Hi I would like to see more gold reward for players in WvW

eg scale the currency loot on the level of upgrades a tower or keep has, so if you take a fully upgrade keep you get gold as sometimes it can take hours to take.

eg defender currency rewards should be given if you defend a tower or keep and scale to how many upgrades it has.

This would change the gameplay as you would get more people defending to hold what you have and better tactics to take what you want. Them gate tappers would have to think hard about giving free rewards just to tap a gate .

Finally at the end of the week on reset there should be currency rewards for placement in that week 1st 2nd 3nd for the amount of towers and keeps you have taken or held in your time at WvW

just some ideas because I am broke upgrading them towers and keep

Just removing the gold cost from the upgrades would do a good bit for the economy of those that upgrade the most (scouts and defenders etc). Or might even make it some other cost, like Badges or who knows what.

We don’t need more gold rewards in wvw. Pve needs less gold rewards. Aside from the old dungeons the new content is mostly focusing in giving materials/bags. That is better because if you go sell materials/bags in TP you are helping to drain gold out of the economy via TP tax. Getting straight up gold is the opposive, it injects more gold instead of sinking.

Just let us salvage our armors! You can do it with dungeons tokens, why not with badges! And while we’re at it, why does EotM gets so much of these. I do like EotM, which is imo one of the best-looking map in the game, and I love that you can kill people there. But it tore my heart apart to see that the armor I got by playing WvW on my first character from lvl 30 to 80 on Eternal Battlegroung, spending mountains of gold on armor repair (yup, that was still a thing, it was early 2014), and getting to know my commanders, how to fight properly, when to build siege and when to abandon a tower, this glorious armor I bought when I just turned 80 was now obtainable by any PvE grinder in less than a day!

I think they are still to worried about defense being too bot-friendly to really make defense truly rewarding. I can only guess that by rewarding they are going to give some sort of scoring adjustment for defense to make it more valuable to defend vs just taking it back later.

Pets have been hidden due to rising Player complaints.

I dont think the reward the defenders are a good idea. It pays for afking. Wvw needs more rewards for actual fights not for siting in a t3 tower and puting down 6328 sieges.
Btw i like the lootbag and badge rewards but pls let us buy something useful for badges.

They could drastically increase WvW experience and magic find around a keep you own for a very long time. That could be an incentive.

When I was leveling in EOTM someone said the daily dungeon gives you like 45g after you sell everything and such. I was very flabbergasted if that number is true. All I could think was, I am playing the wrong parts of the game. Even if that number is closer to 4.5g, it would still be more than I normally get in WvW or EOTM in a single play session. So yeah, I think we might need better rewards.

Um, sorry let me clarify some. The real problem i guess lies in Hamster’s Premise. The total amount of gold spent on upgrades is minute. It hasn’t scaled with the economy. It was a decent gold sink early game but now they are minor.

While they might be minor you have to keep in mind that it adds up with every single server, and have to be redone multiple times per day in many cases. So in the end while the sink per person per upgrade is rather low, it does end up being a rather large sink all in all.

Removing it WILL effect the economy quite a bit though, seeing as you would still generate the money out of nothing while playing WvW. So either they would have to also lower/remove the money gained in WvW or they would have to add another gold-sink.

Can you pls define what you think as “general WvWing”?
‘Cos the only thing which makes money is killing a lot of enemies and/or killing tower/keeplords (champ bag).
Then there are Roamers, Scouts, Dolly-escorters, Siege-builders.. Can’t we just have more rewards for everyone who helps the server? (PPT win means coverage anyway, but still…)
Even Roaming is not profitable due to foods/secondary foods, which costs more than what you earn on the long run. (If you don’t buy the best one, then maybe you can get some profit, but it’s still nowhere near pve/spvp. Hell, I got more ascended trinkets from spvp than from wvw, and I played like 30x more wvw than spvp… And they don’t even need it/can’t use it!)
And just for your information: The ppl who makes the most money from wvw are not “using” the wvw-gold sinks, as they’re not commanders, not scouts, not siege-builders… They’re the ones who follow the commander ’til he get rewards then disappear when suddenly no rewards..

General WvWing such as a combination of zerging, roaming and defending, depending on the situation.

I am fully aware that the people that gain most from WvW usually don’t use the gold sinks, but that doesn’t change the fact that there will be more gold put into the system that is not taken away if the gold-sink is removed.

Another thing to keep in mind is that much of the money spent on food doesn’t actually go away, but rather just switches hands. While it is indeed a gold-sink in using the TP, the majority of the money keeps on existing, just in another users pocket.

Another thing to keep in mind is that much of the money spent on food doesn’t actually go away, but rather just switches hands. While it is indeed a gold-sink in using the TP, the majority of the money keeps on existing, just in another users pocket.

