To everything you state in your article I feel nothing but admiration and an overwhelming feeling of “Yes, yes, yes that’s the way I feel.”
Some parts of WvW are extremely fun (small duels, large open field battles, but also the sieging part you mention). Others are just lacking (like the way zergs function, the lesser rewards for people who do valuable things, the lack of guild content and the fails in the commander system).

The fact that you recognize these issues and are willing to do something about them, makes you and your team more than the WvW community could ever wish for.
I hope the changes will be as promising as you make them sound and that we will find WvW ever more interesting and challenging!

So what does that condition do? As it ticks you slowly lose speed (weight gain), you lose health unless you eat a bunch of food buffs, you gain poison conditions but in the mornings only. If it ticks full an Asuran ranger pops out and starts laying traps all over!

This was almost my thoughts when reading his article. I was really excited to see a dev really break down how they wanted to progress WvW in the future and communicate it to us players. Thank you so much from me as well.

I agree. This blogpost gave me hope.
He was pretty straight forward and it’s calming to know, that they recognize the problems WvW currently face.

The WvW players have realized all of these problems for a long time, so it’s not enlightening to us. The real question we would like to see answered is “How will you fix it?”

The only big change that we’ve seen recently to influence the playstyle of WvW was the short period between the arrow cart buff and its nerf against siege. During that time, a handful of players could defend against that large, uncoordinated zerg and slow the coordinated zergs.

I am glad that the MMO community still contains naive, overly optimistic, and hopeful people. Not all of us can be bitter as yet another game kittens its potential down the drain with one stupid decision after another.

A lot of you seem to forget that this game is not even a year old. So they do make changes (even though the first set of them took a while).

But since the game came out we have seen:
The introduction of siege skills (dynamic play came with it)
Traps (love them or hate them, they are a good tool for those that know how)
Ascended gear is finally obtainable via WvW only
Daily’s have been updated so that you don’t have to PvE for your laurel.
Rewards for defending are better.
And WvW leveling (with titles), which like it or not is a pretty substantial step into adding “progression” in the game.

THey cant fix WvWvW.

The problems stem from one simple issue. The map size to player number ratio is too small.

It allows one uberblob to travel the map and take objectives and still defend too.
If it was much bigger, smaller groups could hit 4-5 objectives at once and force the blobs to break up as they could not chain cap fast enough to keep up.

Unfortunatly thats not the case, oneblob can cross a map fast enough to control it most of the time. So people blob. So seige has to be op to allow defense, which causes seigewars…which is boring.

The saying to little to late comes to mind!
I read absolutely nothing that indicates you understand why WvW comes up so short. I also fear your dumb kitten mix it up with dumb rules idea. I guess you will give us a special WvW backpack and pat yourselves on the back as great innovators. We don’t want gimmicks in WvW we are not the pve crowd chasing the next bauble. We want the feeling of a war going on!! As is your battlegrounds are a loosely associated group of instances that have no effect on each other. If you don’t understand why that is bad than hire someone that does! Of course this all just scratches the surface of what needs to be done. Maybe some of your developers are to young but I would advise you to look at Dark Age of Camelot. To many of us old timers it’s Realm vs Realm (WvW) was the best conceived to date even though it is 10 years old. Put a new graphics engine on it and I’d be back there in a second.

- how useful are siege skills if you do not enjoy using siege?
- no issue with traps, I love trolling people with them
- only took them 7 months to add an ascended gear vendor… we should be grateful
- dailies could be done in WvW only all along, its just a bit easier
- rewards for defending… you mean like getting to keep your objective?
- wvw leveling was made a joke the moment they made it about kill tags and again how useful is any of those abilities when you do not enjoy using siege? I have 90 points unspent, this was about a weak a step into a progression system as you can make without going backwards.

ANET has fixed Culling in a year, that’s it. WAR was pretty pathetic in their first year, releasing LoTD before the class balance patch, but ANET has done less, imo.

One great thing to add is incentive for this war..

What is war without gain? We have no real personal gains. Other than loot.. Which we could get anywhere, experience which we could get at a less costly venue. Badge armor? Quicker to farm and get armor through gold and TP.

What I’m saying is what’s in it? We fight fight fight but for what? Obviously we fight because we like to, and we like to win. But when we’re frustrated, we can get off and do other things. There’s nothing truly drawing us in. If you fix this, and fix it right mind you, you’ll have a different situation on your hands IMO.

I just want to use the best in game tools to coordinate multiple groups without inviting every single player in the zone to our pin. Just give us a guild or private squad system for goodness sakes!
