Upcoming - BG/SoR/TC!
This is how I feel about the impending matchup:
did someone say Yak Walk??
PUH-LEEZE tell me that’s not a variant of the elephant walk! oO
On a more substantive note, welcome, TC! You have have big shoes to fill — IoJ kittens are tough fighters — but I expect you’re up to it.
See you on the battlefield!
A note to TC leaders:
If any evidence of questionable behavior such as exploiting or wall jumping occurs, both SoR leaders as well as BG leaders have standing declarations to deal with offenders ASAP.
That is all.
I think you’ll find the majority of TCers don’t tolerate it as well … in our camps or others. Perhaps this is something all three sides can police and deal with quickly?
There won’t be any double teaming from the Oceanic side of BG, I can assure you. We welcome TC with open arms (and hostily!), good luck guys!
It probably wont matter because the Blackgate bandwagon got a lot bigger this week because instead of it being a fairly balanced match, now BG has 24/7 coverage with 75+ zergs in all four BLs.
I don’t know for sure, but it seems like IOJ dropped and BG got stronger … did a bunch of people from IOJ ragequit to BG?
BG got a bunch of Oceanic transfers in when the capacity of all servers was increased.

If we had 75 person zergs in all borderlands, along with 24/7 coverage, we’d blow SoS out of the water. I’d actually love to see where all these people are since we never have any queues except for EBG, even at reset, and during a good portion of the day we don’t have a single point on two of the four maps.
They must be slacking.

Interesting. If the above is true, and TC gets the numbers out to play in t2 matches that they do in t3 matches they may actually be the server with the largest pop (during primetimes at least), or at a minimum at least comparable.

This could be true.
Blackgate has a low NA population and we just try to hold our own in that time slot.
As someone else said we have 24/7 coverage with great oceanic and european guilds but we just have moderate and even coverage around the clock. we don’t really have a huge stack of people at any particular time.
SOR is the NA behemoth in this tier and I think its going to be interesting to see what effect having another NA stacked server will have if any. TC will be hard pressed to pull NA pimetime numbers to match SOR. I say this knowing full well what kind of NA population TC has.
I won’t speak to the entirety of the match because we all know coverage wins points, but I do promise you that we will indeed bring it on reset night.
I look forward to being killed by most of you.
Te Nosce [TC]
If TC really has 4 map queues BG will be outmanned on 2 to 3 maps every night.
At TC, we don’t have 4 queues every night, but it happens, yes. Mostly on resets and in weekends.
Personally, I am afraid that we have a) too many commanders that each do their own thing and b) too many people that don’t do supply runs. But we’ll see what happens in t2, the ranking system is desgned so that we need to loose by alot of points to loose ranking, so it’s hard to say how long we’ll last.

I think you can never have enough good commanders, more often then not for the night crew there are times that there is no commanders on some maps, and it becomes harder for pugs to co-ordinate and attack objectives.
Some commanders just need to remember when to turn off their blue dorito, and when to have it on. Ideally we shouldn’t have only 1 commander on full map, but getting the 100g can hamper that.
But a problem I run into often is that commanders don’t want to split up their zergs to hit multiple targets. We don’t need 30 people hitting one supply camp. Good players can solo supply camps if noone turns up to defend it. 8 people is enough to take an undefended wooden tower, if not a keep. But all attacks should all aim on the same end result, which is hampering a the enemy. No real point having 1 group attack the hyleks while another is hitting mendons.
I do agree we have very few people doing supply runs. We’ll either have a zerg run over and repair it once (sometimes not even to full) and leave again, or have 1 person spending an hour solo-repairing it.
All in all, looking forward to getting smashed in the face with BG’s and Rall’s night crews.
Two very T1 capable servers welcoming TC into the ring. See you on the battlefield boys and girls.

Welcome to T2, Toast.
- You will see superior siege everywhere
- SoR tends to rule NA primetime.
- BG tends to rule Oceanic/Euro.
- SoR excels at logistics and troop movement on a overall scale.
- BG excels at on-the-spot tactics. The first time you seem them drop mass counter-counter siege while assaulting, you’ll cry.

Its kind of funny that you mention this, but twice during NA prime time I have zoned in to WvW with an outmanned buff. Probably the holiday effect, but you guys have actually had more than us at least those two nights / zones.

It’s hard to judge on a holiday week, but this might end up dropping us to T3 in the coming weeks. Our average showing after 12am EST has been around 5-10 people per BL since.

