Hello Community,
my name is Enefes The Superior. I am lead of the guild ‘Get Tankier [GEAR]’ and one of the main commanders on Riverside [DE].
The past few weeks, I thought a lot about things you could change in WvW. By collecting thoughts and impressions of our community and my guild, I was now able to write down everything I got on my mind.
You probably already know some of these ideas, but I wanted to write down everything together in one thread.
In terms of a better overview, i divided my post in 2 categories:
- Gameplay
- Guilds/Guild-Raids
Gameplay:
The intention here is, to improve existing content and introduce some new aspects.
- Laggs:It actually got discussed more than enough, but i want to mention it here anyways.The past few weeks showed, that the performance is directly related to our connected WvW-Server. We experienced 2 Weeks in a row with horrible skilllaggs.We experienced this on EB and borderlands with only 2 servers fighting against each other for up to 10 minutes. With the massive speed-up after the fights we were able to claim object within 2 seconds or open reinforced doors without any problems within 1 minute. Last week we got linked with a better server -> rarely skilllaggs, even while 3 servers fighting against each other.
- Rewards: We could need some improvements here for players who upgrade or scout towers and speed dollys in. It would be nice to improve events for escorting dolyaks or invent special events for supporting the upgrade itself -> If the upgrade is done: Events for players who escorted dolyaks, defeated enemies while upgrading or speeded workers. As a reward for scouts you could invent a special event at upgrade-NPC,where you can e.g. ‘sign up. for 20 minutes as a scout. After this time and not leaving the object you could recieve WXP or some badges of honor. Therefore you’d have to match the maximum number of scouts with the size of the object, invent a range around the object scouts have to stay and a cooldown until you can start the event again. You could also think about increasing the prices for upgrades. As a reward for scouts you could think about refunding the costs for the upgrade to the scout if the upgrade is successfull.
-Achievements: I see also some potential in terms of WvW here.
Following things would be possible here:
‘’King of the Arrowcart’’ -> xxxx Playerkills with arrowcarts;
‘’Sniper’’ -> xxxx Playerkills with ballistas;
‘’Let me in’’ -> xxxx Gates opened;
‘’King of Siege ’’ -> xxxx Walls destroyed;
‘’Do not besiege here!’’ -> xxxx Supplies with traps removed;
‘’Upgrade? No thanks!’’ -> xxxx Supplies removed by trebuchets ;
‘’Stop the Siege’’ -> xxxx Siege-Weapons destroyed;
‘’King of upgrading ’’ -> xxxx Objectives upgraded;
‘’You’re nothing without me’’ -> xxxx Objectives scouted;
- Commander: There are also some improvements here I’d like to see as an active commander..
1. Increasing Squad-size: Often there is more than 1 commander on each map (whether wanted or not) and by limiting the squad size to a maximum of 50 players some players experience a disadvantage when they are not able to join the squad anymore. If you limit the maps to more than 50 players you could do the same with the squad size. In addition to that you also could think about a function for players to ignore the other commanders on map. Moreover you should not be able to see commanders on your blocklist anymore.
2. Increasing the commander-icon size itself: Especially small characters got the problem, that the icon itself is too small or too low. A target mostly fixes this problem, but it would be nice to have the same size and position of every icon.
3. Siege cap near commander: Blocking siege of all players expect the commander himself with like 1200 range near the active commander. Maybe a nice option to prevent trolling.
4. Upgrade the icons: More or less just a nice add-on, but the NPC could sell some upgrades for the icon itself,e.g. payed with badges of honor. Alternative to that you could invent a system,that the icon upgrades itself after a set time of being an active commander, means having at least 20 people in your squad. You could think about other colors, sizes or titles like General, Admiral, … . But as I said, that would be just a nice feature.
- Additional: You could think about following changes too:
1. Claimed objectives should become unclaimed again, when there are no members of the related guild on the map anymore.
2. Inventing a debuff for every NPC bannered by a battle standard. The NPC can not be bannered for like 1 minute anymore. Resing him should be still possible.
3. You sould be able to reset your WvW-Points whenever you want to. You could think about a price of like 2.500 badges here.