So wvw players are paying the pve players (I think most crafted things are from pve players, who can farm the materials in pve for it), ’cos the rewards in wvw are so good. Make sense, yup. And btw some of that money disappears, as TP tax

Well, we can just take away ~10s (randomnumber) from every dungeon reward and give ~30s (randomnumber) to every wvw reward. I believe it would still lower the overall gold flowing into the market, but wvw players would make more (while pve players would almost not even see the difference.)
Too bad that it would not solve the problem, as the ppl who needs the gold are not the ones getting the rewards.. That’s why you should get something for defending/playing, which can be used for defending/playing!

WvW players are in need of more gold, ‘cos everything we do costs money. It’s not true for pve (well, ofc there are some instances where food/secondary food is needed the same way as in WvW, but most pve content is just fine without it.)

To let trolls think about the costs of trolling or do you want merchants in every wood-keep or hired in the middle of a siege as someone needs to repair his armor?

No costs are bad. Only costs isn’t very good. Costs as investment for possible later rewards would be best.

I play squishy mesmer and it cannot go and tag every in the enemy zerg. Need to play from some distance. Most of the time I don’t get lord chests because apparently the chest is damage based – mesmer is very weak for fast damage: crit hits of 300 are real, compared to 3,500 of ranger’s long shot.

This is a topic to itself. Upgrades should be much cheaper, or better yet, a WvW-only currency (could be Badges of Honor). At the moment, many people don’t/can’t do upgrades because they have no gold.

The saddest part is that when you need upgrades the most (when you are being dominated by a blob and you have no commander or coordination), nobody buys upgrades because they know the upgrades won’t last.

Nobody at Anet loves WvW like Grouch loved PvP. That’s what we need, a WvW Grouch, but taller.

That’s a L2P issue.
300 crits are against a 3.6k armor guardian with protection from your condition build?
(I believe Staff can produce those numbers, but it’s a condition weapon, so..)

Even my tankish 2.5k armor mesmer-setup can do enough dmg for lord/get bagz during fight, not so many as a Taggomancer or a Taguardian, but with proper build, you can tag.. You’ll not do much to help, but will tag enemies
(And not like you as a mesmer can do much besides cp-team and veil/portal.. )

Gold in WvW(excluding Edge of the pve bots) is basically nonexistent now. In 2012/2013, if you had a zergbusting guild, you could farm so many bags, unidentified dyes and other loot because of the massive amount of people in WvW and unorganised map blobs. Now, however, the population is at an all-time low and the loot sucks big time.

Of course there are people that don’t play WvW for the rewards(including myself), but those people are definitely the minority.

Curious, if we actually did get similar rewards to EotM in ordinary WvW, what would actually happen ? I know a lot of people think it will turn into EotM, but we already have that, and people will still be fighting and defending in normal WvW, so it would be much harder to K-Train than EotM.

It is actually quite simple and has been suggested multiple times in this form or another: A biweekly or monthly reward track that requires you to do specific tasks. These tasks vary from player to player so we dont have a PVE zerg doing the same thing all the time. This reward track gives you gold, karma, crafting materials, WvW claim tickets for new weapon skins, titles for the more difficult tasks etc.

You get one month of time for finishing it and there aren’t too many tasks so it doesn’t feel like a chore. It should be a byproduct while enjoying the pvp aspect of WvW.

They could just up the daily rewards or a special daily for just WvW that includes things an average WvW player would do, like buy upgrades, place and refresh siege, recapture camps, kill dollies, kill players, defend, using a specific types of siege to defend, etc. When you complete a set amount of the list, you get a very good reward. Though they shouldn’t use the term daily because people will expect laurels and achievement points. This should be more like a… Call to Arms, and should give rewards similar to a world boss or completing a single dungeon. WIth the addition of some siege thrown in.

Another option is to make SM and borderland garrisons (that aren’t your own borderland) give world boss style loot once a day.

Edit: You know a reward track with the above tasks would be better. Also since you asked what rewards, why not a WvW specific skins? And I mean more fancy or sparkly stuff.. maybe similar to the mist weapons.

If you want more gold:

  • I do not see the reason why WEXP-lvlup boxes are worser than PvP-Boss Boxes. Earning a WEXP lvl usually require more than looking up a timer, porting to the map, press 1, wait till the box appears, and this gives a guaranteed rare per account/boss/day. Why not a guaranteed rare in every WEXp-lvlup box, maybe limited to 10 per day/account and for lvlups in WvW (not EotM where WEXP is earned much much faster) only, maybe only for every even lvlup.
  • WEXP-Lvlups above can be invested in points on the PvP-reward track (or something equivalent) instead of WEXP-skills, especially interesting for those above 1390.
  • achievements, I still like this achievement proposal best: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/WvW-achievements-without-Season/4077952
  • Earnings from holding/scouting an objective after spending money for it’s improvement: Only guilds that claimed an objective can upgrade it. If they do not have an upgrade running for more than 5 min (without defense event or 5min without buf, if fully upgraded) it’s automatically unclaimed and the next guild can claim it. Upgrades are payed from guild bank money.
    - taking 10 sups out cost 1 copper credited to the guild bank
    - a port to it’s WP cost 1 copper credited to the guild bank
    - repairing with an NPC inside cost 1 copper credited to the guild bank
    - trading with an NPC inside cost 0.1% (1 copper per 10silver) extra (at least 1 copper per visit with at least 1 trade)
    would make the claiming guild be interested in defending or at least scouting the claimed objective as they would loose their investment, if they don’t.

