and no it is not all the 1/2 naked mesmers running around in a Cloud Fly zerg o.O
Since the announcement of the HoT expansion we’ve begun to see a lot of WvW players trickling back into the mix, from self imposed PvE land exile or other games grown stale, or new transfers still coming up from below looking for action 24/7. Its been gradual but it might be beginning to show with longer queue times, increased lag (something changed with the last patch we all know but if fewer players are around the lag is not as bad) and more random map rage with sailors getting salty.
This should come as no surprise to anyone as this forum has been warning for awhile of the consequences when everyone bandwagons to the top but it does make for some tough choices for those of us who want to play the game without lag but are very attached to the communities we started out with. I imagine it is only going to be getting worse the closer we get to HoT’s release.
I’ve been holding out hope beyond hope that ANET has some super secret population adjustment plan prior to HoT’s launch but I don’t how much longer that fading ember can keep smoldering. I imagine we will know the answer once Season 4 is announced and we see what transfer prices are set to and if any further incentives will be added but I am thinking some of us are going to want to start looking for new homes before then. Think I’ve got my plan B & C figured out but I would hate to leave the awesome JQ community behind. Please ANET, tell us there is a cure in the works.
And everyone in the lower tiers proceeds to laugh their kitten off at this complaint.
You put yourself into this situation. You get to deal with it.
Better to have a bit of lag for a while than to have empty borderlands and no off peak hour gameplay a month after the hype goes down.
Feel free to transfer off
I’m in t1 … what is this queue times you speak of
Signed TC

Jokes on you, I play in T1 almost daily without dealing with queues :P

Yeah. I know. But this is obviously complaining about post expac queues.
JQ the new top ranked server complaining when you had so many players transfer to you for that very reason. The queues and lag come with the ranking btw.
The irony is thick; just saying.

Maybe HoT is the planned super secret population adjustment? Maybe you get to choose between stacking the top tiers and dealing with the lag, or spreading out a little and making all the tiers a little more fun, t1 included?
It wouldn’t make it a little more fun. They left the lower tiers in the first place because they didn’t want to be there anymore. Moving back isn’t going to suddenly make it more enjoyable than it was before.
All T1 servers are stacked, make no mistake. The new WvW maps during HoT release are gonna have ridiculous 200-500 man queues most probably as everyone floods in to check out the new content. No idea which timezone you’ve played in on JQ but I’ve played in them all at some point or another and there’s never been any really ridiculous queue sizes. There are a few occasions where we’ve had 40-50 but that’s hardly a common occurrence.
It’s the nature of the beast anyway. If you don’t like really high populations in WvW, which bring both benefits of 24/7 action as well as drawbacks such as some lag generally if all 3 servers have map queues in the same vicinity and potential queues, then maybe T1 isn’t for you.
T1 isn’t going to change. People are free to find servers more suited to their preferred playstyle if it doesn’t suit them. I’d wager most people who are here like it just fine though and are willing to put up with the minor inconveniences in order to play in the biggest, most active communities. I’m one of those people, personally.

I don’t really understand the purpose of this post?
You can always move. If you don’t want to move alone then bring friends. If they don’t want to come then Anet can’t force transfer people because you’re unhappy.
You have to make a choice.
This post was more of a plea to Arena Net that if they are working a population balance fix they get out there before the release of HoT and preferably before Season 4 if possible and if there isn’t a fix in the works then to please let us know so those who’ve been foolishly waiting on fence since the CDI can make a more informed decision. ><
Granted there is also a bit of warning here for those contemplating a move to T1, no we don’t have massive queues right now (even went down again over the weekend but I suspect that is more to do with lag and the arrival of spring) but it is trending upwards. There is a harsh price to pay for 24/7 coverage. Can you imagine the kind of queues (and lag!) T1 could induce if everyone came back at once to check out something new & shiny? Over stacking to top has never been a good idea for the long term health of the game and I would expect ANET to be aware of that.
Sadly I’ve never belonged in T1 but my guild and friends have been on JQ since the betas with the goal of finding a home to stay loyal to so moving is not a choice I take lightly. I have always spoken against the idea of recruiting and am often advocating for lower borderland map population caps to discourage the super-stacking but so far to avail. My hopes lie with ANET and them coming up with a reasonable solution but given their track record in that department you can see why I am starting to feel anxious.

What if he played at this server since start and didn’t want to bring players there? He didn’t put himself to it, players did that.
Am I the only one that sees HOT as Pvx going to Pve for a bit? I know I probably will….
I’d be happy for more queues over the week as a TC player. We have queues around the score reset for a day or two then it dies off, after which we get beat back down by the other two servers since we barely have a night population while JQ never seems to sleep >_>
JQ has been a T1 destination for years, this isn’t new.
OP, you’ve also lamented it for years now.. Maybe it’s time to move… You’re in an obvious minority. Lots of servers with low population, only a few with high turnout.
Um, xfer to TC. We have literally no queue times and farm JQ zergs with twice the size of our own blobs. TC = Quality > Quantity.
make pop transfer to a smaller population cost less or better yet, free.
whether or not op bandwagoned, whether or not the lag is due to stab changes, hot or whatever, there is no denying the fact of population imbalance. im guessing changes will come when more and more people leave the game, possibly in a few years. thats what has happened in other games.
As a long time Tier1/Tier2 player in this game this is just how Tier1 has been and always will be. WvW has been a complete and utter afterthought for Anet for a very long time. Once in a great while we’ll get thrown a bone like the WvW advancement system and the new borderlands map. They refuse to even acknowledge the problem of “Nightcapping” let alone address it with some kind of variable point system based on population.
You either accept the system as is or you find your own solution to your problems cause Anet ain’t gonna do jack or squat for you.
Lawls, T1 people problems…
I have never seen all 4 wvw maps que’d, so there isn’t a queue problem, it’s the players that all want to go into one map…now if there’s 50 person queue that’s enough to flip a whole nother map , might wanna come up with a system amongst your server to take the que’d people and tell them to stop wasting time waiting and just destroy another map.
T1 is superior in all aspects of wvw, you have plenty of defenders, plenty of roamers, plenty of blob on blob…..what more could you ask for just goto another map and viola…want to fight a blob on a dead map? start flipping keeps, they will come and gladly offer up a fight.
it’s going to be fun when HoT comes out…que’d to the max but fun
I already provided solution of adding Desert Map in Overflow, as to Eotm Category.
While people wait for que, they can enjoy in the overflow Desert Map while waiting for ques in their main world.
Enjoy them Ques!
what more could you ask for
the opportunity to solo a tower/keep.
its quite rare in t1. its not so rare in t8-t4.