I’m not sure where this notion that TC has queues on all four maps came from. 4 map queues might occur for a bit right after new match-ups start, but that’s about it. I can’t remember the last time I saw a 4 map queue and I play a lot.
TC will have a really hard time in tier 2 if Blackgate doesn’t move up to T1… Theres a 150 rating difference based on http://mos.millenium.org/matchups#NA. That’s the equivalent of TC going against Fort Aspenwood; and you all can see how that went. Good luck.
Seems fine to me. Still get to bloody some noses no matter what. Even if Blackgate runs away with it, all I care about is if the fights are fun. ‘Course I want to win but no matter what, I’m not giving up.

Poor attempt at a trolling post mate. BG still has empty / outmanned maps, even in NA primetime. Yes we did get an influx of OCE guilds, but dont forget we lost some to SoS aswel.
If anything I see less SoR out there fighting than I did just a few weeks ago. Back then we could be sure to face 50+ LUN and the rest of the brazilians as soon as the clock hit 8 their local time. Now we are lucky to face 20 of them twice a week. Since your server is still full and I see you guys in LA overflow, I take it your guys are busy doing pve events.

Indeed… I get outmanned buff a lot of times on IoJ BL and SoR BL. However i get queues on EB and sometimes on BG BL. I just think BG isn’t focused on assaulting enemy borderlands…

Coming from a person who has learned ALOT from my fellow Toasters regarding WvW, I’m looking forward to taking on BG and SoR (I’ll probably get packed in a bowl and smoked, but I’ll have fun nonetheless).
Things I will do:
*Use Tool Kit like a champ
*Use /me laughs, because I’m probably having a great time
*Use /e bow if I win in 1v1(respect, people. That’s what’s up)
*Watch and learn from better players (Listening follows this, of course )
Things I won’t do:
*Exploit or Hack (Why? Because I wouldn’t know how)
*Run in and burn down one guy when there is already a Mob on that one guy.
*Be rude
*Not learn anything from better players
That’s about it!
Respect!

Its how we compete even with lower numbers during primetime, concentrate forces in 1 bl and EBG: if we controll everything in BGBL and EBG we are at +405 which means that even though we dont have the population to match say SOR during NA primetime nor IOJ during oceanic time we can still prevent capping via superior siege material comitments (BG uses more seige).
If we can hold most or all of BGBL and EBG… well… +405 in PP is a winning number.
Strat tends to work and we win the matchup at the end of the week, but weve lost points for the past 5 weeks running in ranking.
Basicly untill they fix and add orbs back into the mix we can keep doin this. Although honestly given how hard they are defended, orbs favor the server with better coverage even more heavily: its no fun for sure for SOR primetime to log on and see BG pushing close to +500 after our euro crew (which is second to none on any NA server including the tier 1 servers) has had the run of the place; now add +500 for BG and all 3 orbs and suddenly the NA matchup becomes favorable to BG.

The last time TC faced BG was such a long time ago and BG went to T1 and then went back to T2 since. So I would expect both servers to look and fight very differently than the last time we met.
The time TC faced SOR was during the Halloween event and that was totally awful. I think the worst part for me was that the TC 2-3 men havoc squads were completely and utterly shutdown because SoR defended everything in a super organized manner at reset. At least 3-4 SoRs on every camp (fully upgraded) and 3-4 escorts per dolyak in the weekend were way more than what TC players were used to. TC did not have decent defense back then and a similar sized zerg vs zerg would see TC being destroyed more often than not.
I can go on lamenting our shortcomings on TC back then for at least another 2 paragraphs, but a lot has changed and I’m excited about going against SoR players again to see where we stand now. I’m a bit annoyed that it’s during the Winterdays event because every server would be affected somewhat and you can’t really judge the strength difference correctly.
I think TC has attracted a lot more W3 oriented players during our stay in tier 3 so hopefully we do better this time around. Also there are the breakout events so at least we shouldn’t get all those whine posts about being spawn camped… LOL.
I actually can’t wait.
It’s been to the point everyone can predict the movement, and actions of the enemy anymore. I welcome TC and can’t wait to fight with y’all again on the field.

TC, actually be useful and fight for first instead of 2nd like IOJ has done for the past 2 months…
No kidding.
Good luck TC, should be a fun matchup.
I’m just excited to see “A Bunch of Roleplayers” in Tier 2. People love to knock them, but in the end nobody has personal investment in their character than that of a roleplayer. I imagine this next week’s matchup will be quite sad and lopsided with the holidays but I hope all 3 of us can stay T2 so we can have a real matchup on the far side of new years.
I look forward to playing against you TC and look forward to seeing you on the field. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and welcome to Tier 2, you guys deserve to be here. /salute

Unless everyone is resting because we’re so far ahead, this isn’t my experience. Nocturnal and ND were pretty much the only largish guilds out in WvW last couple of nights.
We were outmanned in 2 out of 3 Borderlands.

