I cant seem to play anything other than my Ele. When I try another class I just get bored extremely fast and quit because nothing seems to be as involving. Pretty much every other class seems to be just spam the same 3 skills over and over again till you fall asleep. I always keep going back to my main because the constant attunement dancing means I use 3x the skills as every other class. Im always mashing something different which is fun.

Im looking for something different when I dont feel like running with a raid force. Would like to try maybe soloing, scouting for the main zerg, or running with a Havoc Group. I refuse to play thief. Thinking about maybe Engineer or Mesmer.

Try engineer and use weapon kits, I think you’ll find the experience similar to swapping attunements. Also, engineer is a pretty good roaming class once you get practiced at playing it, so I think you’ll find it enjoyable, I know I do.

can engineers wear stuff other than hobo sacks?

You’ll be surprised, though soloing as a Staff ele is remarkable and I daresay very fun.
If you do try engineer, don’t go for the mainstream builds, but try something you like. I made the mistake to just copy a ‘pro’ build, which ruined all the fun of the class for me the first time.

this comment shows the difference between pvp and wvw for sure. In pvp, engi is considered the easiest class to play. In WvW, i would agree that it is one of the harder classes to play.

Engineer is a very fun class, mesmers are good in havoc.

If you do not want to play a thief, you can always try out rangers. They are similar to eles in some ways, yet completely different. Ive gone from playing ranger to leveling my ele, and i can tell you that the two is highly similar in defensive play.
Just a word of advice though, if you decide to roll a condi bunker skill on a ranger, you will be incredibly sad when you switch back to ele (knowing you can never pull it off with any ele build)

If you enjoy your ele so much you should stick to it and find a dedicated WvW guild that run in groups of 15-20, having a decent ele is a rare catch

I agree with the above. Stick with what you enjoy ( : If you choose to make another character by all means do so, but if you enjoy Ele I see no reason to change. Practice, practice, practice and you’ll just love it more over time.

I have never seen a successful solo 1v1 staff ele unless you count rabbits or lvl 5 players.

yea I love the Ele but just want something to mess around with when I dont feel like big fights. Probably going Mesmer. Been playing one in sPvP and its a lot of fun.

necro says hi!
they are great for roaming solo and in small groups. necros are a genuinely fun class to play and do require quite a bit of skill to play (see: no stability, no escape).

as a necro i would advise against an ele for roaming, as im sure you know, they are like paper.

as the above/you have said, play what you like and youll have fun
