I’ve been playing on IoJ my whole life, and its safe to say I’ve built some very solid friendships. Sadly, I’ve also built quite a large amount of enemies. I think after being kicked from my guild, it’s time to start a new journey.

I’ve always wanted to join a T1 Server, especially for WvW. I do enjoy solo roaming, and it will always be my favorite thing to do.

Now I would like to join a T1 Server which will stay at T1 rather than moving up and down from T2. I would like to also join a roaming guild which would be able to help me learn more, and develop as a WvW player.

I do have friends on Jade Quarry, but I also know a large amount of amazingly high skilled players on Blackgate.

My question is, which one should I transfer to?

As someone who spent a lot of time on IOJ, you could have done that there. There were numerous skilled roaming groups in the time I was on the server, and off the server. I’ve been on several T2 servers and faced T1. Have fun trying to roam. 4 players running in the general direction of something we own? Better zerg them down!

T1 does not play the wvw you know. Almost everything shares a common denominator of PPT. There are “fights” guilds supposedly, but god forbid somebody starts attacking a keep. They’ll run away faster than you can say “Where are my bags running off to?”

All servers ppt to some extent, and some guilds are much more focused on it than others. If you really want to hone your fighting skills and become a better player, T1 is not the place to do it. T2 has enough PPT focused groups to remain in the tier with some sense of stability. But unlike T1 (given the recent disbanding of a few true “for the fights” guilds), there are groups who enjoy fighting each other. They’ll go out of their way to whisper other guild leaders to set up open field scrims or matched number fights in OS. Try this in T1, you’ll get “Sorry, we’re pushing this week!”

Roaming guild on BG and IoJ is not the same thing. What you call a zerg for them is still considered a small roaming party.

I’d avoid this place like hell.

My 2 cents from a fellow roamer who has played on all tiers and 10 different servers.

Someone post a screenshot of the T1 queue’s tonight. I want to see a 2k queue does the number fit?

BG if you want an auto little challenge win.

Would it made a difference on if I preferred to play on borderlands? I don’t mind adjusting my play style according how the server runs. If it means zerging with a guild or even defending towers.
I’m more or less in it for the “T1 experience” and I’d like to start over. But clearly according to you guys, its not the best choice for a player with my taste.

BUT if I were to transfer anyways which one would I pick? (Not that I will now, just out of curiosity)

If you’re truly insistent on xferring to T1 I believe JQ always needs NA players.

Thought on IoJ there’s more then just your pld guild you can join as well.

Jade Quarry is truly the best WvW server, PvE server, and PvP server. Cannot go wrong with Jade Quarry.

Thing is, Blackgate made it to T1 with a bunch of random wvw guilds joining them, Jade Quarry is just a natural born talented server full of talent. It has a strong rich community unlike the Blackgate server where not many people know each other because most of the guilds are from outbound servers.

It doesn’t really matter, the top 2 play the same way.

You should look beyond just the server and find some reason to join one in particular. Perhaps you have some friend(s) on this or that server.

BG and JQ have equally good roamers. So does TC.

All have fun and cool communities.

Having friends on both, I really cant say. But i do know that JQ has a lack of numbers during the 8hr NA timezone.

TC has roleplayers! But we still manage to hold our own pretty well in T1 despite that.

I’m curious as to why you aren’t considering TC…? No other servers are close to strong enough to knock a currentT1 server to T2.

All 3 servers have roamers, but roaming in T1 means you are going to get run over by 20-man+ groups on a fairly regular basis unless you’re built to run away. Even the T1 roamers mostly stick to roaming parties of 3-5 (not all the time, but a lot).

From what I’ve observed (and there are exceptions to each case), BG generally runs 2-3 guild groups, JQ omniblobs each map when they can occasionally splitting into 2 groups, and TC runs with a core of 3-6 guild groups per map with one guild usually taking most of the militia players. …just depends on how you’d prefer to play. I can’t speak for the communities of JQ or BG, but TC’s is pretty cool with the occasional troll that any heavily populated server will have.

Roaming on T1 is extremely boring and disappointing these days. A small scale fight seems to be 1 or 2 players trying their hardest to bait you into a 1v10. It never used to be like that, not in T1. Ive solo roamed there and in most tiers for a long time. These days people can’t handle fighting 1v1, 1v2 or 1v3(even in their favor). Everything is bait and try to get a ridiculously uneven fight in their favor. So, basically, T1 is now full of scrub wannabe roamers who are garbage. The sad thing is I know of some of the ones on Blackgate (Im from BG) and they are really horrible bad players and they have this reputation among BG players as being good but their are facepalm bad. There are some pretty good large scale guild on BG (by NA standards not EU standards), but there are no good roamers…. all you will learn there is how to run from 10 players etc etc yada yada. The same thing seems to be happening on JQ. Its hard to get a 1v1, 1v2 or 1v3 these days.

