Was this a Hacker?
You realize he may have had a queue for a BL pop or he rage quit. Which is exactly what this sounds like.
I ran into him coming out of spawn not even 5 min later.
I dunno..never heard of a hack like this, if that’s what it was. It sounds logical that he Alt+F4’d and came back to the BL.
Alt+f4/ragequit gives ya loot/xp..
Dunno about borderland swap thou
You have no evidence it was a hack. He could have map hopped then come back. Lord knows there are some legitimate hackers out there that need to be taken care of. The problem is that they get flooded with false reports from trolls, false reports from folks who do not understand how something could occur. Perhaps he was hacking, but there are legitimate ways he could have not been. It doesn’t help that you chose to publicly suggest the guild has hackers with no evedence. I have seen multiple players report someone as a speed hacker, when they were simply rubber banding due to lag.
it is not a matter of whether or not Anet does anything about. It is a matter of whether or not they are certain so.eone hacked.

I ran into them again and invited them to a party. So I know the character name.
I asked “so how did you disappear when I downed you on my ranger”

Smug because he didn’t tell an enemy who is stalking him, what that enemy wanted to here? You need less salt in your diet.

You getting awfully defensive of this guy. It’s not like it was you. He didn’t alt+f4 nor did he swap maps or else I wouldn’t have ran into him coming out of spawn so soon. His smart kitten reply is precisely what the kind of punk kid running a hack would say. I have no evidence that it was a hack? You have no evidence it wasn’t. So unless someone can explain to me how they pulled it off, I’ll call them out for using one.

Rage quits give loot, XP and WXP. A quick look at your combat log and you can tell whether it’s a rage quit.
Defensive for that guy? Not really. I am against the accusation with no evidence. Simple as that.
I recall having a newer player in my guild. I was pinned up in wvw. We had taken down a door and we’re in a keep with heavy resistance. We had control of the circle. He got pulled down the stairs and trounced. As someone went to spike him, we flipped the keep. Subsequently he got the XP needed to go from 79 to 80. He popped up and we moved down to trounce the other guys. That engineer that pulled him was accusing him of using a hack. I know this because the opposing commander sent me a tell when that guy was accusing him of hacking in their map chat and asking others to join him in reporting the purple ranger sylvari of hacking.

Yes, there was an explanation. He leveled at an opportune time.
Again, if someone can explain how, I’m all ears. Until then….
Is that trick about still where you use a tome of knowledge to lvl up while in down state to get back up again? if that still not fixed.
Also had this happen to me as well. You can not wp/change map/or q pop while in combat at will, you just can’t. Another guy said on this forum that people are able to “leave the mists via wvv window” , not sure if this also works while in combat. Unless your barrage killed him then there is some kind of bug/hack that denys a “loss”
Also lvl up hurts can crit too (I know) so you are still in combat.

You can absolutely map. You have the duration of the timer, once a queue pops, to map swap.
There is also a bug in which ALT + F4 will sometimes not trigger that you got a kill.
It is also known to be a fact that if you have a lag spike when the servers go to register your kill, it will not ping to you, thus no loot or anything to show you, on your end that you got a kill.
Those are just 3 reason that I, personally, can think of off of the top of my head. But sure, accusing a guild of having hackers is the much more intelligent way to go.
For all we know, you were kicked out of a guild, and your trying to make them look bad. Not saying it is true, just saying someone can offer as much evidence as you have, to make that accusation.
I have seen lag spikes that cause skipping or rubber banding on get reported falsely as hacking. A lot. Ever had everything seem fine on your screen, only to have your buddies in TS or Mumble tell you your skipping around? I have ben recording many times when guildies or friends were lagging out and skipping around, and it looked precisely like videos of those posted on the forums of players accused of hacking.
You have multiple tools to report it. Devs you can message here. Yet, you oddly chose to make an accusation thread, with no real evidence, wile attacking posters who don’t immediately jump on your side of the accusation witch hunt?
This is also a known problem that others are using to avoid being stomped.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/How-to-avoid-being-stomped-Fix-plz
But your probably right OP, he was definitely using an advanced hacking program over a simple one button click that was left in, in error in a recent patch.
If I were you, I would definitely adhere to your current route of bashing others who thought it wise to advise you not to jump to conclusions.

