The most recent major update to WvW (EotM) is so broken it no longer qualifies as a competitive game mode. At most, it is now an upgraded Queensdale champ train (they depreciated the old one). Other than that, not even a mention of future WvW development since like February, unless you count the developers trying to fix the season 2 rewards…

I gave up trying and I realized why even though I didn’t see it.

In part 2 of that points of interest show they mentioned having a budget for lines of text for scarlet’s room.

Think about that for a second. A budget for text.

They don’t even have to voiceover any of it. I’ve written more words today than the text they could possibly put in that room. If they have a budget for text they definitely don’t have a budget for fixing anything in WvW. That is why we’ll never see anything happen. Maybe they have a small budget to fix skill text or high visibility balance issues but that’s it.

“WvW is going to die”
“something needs to change”
“this is not working”
“servers are dying”
etc

Those people were met with “everything is fine” and/or “why do people keep complaining”. All of those “complainers” warned those people that when the complaining stops, that is the time to really worry.

Salutations fabulous frequenters of the WvW forum!

I’ve returned from an all-expenses payed vacation to the beautiful tropical paradise of BANanaville, courtesy of the lovely people at ClubANet.

So, I see the following update has been made to WvW in my absence:

World vs. World
Fixed an issue preventing the WvW armorsmith vendors from selling to level 60-69 characters.
Fixed an issue in which Build Master II caused the incorrect amount of supply to be spent when building burning oil, cannons, and mortars.

So I ask you, “What is there to be angry about?” Can’t you see they’re pouring their heart and soul into making WvW reach its full potential with all the frequent updates and improvements to this spectacular game mode?!?! Please cut them some slack and give them ALL the credit they so richly deserve.

Well, that’s it from for me for now. I’ll likely be off on another fantastic holiday getaway to BANanaville in the very near future. Meanwhile, keep it classy WvW peeps!

7600+ postings and not a single word from Anet?

WvW is hurting.

Many servers are in the wrong tiers.

Glitches and more are kicking WvW’s population to the curb.

This last round of DDoS attacks against servers in the US (not just Anet) caused us to lose almost all of our properties by the time most of us could login again.

Since the end of the season, my server and many others haven’t won a single game. Don’t you think the tiers are a bit wrong? Most of us know the tiers are incorrect right now.

I have never NOT been able to login even if for a few minutes, for the last several days it’s been a struggle but day before yesterday was a nightmare that Anet needs to fix, and soon.

Guild Wars 2 has one end game and Anet is ignoring it.

PvP may get all the attention but you even took away the glory vendors – and expected us to be even happier about the lesser rewards to be had?

So now WvW is the best thing in this game and Anet just lets it be destroyed by neglect and by outside interference.

Glitching into someone Citadel is easy – just watch anyone do it and then copy what they do – and Anet won’t even fix that one.

We are waiting, we don’t want to leave the best game around but ignoring over 7600 postings begging for fixes is a bit much.

ANet has proven for almost 2 years straight now, that they will do what they want, when they want with this game, for all playstyle modes, regardless of customer experience and customer feedback/suggestions/testing.

It is their game, and they do get to do what they want.

Accept, tolerate or vote with your feet/wallet are the choices left to customers in response.

I would post more, but again, there’s no point.

Anet will only care when another company comes along and does WvW (what we have now) better and it takes away their bling.

For the amount I have already spent on this game (which I don’t regret), I’d have to play another 10+ years of GW2 to get my money’s worth (comparable subscription prices.) I can’t imagine that happening, given the current lack of communication/attention/direction.

I’ve already voted with my wallet by closing it here and opening it for another game.

Still playing WvW though and waiting for CU (target 2015), which is being developed (for good or bad) by the same developer who created the original RvR which ANet borrowed (in concept) for GW2’s WvW.

