I think the people who do not vote cuz they do not have opinion should count as they do not care.
so if the vote ends like
2 alp 1 dbl 70%
3 dbl 3 alp 25%
do not care 5%
then people happy with results would be
2alp 1 dbl 75%

So in this case 2 alp 1 dbl is obviously more favorable. At least the percentage should be accounted somehow because it makes the option that requires higher percentage (this time 2alp 1 dbl) harder to acquire even though they have no opinion. f/e: If 25% vote that they do not care which option, and 5% vote for 3dbl 3 alp and the rest 70% vote for 2 alp 1 dbl, it would mean 2 alp 1 dbl CANT happen.

So reasonable decision is to account it somehow.

Actually I am afraid that some people are going back into the poll after voting and saying don’t count my vote just to see the current results and not realizing they just changed their vote.

Yeah I do hope people realise this.

Both options are kitten. If one home border is the desert border it means that one server will have a very kittenty 3 months and their rank can even be effected by it.

If we have desert borders for 3 whole kitten months is just gonna make people stop playing during those 3 months and many might drop and not come back when alpine is back again.

Desert border is not what the majority want. Your voting was so wrongly made, and you should just have put up vote either desert or alpine. Period.

Why 1 or the other? That would not be smart and simultaneous provides the options for both anyway. The previous poll was fine. As for population dropping, vote for the simultaneous option that was everyone gets what they want.

Because it is a punishment to get the desert border and the server that has to play it for 3 months will have a empty border, whilst those with alpine wont.
This has nothing to do with rewardtracks, we already showed very clearly when DB came out that we do not like the map because it offers no tactics, it is only a empty huge map with towers and keeps that have no synergy and noone could care less if they loose anything. Not to mention we have no waypoints to use except for two in the north IF we own rampart.

When DB came out the veterans of wvw piled up on EB. They did this for a reason, they hated the DB map. People said, oh well tough luck, the new players will take over, but as we knew they wouldn’t because to be very frank here, they do not have the knowledge and noone wants to follow a commander that know nothing about what he is doing and wiping his group over and over or turning the map in to a pvd train. That is not wvw to anyone. So the border went empty. And the ques to EB was huge. Because veterans that did not leave the game went there, and the other players that was suppose to build up the new wvw, went to EB because there is were the fights were, and this is also were the reward track will even be a disadvantage to those that have the DB map. If the tracks was what brought it back ,then players goes were the rewards are.

So again DB maps will hurt wvw once again. But this time i don’t think it will survive. It barely did the last time. And 3 months is a looooong time in WvW. Rememeber golem week? Was ONE week, and that is the second thing in wvw history that hurt it badly. Now 3 months…..

The DBL’s don’t work like they used to. MUCH easier to get around in them… no barricades. The WP’s work exactly like they do in Alpine now. If you own it (even all three keeps) and the upgrades are there then you have all three wp’s available to you.

In the last few weeks before Alpine came back there was a lot more activity in the DBL’s. At least on the FA/BP linking there was. We had people running through DBL’s a lot from all sides and some decent fights along the way even with the rolly landscape. Having all WP’s available was very helpful and so on and so on.

When the DBL comes back to a server near you please try it out objectively. You might find it’s not the devils playground it first was…

I thought the behavior was showing you whatever option you voted for on top if you are re-entering the poll. Which might change it from the original order it was in.

The order is supposed to be random each time, sans the “don’t count my vote” option which is always last. However, on a poll with two answers it can sometimes be hard to see. I don’t know if the answer order is randomized for each logged in session or each page load as there has been some inconsistencies in regards to this in the previous polls.

That being said, if the order is changing it is likely done as a measure to make the poll order neutral or hinder the impact of votes that do not read the options (ie. bots f.ex.).

No ship has sailed. If massive amounts of players leave the game over it again, they will have to rethink that idea or let the game die. The end goal should be to increase population, player satisfaction and game longevity. If an update deceases population, player satisfaction and game longevity, they have to rethink it or let the game mode die.

