Hi all,

I started on JQ at launch. Played GW2 for about a month before moving onto other games. I got a bit fed up with the queue times for WvW on JQ so I switched to FA probably a week before I left the game.

Now that I have returned they seemed to have upped populations caps and/or less are queueing for WvW. I am looking to return to a T1 server because of the good covergage it provides.

I sometimes play NA primetime, which I think all T1 servers have covered. I also play NA mornings and afternoons sometimes. I think this is where FA and other non-T1 servers are a bit weak. There is often one or 0 commanders on a map during this time period.

I know JQ has the best overall coverage, by them winning weekly, but how are the other servers fairing? I wouldn’t want to join SoR/BG and find it is 100 vs 5. I also like stability. The falling of SoS, NS, HoD, etc. is just terrible.

I know JQ seems like the clear cut winner (and may be) but the fact that JQ is so strong gives me pause onto maybe for the spirit of competition it would be better to join a different server, if the server is competitive in taking/defending against JQ.

How much time have you given T2 to sample? I can assure you that there is PLENTY of action in this Tier. Are you in a WvW Guild?

The difference between Jq, bg and sor is FOO from Jq and the rest of their SEA crew. So you will get a good fight whichever of the three you go to. In terms of stability… Jq and sor would be the two to choose from.

Yeah, come to TC, you will have plenty of WWW actions 24/7!

TC is a server where more than half the people on a WWW map are not in a WWW guild where most commanders are not elitists with their snobby ‘I only command my guild’ or ‘I only command with voice’ attitude, I’m sure you’ll love it here!

In non-NA time, commanders from TC tend to hop maps: there will always be a commander active somewhere!

A lot of people are defending or inviting me to their T2 server. I didn’t mean my post to come off as FA or T2 “sucks” – because that is far far from the truth. It is really a great server and I may end up staying. Depending how much more coverage T1 has.

I guess my main question is how do the T1 servers stack up for SEA/EU primetime play? What are queue times like during NA primetime? I don’t really care about the overall winning server. I don’t care about PPT when I play. I do care about being in a good group and controlling the map I’m on during my play sessions.

Slightly unrelated note – I know JQ is rated #1 but during NA primetime, SoR seems to be topdog. I’m slightly partial to JQ because I started there but overall strength (with equal numbers) I think SoR has it covered. What concerns me about SoR is meeting JQ head on during non-NA primetime and it being 300 vs 100. I also missed a lot of the WvW drama of guild movings and don’t understand why/how SoR is #2 now and it concerns me slightly that guilds might jump the ship to another “FOTM” server.

Queues are still as bad as ever.

why xfer to T1? Why not go to a server where you can make a differenc…. like idk Dragonbrand …. lol

Personally I advise taking a bit of time, follow the T1 -T3 threads, watch the MOS site for your play times, and maybe talk to some folks on each of the servers in the time period that most interests you.

These threads just attract sharks.

Pretty sure either Quarry, or BG has the most players in this play time.

We have a grp of SEA guys who play though if you wanna hop in the community TS and run with them, they are really fun to be around

I may be incorrectly under the impression that during most hours T2 would have a decent (20-30 man group or two) on EB and one or two BL’s. Maybe this does not even exist on T1. I really don’t know as it’s been months since I played T1 (and I dont see many streaming on T1 NA in the NA morning).

I have no desire to flip to TC who has better coverage than FA but I’m sure does a lot PvD. I’m pretty sure TC will win T2 for quite a while but I’m not considering switching because FA is in 2nd. I like FA for T2 and would stay over going to TC or KN.

Come to RE, our top Commander (Ethersin) wipes bigger zergs 9 out of 10 times, most of TC and FA can attest to this. What youre looking for is a strong WvW guild I can see that, if this is accurate than not only come to KN, but join RE, everyday is a scheduled guild event and scheduled but optional WvW, we have our PvE too. Almost 500 members but only 50-90 WvW daily from 4PM PST . We have our daytime crews but our scheduled WvW time frame is 4PM PST.

Fizz, one correction. There is no TC pvdoor or any server in T2 now that WM seems to have left KN.
There is pretty decent competition across all of the time zones now where it wasn’t so much before.