Burden of Proof lies with the person making the claim, not those disbelieving the claim.
For example, if I claim to have seen Bigfoot and want to be taken seriously, it would be up to me to provide verifiable evidence, not the people sceptical of my claim.

I am not saying the person wasn’t using a hack; I’m saying that your suggestion that your allegation is credible because it can’t be disproven is fallacious.
OP’s got dat medieval witchburning mentality I see lol. You make accusation, you have to prove it. Imagine if someone blamed you for hacking and wanted you insta-banned even though you weren’t, feels pretty bad right?
OP’s got dat medieval witchburning mentality I see lol. You make accusation, you have to prove it. …
You’re not allowed to prove it on the forum, and you can get banned for it. I have seen several players from a guild with the same acronym go through the floor, and walls. Usually mesmers and thieves…often asuran race. I have screenshots, and I know of several people who have screenshots and videos.
Guids can have the same tag. On my server there are at least 2+ WAR guilds. Post the guild tag is useless.
Just made a thread yesterday on what this person did whole stealthed so you didn’t get credit for the kill.

He went to his wvw tab and clicked on “leave the mists”
I’ve given what I’ve observed and outlined the situation. I’m all for an explanation that fits within the situation and what was observed. My proof that it was a hack is the fact that there is no other explanation left.
I found out from a source that HoD did not have any of the maps queued up at the time as having the queue pop would be the only way to swap maps while in combat.
Thank you Tricare for the link. If clicking on “leave the mists” allows you to do so while in combat and avoid being killed than this is obviously a bug.
@xDudisx I’m only aware of two. One uses capital letters for all three letters (which is the one I’m talking about) and the other uses a capital letter for only the first letter.
I am curious how you state In one paragraph the word proof when what you actually have is defined as a speculative accusation. At best a video of this could be called evidence. Three very distinctive terms. Then turn around an aknowledge a known bug that does precisely this function. Wouldn’t it seem more likely they exploited a bug? How do you declare proof with only a story and having presented no evidence?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
‘No other explanation left’ is not a fact, it’s a conclusion made with limited information.
To call anything proof you need a lot more information, and then verify it.
You had a hunch it was a hack. It could have been. It’s just as likely it wasn’t, as Tricare’s post showed. Tricare could be mistaken, but he’s got a lot of experience in this game so I tend to give more credit to his observations in this matter.
You don’t need to claim things are ‘proof’ or ‘factual’ if you don’t actually have all the information.
Is it possible he had the trait “Hard to Catch” – which shadowsteps 600 units away when you are disabled, even if you are downed? If so, the shadowstep for that trait ignores barriers and boundaries, including teleporting you a “floor” (ledge nearby, etc) up, as well as downwards or through the walls of a building.
-Sorrow’s Furnace-
It’s quite simple.
-We were just NE of the SW tower in an open area. Nothing within 600 units away for him to teleport to. I didn’t cc him anyway.
-He did not use SR.
-He only has attack, teleport, stealth, and heal for down state skills. The stealth skill would stealth him for 4 sec (traited).
He was downed with nothing to do but to delay the inevitable (which is pretty much all the thief downed skills are good for along with most of the classes downed skills). The only possible solution as to how was identified (although I have not tested it myself). Leaving the mist before the stomp. I didn’t get the stomp off and, in the time it took me to run to where there spawn is (SW corner of the BL), he was coming out. Sounds like enough time to pass through two loading screens (one leaving and one coming) and then run out from the portals.
Although I should’ve expected as much. After all, I got the same BS replies in another thread where I literally chased a guy into a closed tower gate. As in, he no-clipped right through it while I got stopped cold by it.
“Hacks in my beloved game? Blasphemy, you were clearly imagining what you saw. You have no proof, therefore you are wrong.”
Hate to burst your precious little bubble but hacks/cheats do exist for this game. I bought this game a few months (3?) after release and have spent ~75% of my game time since then in WvW. I’ve literally have seen players fly, yes fly. Pass through walls and gates, and teleport (not use a skill but actually teleport). In fact there was a hack that allowed the user to click on their screen and teleport their character there. Meaning if you can see the top of a wall, you could teleport onto the wall.
There are also bugs which players will exploit to their advantage.
You are misrepresenting the argument. I specifically stated that it could have been a hack. The issue is with you attempting to call people out without providing verifiable proof.
Less emotion and more logic would be beneficial in discussions like these. If you took a similar tone in previous threads you undermine your own credibility, leading to people disregarding your actual message.
more logic would be beneficial in discussions
I’d suggest a re-read of the thread. It starting with a logical conclusion. It was the replies that threw the logic to the wind.
I been seeing this a lot too…
My theory is, they go below the map… Using a skill that locks onto target (rapid fire) will cause you to start shooting at your feet or behind you on the ground or from what I have seen anyway
….. And Elementalist.

