is very unlikely you’ll get away.
(sidenote as per request of the above poster: I play guardian)
7.2k+ hours played on Minesweeper
There seems to be a lot of confusion about thieves.
The attack that people seem to hate is the backstab burst combo. This cannot start in stealth, you have to allow the thief to get the jump on you. Culling is a none issue unless they are jumping from a zerg or they are suicideing into one.
Backstab already had its nerfs, it can be countered and if it gets as flavour as it was in spvp, set yourself up to counter it (as a bonus this will also stop d/d ele opening burst).
Heartseeker spammers can open from stealth but its pretty basic stuff which will probably rely on on a utility to restealth after blowing initiative on Hs. It already got nerfed and is as foo as 100 blades, just learn how to fight it.
P/d uses stealth the most by miles and is all about condition damage. Its not been nerfed but then it has zero burst and all people complain about is burst. Nerf stealth and you stop condition thieves and make them play burst probably backstab.
Another issue is people mistaking shadowsteps for stealth, not all vanishing acts are stealth.
As for culling I think its being greatly overstated as a problem, occasionaly I see the swirl of a thief unstealthing before they render but I can target and attack that. The vast majority of the time they render just fine. When the screen is full culling issues are cross profession.
( I play d/d ele, melee ranger, p/d thief)
When I look on our guild roster I see Rangers and Warriors have the most specimens, followed by Guardian, Ele and Thief, then Necro, Mesmer and Engineer, in that order. If you feel that is not representative, neither is meeting a band of Adventurer class invaders.
8/10 from enemy I see in WWW is thife…
Kytra is full of Crime lol.
Yup, big bandit problem, perhaps worse then Centaurs. And Lion’s Arch is run by pirates.
… he ran into 10 thieves …
How can you know they’re thieves? There’s no indication of profession on the name-tag and armour is shared with Rangers and Engineers, weapons are shared as well and the combat log only shows generalized names.
Whenever I kill a thief I corpse jump him. I am proud of it and encourage everyone to do the same.
I enjoyed this thread.
I’m going to log on my thief and kill everyone now. I’ll kill w/ impunity and kill every class by just pressing 2 buttons……
Hi everyone,
Thanks for your concerns. We will forward them to the team and make sure they are taken note of and fixed.
Thanks for your understanding. This thread is closed