We do have solo roamers in T1. I solo roam when none of my guild mates are around.. but he is right, you do get run over.. a lot. When I am running solo, I tend to run on my mesmer so I can move around easier and avoid the bigger zergs. Most of the roaming in my experience in T1 NA is done is smaller groups of 2-5. You’ll find many duos and groups of three running around.

I can say, that BG has a lot of roamers. If you want to play with a lot of other roamers.. then BG is your place to be. But if you want to fight other roamers.. JQ or TC would be your best option.

I think we’ve had a pretty good week at the bottom, and I’m not saying that just because ET is leading in points. Both FC and AR have had their moments when they were doing well, too. Bronze is not dead.

IDK why everyone wants to stack on the same few servers, sure there is more action, and loot bags, but your efforts as an individual can go alot further on a smaller server.

On the lesser populated server like Kaineng, one man can make the difference in a 8-10 person zerg vs zerg fight. If you are a commander you can make a huge difference, because at times no one is tagged up. No one cares if you aren’t the best commander either, because a tag is better then no tag. A roamer can go to the enemy borderlands and take out all the camps, spot zergs, tag keeps to waist enemies time, and defend off small zergs with arrow carts and siege disablers from towers and keeps. There is alot of objectives that one man can do, that needs to be done, but often doesn’t get done.

Never go TC!! TC is a JQ proxy server. You will get 2nd class citizenships.

It was way more fun fighting TC. TC and JG have a great relationship and enjoy sparring with each other. If you want fun fights then come to either of the two. If you want to be a type of toxic bully that get’s twisted pleasure out of dominating other human beings, then go to BG.

And this is why people don’t want to go to JQ

If you want solo roaming, stay away from T1. I used to solo roam all the time when TC was a T2 server, I took a break for 7 or 8 months, and when I got back, TC is now solidly T1. Unless you only play in the off hours, which there aren’t a lot of on T1, you’ll constantly get run over by large “roaming” groups and zergs. The only viable solo roaming is on builds made for running away, and the last thing T1 needs is more nike warriors running away at the drop of a hat.

As someone who’s been on Blackgate from the beginning, you’re not going to find a ton of roaming like you’re used to. Roamers will get run over by zergs in T1 (20+ people), it’s just how it is. That’s not to say small groups aren’t important, it’s how camp flips happen (when it’s not a zerg recollecting supply) and bloodlust is kept. But if you rage when the train choo choos over your corpse, stay in a lower tier, for the sake of your blood pressure. Lol

That said, Blackgate doesn’t need more people. Yes, we’re awesome and haters gonna hate. But JQ and TC have nice people who are really good wvwers too, and they could use spunky new blood for a morale boost. When all of T1 comes out to play, everybody has a better time with fights.

BG nearly closed down the WvW forums with QQ, the last time it happened. I don’t think anyone wants to deal with that level of crying again.

Unless you’re an expert in 1v2 1v3, 1v4, you might want to transfer to T2 or stay on your server, if you’re looking to solo roam. I can’t speak for TC since I’m on the server but when I’m facing BG/JQ, I rarely get a good 1v1. A lot of people in T1 don’t solo roam but roam in parties of 3-4. If you don’t mind that, JQ would probably be a better choice than BG. Good luck on your choice though.

You don’t transfer to kitten solo roam. You will NOT be happy if you do that. Solo roamers are very few.

You go to T1 for the large scale fights and 24/7 action.

I think the max BG had was 350, first hour of season 2

Speaking from a purely TC perspective: Outside of WvW seasons, there’s never a queue even in T1.

The only time you see queue times are reset night, and extreme heavy server population peak times. (an hour or two in NA for TC, usually one map).

I doubt it’s any different on JQ or even BG.

I recall one or two maps going into triple digit queues in the first week of Season 2. Season 3 had a terrible turnout by comparison.

I want to know where the myth of queues on T1 keeps getting perpetrated from. It’s bizarre.

Are you even serious? It seems after the tourney many have transferred over to TC from BG and probably JQ.

No. BG just only shows up for tournaments. If another one started tomorrow, they’d be back and the same strength as before.

No queues on Jq and outmanned on every map pretty much always at the moment.

TC is actually winning this week (I know, I’m shocked too!). I can only imagine that BG and JQ are having a “rest week” since the tournament is now over.