Oh thank god, SOR is dropping to T3, i’m pretty glad i really like the IOJ guys, very cool attitudes.
What? SoR isn’t dropping to T3… IoJ is…
I think you got this backwards
i’m really looking forward to this matchup, and i’m especially looking forward to getting our faces smashed in. like urrid, i’m also serious. when we went against BG and later against SoR, and ended up being completely wiped off the maps for most of the match, we got better for it. we watched, learned and improved out of sheer necessity. we were lean and focused in the matches that followed those. up until the dolyak incident, we were getting pretty complacent and sloppy. we stopped paying attention to the little things that we had no choice but to take care of when we went against BG and SoR.
it seems like our focus has come back a bit since the dolyak incident, but we still have a lot of room for improvement. hopefully, BG and SoR will whip us into shape.
i’m also looking forward to seeing some new strategies thrown at us. we can add them to our arsenal, and spend some time working out a counter to them as well. it should be a very beneficial experience for TC.
We have fought both SOR and BG before but both times under the control of Orbs yes we did get our faces stomped in and we did put up as much of a fight as possible. but in the past 6 weeks we have grown SO much and learned even more. i think this match will be closer then most think. It will be good to get in the ring with BG and SOR.

My prediction is TC gets 2nd, SoR gets 3rd. However, if you think these servers are the same ones you’ve fought nearly 2 months ago, you’re in for the surprise yourself. SoR has evolved over the 5 weeks we’ve played them and tried to make things personal. I personally think it’s their downfall. BG meanwhile has been to T1 and back, and held a big lead in T1 the first week until our numbers dropped due to the Halloween event.
The other bad news is I have a feeling the first week may be determined by who has more activity on Christmas.

As much i hate to admit, i don’t think SoR will lose 2nd… They are tough nuts to crack and unless TC have a far superior coverage than IoJ, SoR will take over TCBL (maybe eventually) since BG focus more in BGBL and EB. And their defense skills are quite impressive.

This might just be my opinion, but the fight against TC and FA a while ago was one of the best ones that BG ever had. To be completely honest, the current match between SoR and IoJ had its moments, but after 5 weeks it’s been getting boring playing the same servers.

SOR has a lot more people playing at night than they like to let on.
I guarantee Gates of Madness, Fort Aspenwood, or any other server who actually doesn’t have a night crew wouldn’t be holding the lead at ~5-8 AM US time on a weekday against BlackGate and IOJ.

Disclaimer: Blackgate is not a bandwagon destination and has not been a bandwagon destination for some time at this point in the game. Bandwagons are a thing of the past. If guilds transfer at this point, it is because they feel a server is better aligned with their interests, not because they think going to that server will let them win. If you think we are pouring over with queues and have absurd numbers around the clock, you would be sorely mistaken. Blackgate does what it does and does it well, that is why we are successful. Yes, we are blessed with outstanding guilds around the clock, but that only tells part of the story. Don’t believe anything you read about massive Blackgate zergs because I think I’d know about them if they existed.

So what I’m getting from this topic is that everyone underestimates themselves, so therefore every server fields giant zergs 24/7 in every map and I should prepare to over-hydrate myself to compensate for the amount of tears I’ll shed this week.
Tears of joy, of sorrow, of pride, of passion, of pain, of courage.
But mostly tears of terror as I watch huge swathes of bodies surge over the landscape and crash into each other. Thousands of players from all three servers are expected to slam into each other in a bloody, sickening mess of limbs, of meat, of blades and of magic. This will be a never-ending sea of flesh and steel. It will ebb and flow throughout the day based off of each individual server’s prime time hours, but otherwise remain an ever-present and ever-demanding demon requiring more bodies be thrown upon its gullet.
In the midst of this horrific scene, players will struggle in fruitless endeavors to capture and retain camps, towers, keeps and castles. Nothing will be sacred and nothing will be under constant control for longer than five minutes. Upgrades will be attempted, but another mass of meat will claim the land before such fortifications can even begin.
Siege will be laid down, and met with counter siege, which in turn will be met by counter counter siege. There will be a never-ending escalation of siege across the shambling sea of corpses and corpses-in-training. Siege caps will be a thing of the past, as each piece of machinery will be destroyed shortly after being created. Nothing will be permanent and nothing will last.
Yes, tears will be shed and bodies will cry out, imploring mercy from the sky. This is what it is like in Tier 2. The prophets posting on these forums have all but proven it to be so. Tarnished Coast, we must take their wisdom to heart and prepare ourselves for what must follow. Armageddon beckons, and we must comply with its wishes.
I shed a single tear for what is to come, for this may be the last tear I shed in comfort.

Complete myth. When guilds leave servers with good fighting to pile on servers in time slots that already have a distinct advantage, that is the very definition of bandwagoning.
Players and guilds that aren’t bandwagoners leave more populated/successful servers to fill spots in other servers for more competitive fighting instead of piling on. That is the difference.