You do realize that any ‘population balance fix’ will necessarily remove player choice somewhere, right? Because players have the tool to fix the population imbalance (transfer) and we’ve used it to break things further.
I play in T1 daily, and I know I barely ever run into Queues due to being one of the people who play at nights/early mornings. (Aka what is considered, OCX/SEA/Early EU times.)
I might if lucky run into 1 queue during SEA on JQ. ^.~ Generally 15 or less, or weekends the 1 queue might push 25? (Either way, they don’t last long.)
It isn’t queues that are causing the lag. ANET broke something last release. I’m wondering if it is the stability change or if something else caused the issue.

Some people are speculating that the change to stability is requiring more game engine calculations and so when big zergs fight the servers get bogged down. Sounds about right to me…

I read some where that the “lag” is actually being caused by the new CoherentUI process they added/updated in a recent patch.
This lag is different from the normal “skill lag” you get in large zergs. That appears to be on the server side. This lag appears to be on the client side. I say this because some people experience it when others at the same time say everything is fine. Ping tests are fine, so it doesn’t appear to be network related.
To test the idea I tried hiding the UI in game (CTRL+SHIFT+H by default) and all of the lag went away. Everyone I had do this also had zero lag after doing so.
Of course the problem with this is that you can’t reliably play wvw with no UI. You can’t see commander tags or maps or even your heatlh/dmg. So it’s not really a good fix if it does work for you.
I don’t normally post on the forums but if this IS the issue and this fix DOES work for some people then hopefully the word will spread and Anet can fix it.
Well as you’ve read, it’s a problems of players’ own making.
We know well over half of those on T1 servers are there for bandwagoning, they wanted the loot and an active server.
Thanks to that it left those on lower servers with less active servers.
Only solution is transfer down!
Yup, transfer down!
But who will want to transfer down? It means less loot, especially during tournaments! And we all want our gold dolyak finisher cos we so deserved it, we were in the winning server!
And guess what, even if anet does have a super secret population plan, it’ll be getting people to transfer to lower servers!
That’s because this is currently the ONLY solution!
So transfer down, and fight for your loot, loot that you deserve, not leech off your superior numbers and coverage!
So transfer down now, get less loot, better fights, less lag, and shorter queues.
But that loot, yo, we so want that loot, so we’ll stick to T1 and just complain.
We know well over half of those on T1 servers are there for bandwagoning, they wanted the loot and an active server.
its not bandwagoning if you leave a dead server for an active one, thats just you complaining that youre on a losing side.

Then question is why move from bronze straight up to server ranks 1-5?
What was so wrong with silver league servers?
Win or lose we dont care really, we want decent fair fights where you get what you earn, not leech from others with dominance via coverage.
Well come HoT, T1 will soon realise, as OP has pointed out, they will have a huge problem with queues. Depending on how well the new maps are, these queues could last for a long time to the point some will have to transfer down if they want to play!
The irony!
I’m not sure there’s going to be all that many people rushing to WvW when HoT releases. At least for the first couple of weeks.
I mean the only ones who will are the people who only play WvW. And most of them are already doing WvW.
PvX and casual WvW’ers will be in PvE. Trying the new area, making their specializations, making their Revenant.
Actually I predict that WvW will have less people than normal the first couple of weeks after HoT release.
I mean the only ones who will are the people who only play WvW. And most of them are already doing WvW.
You do know how many players left the game right?! Thousands!
Even T1 NA used to have zergs from all 3 server running at 11pm UK time, now it’s just the one, and you’d be lucky to get a queue.
The new map will be available for all, meaning a lot of old players will come back to see how it’s like. Someof course will not, but a lot will seeing as they wont have to pay.
How many that will come back, well we wont know until the expansion comes out, but guesses are it will cause problems for the top 3 servers at least.
PvX and casual WvW’ers will be in PvE. Trying the new area, making their specializations, making their Revenant.
EotM will be armies of uplevel Revenants and nothing else.. Lawls!

Probably, but I am sure u will see tons of insta 80s with saved up tomes as well….. I will probably insta 80 one and slow level a second myself….
The T1 queues are one thing, but the lag is happening independent of what borderland, tier, or server you are on. The only requirement needed for game breaking lag is the number of people on the screen. Seems like once that number hits 40-50 total, the game gets progressively and aggressively more unplayable.
And yes, even on lower tiers during prime time 45 in one place at a time is easily doable ….that would literally equate to a 15v15v15 from 3 servers.
Since this forum gets zero attention and our forum liason doesnt even use this forum (boggle) the best bet is for the WvW community to keep a bug post bumped to the top until they at least respond to it. I created one here to consolidate the complaints in the proper spot.