Same tracks as in sPvP would be fine, too.. maybe switch the Glorious Armor for Superior Siege Track, as don’t think we’ll get a new armor.
Make the hot-join restriction (only 2 rewards/day) work in eotm, and it’s a nice rewarding system.
But it would not give enough rewards for scouts, I just can’t think anything already in system to use, only new things which need more time to implement/test.

GW2 needs a call out system similar to other games where you can mark the map with a little icon that indicates the approximate size of the group. In short when you scout and see some players you can hit your “call out” button which tells everyone “ZOMG there are 5-10 players at hills” no need to type or scream over chattering people in TS. If they give us that system, then scouts would have an easier time, and it would make scouts a lot more dangerous. It may end up becoming a job more suited to perma stealth thieves and mesmers or classes that move very quickly to run in and out of call out range.

WvW only players are probably the poorest players around, so yes increased gold and/or loot in any way is a good thing for us; how they do it doesnt matter, I just want my time spent in WvW to be as profitable as the same amount of time spent in PvE events.

The problem mainly is that the same currency is used in two entirely different game modes, with one game mode having an abundant access to it (PvE), while the other game mode (WvW) has not..

And as long as WvW players have to use PvE gold for their WvW stuff, they’ll feel very poor..

(as already suggested) Just use Badges of Honour for every single thing that you can buy/upgrade/whatever in WvW?

Silverwastes has its bandit crests as currency, how hard can it be to just remove gold from WvW and replace by Badges?

I’m really struggling to think of one which applies to PvE which doesn’t also apply to WvW. Waypoint costs? Anything related to TP/MF/Gear applies just as much to WvW. There’s that Crown Pavilion thing, but that’s pretty specific.

Aye, waypoints. Which, while they are not much per use it does end up being a rather large amount of gold completely removed from the game over the course of a day. There are no WP-costs in WvW.

There is also these PvE-specific events. The most recent had a rather large gold-sink (around 12s per use).

That’s already in place, I remember a dev even saying that there is a timer set on players before they drop loot i beleive.

not for siting in a t3 tower and puting down 6328 sieges.

Yet this is the important role some people play. Myself and many many others, spend most of our time in WvW scouting/upgrading/escorting our cows/building seige etc. Add to that the fact that the time I spend in Gw2 is 99.9% WvW and not PvE, I actually make a loss playing. I suppliment my income by converting gems, e.g. real money.

I ran with the zerg for a couple of hours last night for the first time in weeks and realised I had totally forgotten how quicker you gain WvW levels/loot/badges compared to the scouting/defending playstyle.

So Im hoping with Anets comment about trying to make defending keeps more attractive, that they also add sometime for the lone scout type playstyle to help us have some sort of income. As to suggestions, I really dont know how it could be done while avoiding “abuse”/afk etc.

One other thing I’d love is extention of the mastery system so you would have the option to grow more into a scout/defender/attacker type role (e.g. escorting gives dollys a slight increase in speed etc).

This whole issue would be gone if Anet would let us upgrade with Badges of Honor. I’ve legit got about 15k of them lying around.

And then there would suddenly be loads of gold created in WvW with no sink whatsoever and thus the inflation would totally crash the market.

You really think that’s going to matter with the amount of gold they are pumping into pve.. (dungeons, silverwastes, the list gets longer with every update it seems). Upgrade costs hardly makes a difference to the economy as a whole with how much gold they are fine with pumping into pve but it makes a big difference on the individual wvw players bank accounts.

Yes, and no. If better rewards draw in more players, they will draw in more players on every server so that the population imbalance would probably not change a lot.

I can understand not wanting to cause inflation, but it’s silly to worry about that when WvW doesn’t even turn a profit. It’s fair to say a profit may be too big…but how can one argue against a profit that isn’t there?

Increasing how much profit is rewarded in WvW would definitely bring allot more people into the game mode.

I’m on IOJ.

At launch we were up there with the top servers in WvW. But we also had allot of players that never went to WvW but just came on the servers for the server wide buff.

When asked to help out they would often laugh and say what for I can get much better rewards for doing this or that.

Now we struggle to get 15 people on a each map, if that much. Everyone has given up hope of them fixing the number balance issues in WvW (or any number of other issues) so they quit or payed for a server transfer.

Instituting some type of reward track (similar to Spvp & even Spvp daily quests, albeit on a larger requirement) could do allot to bring people into WvW.

As opposed to the loot train in SW creating 50-60 loot boxes, gold, mats, etc per hour? where’s the sink there?

Maybe if some gold was available in wvw it wouldn’t be the dust bowl it is now….