Based on the description you laid out on what you are looking for, T1 aside.I would stick to my post above as a guideline.

Im on bg myself and am very happy with their community. However any t1 server would be stable… and I really wouldn’t overlook the t2 servers. They are super fun to play against!

In regards to sea/oceanic. …… sor and bg both have players on. But it’s more of a struggle. But still some awesome times. I play in this time and to be honest. … I like it better then earlier in the day. Pretty much no queue. And a few solid forces roaming around (merc and nd). Not sure for sor guilds

Almost no one here is even answering the OP. It’s just KN and TC trying to steal a guy from FA. Good job guys.

Fizz – you’ll get 24/7 on probably any of the T1’s. You’ll also get queues. It’s part of the coverage formula. JQ has best coverage. SoR recently got a large influx of SEA guilds. I think BG is more EU-oriented, but that’s a pretty uneducated guess on BG.

If you stay on FA, I’d recommend using TS if you don’t already. We have a few SEA guilds and other N/A players that log on during the morning hours (relative to N/A time) I’d direct you to the website as well, if you aren’t using it, but it’s currently having some technical issues. PM me if you want TS info/password.

Glad to see you are going to stick it out in FA for a while longer. It’ll definitely help you if you do decide to move.

As for NA off hours (approx. 8am-3pm EST), if you are playing NA mornings look out for Fallen Deaf Ears and his DPS guild. I highly recommend running with them one morning, some of the best TS3 conversations and fun in game to be had. Another to look out for during that time would be Berliya Berret (I know I spelled that wrong but it’s close), who often runs SEA primetime as well.

FA is usually outnumbered during that time so running with them makes it a laid back environment that doesn’t take the score too seriously, we’re just out to have fun honestly. It also means we are usually hopping maps to defend and inflict as much damage as possible, so our commanders might just be on a different map at the moment.

Like has been said before check out our Teamspeak server during that time and you should be able to find a good group to run with. If you need the info just pm me or any other person from FA here.

SOR is definitely not a FOTM server, it took us a long time to build up our community to get from rank 17 to rank 2. Our server went through 11 straight weeks of being beaten down by Blackgate in tier 2 and we came out stronger….. stronger than Blackgate even.

BG and SOR have enough organized SEA prime players to crush any other server other than JQ.

SOR has a havoc type guild during SEA (AFS) and more direct assault guilds like (NYS) and (SAHP). But dont kid yourself….. whether you join BG or SOR, you will face overwhelming numbers from JQ.

I would probably recommend SoR for the average zerg player. SoR’s zergs are generally larger than BG’s and comparable to JQ’s. They are very organized as well, if you like that sort of game play. If you like small skirmishes, BG has a lot of small groups to fight against. However, SoR lacks a lot of small skirmish groups to play with, so you would kind of be on your own unless you joined a guild like CD.

No real drama or FOTM at SoR. The community was built slowly and deliberately by like minded guilds that refuse to give up and always come out swinging. In fact, we did our best to discourage people moving to us on a bandwagon and instead, seeked out guild that fit our philosophy.

Ignore this post. He runs strictly havoc and anything more than 10 people is a zerg to him. Since he runs havoc, he is not around the massive zergs put together by his own server and has a bit of a warped perception.

BG is only at T1 because SoS BADwagon couldn’t stand JQ winning over them (even tho SoS won for many, many weeks) and jumped the ship to BG.
JQ always been on T1 but it became a powerhouse when the end of free transfers hit in and everyone jumped right into it.

If you really want to be part of any of those bandwagons, I’d choose JQ because it’s the only true T1 server up there… But if you want to make a difference you should choose a server in a lower tier.

Now about SoR being superior to TC, yeah, I agree you guys really did won over TC by 60k first week and 100k on the next. But the 300k lead on the last week you two fought clearly show that SoR wasn’t the same anymore…

The level of QQ here is amazing. I’m thinking of transfering out for that alone! Add in teh skill lag that occurs when a VS megablob shows up and its not always much fun!

A great community on SFR and aparantly Deso is a great community too.
Dont know about VS, suppose thats down to if you want a french server or not. They sure can blob in wvwvw, a full on VS megablob is a fearsome sight!