It’s really sad to me to see a game type with so much potential be so thoroughly ignored by the devs. As much as I love WvW, I’m starting to lose patience waiting for years to see any significant improvements. Even the easy fixes are brushed under the rug or take months and months to be implemented (WXP). And then when they add stuff like EotM I just get discouraged again. Do the WvW developers not play WvW? How could they possibly have thought that all of the falling deaths, PvE mobs, and ridiculous buffs would make for fun, fair WvW competition?

Throw us a bone here Anet, even vague hints at what you are and are not focusing on. That way if it turns out to be more EotM horse kitten we can quit wasting our time waiting.

Well all those WXP masteries sure filled the gap between all that new content.
I don’t think the Bloodlust Ruins were a bad addition though, I hate underwater combat and you lose stacks once you enter if you don’t have Bloodlust equipped on a weapon.

I wish they would stop some of these hackers though, can’t be that hard?
But being angry over something you can’t control, instead of trying to make the best out of the situation and focusing on the negatives, is the wrong way to deal with this ‘anger’.

This discussion has been made lots of times before. ANet doesn’t care about improving the quality of their game because they’ve already made the money and the die-hard-fans who spent money on the gem shop will spend it anyway, no matter how bad the game becomes.
We’ve been lied to several times and frustration has turned into apathy. Unless they plan something big behind the curtains, GW2 will die out when they run out of cheesy scripts for Living Story Season #278562387652

I think most of the people here play GW2 for a long time and they know that being angry, demanding changes or new things is pointless because nobody is listening or talking to them anyways, so why being angry ? you only hurt yourself. Take WvW as what it is now because it won´t get better and hopefully not worse. I took a break for 2 months in elder scrolls online and i can tell you at least the WvW in GW2 works and does halfway perform well enough that it is playable.

People are kittened….but if you post about it….your infracted or banned….they refuse to actually communicate at all and when they decide to it’s a cryptic (well we are working on something but we are not comfortable telling you about it right now). Boy I wish my clients would let me do that in software development…..

So here we are in the sad state of affairs that is the WvW forums lol. Everyone that has complained is gone….any new guys that complain are working on being gone….so everyone just kinda stays silent hoping anet will realize that communication is key regardless of how many times they need to update and change the information they provide to us about what they are working on….

Ironically, people bought this game because Anet did what they wanted to when they developed it. Somehow, people feel empowered because they play the game, and believe they should be able to dictate what the company that makes the game is doing.

Anet has to consider a lot of factors when they alter the game, not just 1 persons views. They do research, they pay attention to what is already popular in the game, they listen to people, etc. Also, whether the WvW team wants to do something or not, they have to get approval from people above them, who might not even play the game. And, in the end, it all goes back to NC Soft, who published and funded the game.

So, yeah, people can get angry, people can cry, but they should just take a business class, and maybe some game development classes, or read some articles on www.gamasutra.com about how the game industry is ran. It is always easy to be an arm chair developer, but the actual process is anything but easy.

Enjoy the game for what it is, and what you bought it for. You didn’t buy GW2 when it came out, to boss around the developers, and to make them bow down to you. No one buys a single player game, or a console / PC shooter, to boss around the company that makes those games.

Get real people. If you don’t like the game, if it is really causing you this much unhappiness, then play something else. It isn’t a job (unless you are a gold farmer), it is entertainment. If I am watching a crappy movie, I just stop it and try a different movie.

People bought GW2 not because Anet were mavericks but because their design decisions were agreeable. People are not leaving out of entitlement but of boredom. Anet has shown that there is nothing to be expected development wise for WvW, no maps, no change to the game mode and its dominant strategy of power recruiting for off-hours, no meaningful changes in the class metas, no changes guild or raid functionality, no meaningful WvW rewards outside of seasons, etc. Anet had a change to make an enjoyable game, but stagnation and apathy on their end towards their WvW base has eroded confidence and sent people away. I rather take those i play with to another game to PvE then to sit and do the same thing everyday in WvW KNOWING nothing will change.

problem with ranger is that ranger is fine and just a few know how to play it, this game isnt about play as you want, player need to copy pasta the most efective build.