As their were 7 more likely possibilities, that were known, easier, and les like to be flagged by the automated system, I believe you are incorrect. It seems to me to be glaringly clear that you jumped to a conclusion, and refuse to budge off of it against the push of reason.
You lost your ‘reason" argument when you claimed your “presumption” as *proof*> You didn’t even offer evidence yet claimed proof. That is what is commonly known as being dishonest.

Wierd, I saw something like this happen a few days ago, but with a warrior. I fought him, downed him underwater, and suddenly he vanished. No loot or EXP, or anything.
Someone mentioned they might have left for another map. Would opening the WvW tab and jumping to EOTM/different BL still grant exp and loot?
Well if you are in a certain map and you enter wvw, and you alt+f4 when you are in a downed state, when you re-log in you will be in a downed state and not dead. Your enemy will also be denied loot and wxp.
Also, you dont even have to alt+f4. You just just hit escape, click character selection, and log back on with your toon without even having to reload and re-login your game.
Furthermore, if you are running your game off a Solid State Drive this can literally be done in seconds. I know this because my OS and my game run off a Solid State Drive.
I tested this and reported it about 2 months ago but it still hasn’t been fixed.
@OP I am willing to bet the thief you fought simply did this when he was down and in stealth. He probably runs his game on a Solid State Drive so it would only take a matter of seconds for him to quit and relogin to his spawn. I highly doubt he hacked.

Only if you are queued up already and it happens to pop. Otherwise you can’t just open the WvW and click to switch BL. I haven’t tried the leave button, nor have I tried to enter EotM however I think the second is unlikely since I have tried to go into OS when a skale attacked me and it wouldn’t let me.
It’s good to see others coming forth. Some players knee-jerk dismissal (denial) paired with ANet’s lack of transparency on the matter only fans the flame and encourages the use of exploits/hacks.
Ran some tests. While in combat you can not switch BL nor can you go to EotM or OS. You can click to leave and it’ll let you returning you to whichever PvE map (or sPvP) you entered WvW from in the same state you left WvW in.
If you alt-f4, use the menu to return to character selection, or have the game dc/crash, you log back in dead with the need to repair indicating you were defeated (not suicide) and credit is given by those who got the tag on you. This has been tested and confirmed.
HoD didn’t have any of the WvW maps queued at the time (confirmed by a reliable source).
This leaves just two options since all other possibilities have been exhausted.
Exploit or hack.
Using the leave option, while possible, is an obvious oversight (design flaw) that was not intended to be used by people about to lose a fight to get out of losing. It’s something that is being used just for that matter. I’m willing to bet we’ll see a fix for this in the future.

Clearly you have never been in Family Court, preponderance of evidence is what decides there the burden of proof is on the respondent, not the petitioner in those court rooms.
Given the evidence there have been three plausible reasons he was able to get away. However, if that is the fact then the person has no honor, skill, class, character, or sense of sportsmanship. So regardless of a hack or not they are still pretty much a coward and a cheater.

In 1 post you admit you saw him come out of spawn in approx the time it’d take him to leave/re-enter wvw, then you go on some emo rant about people not going with your hack idea. wth is wrong with you?
The fact that the game has hackers doesn’t make every single unexplained situation a hack case.
I think I figured it out—-if you hit b, to bring up the WvW menu when downed, then click “Leave the Mists” you will go back to your PvE map, dead, but——when you revive to a WP, you dont have a shield indicating a need of repair, so it would seem that death you take is like a fall outside of combat. And I would imagine that if your attacker wasnt fast enough to drain your life or stomp you, they dont get XP or loot.
I’ve literally have seen players fly, yes fly.
That was superman.
