Thoughts on new WvW
Yea, I feel the automatic upgrades are a bit fast. They should make the timers significantly higher but make the dolyaks worth more off the timers. Right now there isn’t too much to gain from escorting them other than the supply they drop off. If you want an objective upgraded fast you should run dolyaks and it should feel faster.
I like that the gates are stronger, makes defending and attacking more fun and less rush it down.
I like the new power of the lords rooms, if it’s equal numbers I feel the defenders should win.
I don’t think all players playing WvW want to ‘escape’ from PvE. They want open world PvP and in most MMO’s that means PvP in a PvE zone. Its fun ganking a player or group trying to do ‘quests’ (flipping a camp or tower), and fun to avoid a larger group trying to gank you. If you want pure PvP then sPvP is probably the place for you, and guild halls arena/OS for larger fights.

The new BL is really nice, i like games were effort is needed or at least a bit, about combat well Anet is awfully bad at game balance(worse company i have saw at it) and the new classes and new gear will probably take anything down that does not have Hot.
I have been watching the streams it made me uninstall the game.
That SM case sounds bad, but I think the timing on tower upgrades is pretty good, at least. It’s faster, but I think that’s better…it beats no one bothering to upgrade the tower because nothing will finish before the enemies return.
The lords are more fun, and stronger, but I was able to take one down with just one other person helping (Stoic Rampart lord) so I’m inclined to say they aren’t crazy hard. In our case, we had one person in the lord’s face with tons of defense and the other person doing ranged DPS and hiding behind the walls to avoid the brunt of the lord’s attacks.
The maps are bigger, but there are also myriad shortcuts. Between the elevators and the speed boost from the shrines, I found myself getting around more or less at the same pace. Actually, it was probably a bit faster while I had the shrine buff.
As for PvE…I saw plenty of mobs, but I didn’t actually fight any of them save for shrine guards. It didn’t feel any different from the Alpine version.

This new BL is absolute garbage. It kills small man groups and unless youre on T1 or T2 mega map blobs I can’t see this being any fun. RIP WvW. Maybe now I can teach these rich boi PVE’rs what a stun breaker is and how to dodge.

Lol are you serious? I dare you, I DARE you ask 100 people on their reason why they log into WvW every evening. If you get even two who’ll reply with a straight face “for the PvE content.” or even just “for the PvX gameplay like in other MMOs” I’ll pay you 1k gold.
What the kitten would you PvE-side in WvW do? Kill drakes and harpies? There’s nothing. On this new borderlands the same.
(Grinding vistas and stuff is an exception since it’s a one-time off thing, not something the person in question would do every day/week)

PvE elements in WvW is BS, because of rallying. After I down someone, the LAST thing I want is for them to rally off some deer or something.
The new BL is like they stuck all the modes together…‘X captured Y’ messages like PvP, mobs like PvE, and something resembling what WvW used to be.

Considering they removed the ability to rally off of PvE mobs, I do not understand the point of your post.

Personally I think these maps were designed for EB as the scale too big for BL. Everyone knows more people play and blob in EB than BLs except home. If this was EB I would play wvw everyday. The BLS are just too large to organise anything major server-wide as you need 3-4 20+ people blobs to have organisation. If you have 1 comm on the BLs the map ends up running like a clock with no blobs ever seeing each other without risking losing their territorial expansion for a fight. The mechanics are awesome though. I did enjoy playing a couple of hours on the new BL to try it.

Theren arent many players playing WvW nowadays i think, 70×3 migh be a good number even for the new bl, i dont see that influx WvW happening, the map size is indeed amazing but to big for this game, one thing for sure BL’s needed to be changed and once again Anet failed kinda off to deliver a good experience, they increased the size of the map instead of only change map design, and them could make a big EB map, that i agree.

Hmm…ok. I could swear someone rallied off a mob yesterday when I was fighting them, but could have been lag I guess.
I am agreeing with the op on automatic upgrades.
I am on a server that has very little server population outside of the European peak hour time zone. This match up we are fighting servers that have a strong night capping pressense.
When I logged in a bit later I found all three keeps and sm on eb waypointed to blue.
After standing at spawn for a while I saw maybe 10 people run past me, probably open their maps to have a look at things and very promptly waypoint out.
Gaining advantages like wp’s should not come free and with little to no effort just because you have different coverage to others.

You can’t waypoint to enemy keeps anymore, even if they’re yours. So they either went to SM or their keep.
