Yesterday it was almost impossible to place usual siege engines. The only ones they we could build freely were Alpha Siege Golems. Here is how golemparks on Desolation looked after a busy day.

As far as I know, yes, golems do dissapear after inactivity too. I am not sure about the timer though. My guess would be 1-2 hours. Wiki has probably information on this.
Those golems were in use during the day. A crazy sight when they marched together…

Thats a lot of golems :O We didnt have nearly that many down on our server, but we did try to golem rush SM for the fun of it and the defenders in their wisdom decided to build golems to defend the lords room. Was somewhat amusing but hey, why not!