I would 2nd this^^,I’m transfering off T1 (SoR) for T2-3 server.

You should come to JQ, we are in farm mode for wxp right now since the competition and hype has died down.

What are you goals in WvW? That might make a factor of where you want to go.

But I strongly encourage you to come to JQ.

If you really wanna go back to T1, you can always give your old server (JQ) a try again.
For comparison, it’s best to go to their community site and see how their community is like. Also, ask around people there with whatever questions you have for those servers.

But, if you decide to transfer someday, it’s better to transfer to lower-tiered (T4 or below) server.

I’ve been in T8 and T7 (SF recently just went up, and they are about to go up to T6.) I’m currently on FA with you so I know how you feel about the commanders. If you want good commander coverage with a fun community I would highly recommend picking any of the three T7 servers. If you want to join a server on its way up the tiers very quickly I would recommend Sorrows Furnace.

Don’t transfer to T1, it is boring.

Hi, “nothing matters but winning servers,” and “we only care about the fights.” Don’t come to SoS. We don’t need you. We are happy. We are stable. We on SoS have seen your recent Tier 1 WvW recordings. We see your blobs and skill lag. We see the endless field fighting. We heard about your 20 squad dolyak walkers and 20 squad defenders on each supply camp in JQ server. We see the manly G v G “we are better skilled than you” fights. We see your obsession with FoO.

We don’t want to be you. Yesterday on SoS server the women hosted a Ladies Night (which I have helpfully linked here: http://youtu.be/UrIAuld62Gc). We have a beach party with live DJ sets planned next. You are playing the game the wrong way. I’ll be at the beach again around San Francisco next week because I don’t have to worry about slaving away logging 8 hour WvW shift work anymore to help SoS “win.” I help SoS “win” by being an active participant in its community.

I will throw the energy I have left to the SoS community. I hope it will outlast the tier 1 wannabe’s. Few server communities are stable, refreshing, and fun. We think JQ, TC, and SBI are competition because they have active, interesting, and stable communities. I believe the community we strive to be is JQ-like. Lets see who outlasts who Jedbacca, FoO, and friends. This isn’t over yet. =)

On SoS we have our nine 1st place finishes in the NA bracket thanks to many of you spread across the servers. Now we’re going to party like its 1999 bro. Its OK to celebrate after the WvW marathon race. Don’t bomb me bro. Let’s have a beach party instead?

Honestly though, if you’re concerned about queue times, I’d give T1 a very wide berth. 30 minutes can be nothing during primetimes. You really only need to look at a few different topics with people complaining about the odd 2-3 hour queue or longer for WvW to know that if you aren’t particularly queue-tolerant, T1 probably isn’t for you.

My personal opinion is also that WvW outside of T1 is definitely a far more enjoyable experience. There are too many people obsessed with winning or just happy to be huge trolls. In all honesty, I’d stick it out with FA for a few more weeks and see how it goes.

You’re gonna get queues on all T1 servers. At reset night it can be pretty bad. I suggest skipping Tier 1 and going to Tier 2. Some great action last time we were there.

The one in last place, which has actually lost guilds, is not the most at risk? I’m not saying that it’s about to fall apart here, but if someone’s going to drop, they are simply the most likely at this time.

No one in T1 is currently at risk of dropping anytime soon. Just look at the glicko and how is it barely moving.

SoV is on SoR. (edit: I stuffed up here, not actually correct)

In regards to the OP without overwhelming bias, all three servers in T1v are relativvely stable – with a core crew that keeps all three servers afloat. JQ has far more numbers because of what happened at the end of free transfers, and due to the rep for winning attracted a lot more members from lower tiers and continued doing this due to people wanting to be green in T1.

I say this without venom, because to be honest this is what happened when I was on HoD (you often can’t blame this happening once a server gains momentum). T1 is highly competitive, and in that environment there are more players who try to stir the drama due to the true rivalries that do occur. SoR and BG have a solid community in SEA, as does JQ however if you are after a relatively balanced fight I would recommend a T2 server (KN, TC and FA all being solid servers with great communities)

Anyway, take this advice with a grain of salt as I am currently on BG and no-one can escape bias