Well, I fail to see them rethinking this matter the third time… community having been involved in both previous instances. The WvW team is small… their time is no doubt better spent than going over the same debate ad nauseam when they now have actual hard number that are good enough for them apparently.

Sure, there is always a remote possibility of a mass exodus, however, until that actually happens they should focus on moving forward. If they try and keep addressing something that might happen they are forever stuck on this matter.

That may be what you wish for, but as Crise, Liston, and others here have said….YES, that ship has sailed. It will be a mixed bl, and you dbl haters will still have the chance to avoid it at all costs. But, considering that the vast majority of players voted to keep dbls around….that ship has most definitely sailed.

You’re just afraid to admit that you might actually be wrong about something.

I am looking forward to a mixed bls….best compromise for all, imo, at this point in time.

I hope you guys realize the way you have this poll right now, a “Don’t count my vote” actually is counting towards what will happen if a 75% vote is not received for mixed map.

Essentially the votes for “Don’t count my vote” are in fact being counted because of how you setup this poll….

We had those options in a similar poll. I don’t remember how many more votes 2ABL and 1DBL got than the other way around. However, that poll was very controversial with many, many people on these forums crying about how they would have picked another option if it had been clearer, and you had people who were voting to remove DBL entirely in that poll. If the two options were close at all, it could be skewed due to people being confused or voting to remove DBL entirely.

I still think that this poll should have just been

“Do you want to rotate BL or have simultaneous BL?” and then a follow up poll to get better details. I mean hell I know there are a lot of people that don’t want simultaneous BL but also don’t want 3 months of a single BL at a time, so they don’t get an option that accurately reflects their wants in this poll. Its just a bad poll in my opinion and it will end with a fair amount of players not happy with the results

When does the poll end? Can it end now while its at 77% winning so that we don’t risk it being 74.9% and the majority not getting what we asked for.

It’s still bullkitten of course. It’s quite clear what the community wants. It was clear in the first vote and it’s still clear in this vote. Getting 75% or more is quite irrelevant at this point. If Anet cannot see that then they are blind.

I don’t like having 2 ABL and 1 DBL, and I also hate the thought of having 3 months of ABL at a time. The two options I listed are enough to know whether the community wants simultaneous borderlands or not. And then after that you should have held another poll to get the details.

If rotating won then you should have had a new poll with a timeline (rotate every 1, 2, 3 months). And if simultaneous had won you should have had a new poll with whether we wanted 1 DBL and 2 ABL, 2 DBL and 1 ABL or 1 of each and you guys start working on a third BL map. But as it is this was a bad poll. I don’t want 2 ABL as I hate those maps, but seeing as how that is likely to win at this point, it means that I will never get 2DBL and 1 ABL which is what I would prefer

In regard to simultaneous its as plain as the nose on your face that most would prefer 2ABL 1DBL no reason to have a extra poll for that. The polls are too granular as it is.

In regard to rotation they have already said its a resource intensive manual process to put a new build in so they want to keep it at 3 months.

You wouldn’t get it anyway; we had that option on the poll a few weeks back and it got less than 10%. With the poll going the way it is, though, it’s quite possible we’ll see a third borderland map next year.

Flipped my vote from Rotation to Simultaneous, mainly because we get another playing field to break up the monotony.

It will be just below 75% for the final tally, because the DBL haters are trying to sabotage the vote, so that they can say afterwards…..“See? We told you so!!!! The game will now die!!!” Or something equally as absurd.

Frankly, I don’t care if it does revert to a quarterly rotation. I just think the 2 abl, 1 dbl option is the best compromise.

you know what!? i wouldnt doubt it for a single second if anet just lowers it below 75%.
it took them almost a year to realize the population in wvw was dying. why do they have to call this a poll when 25%>75% is what they aim for and why not give other options. why couldnt they ask us other related questions in the poll or make us take a survey so they can know what we want.

For those saying you can play on the BL of your choice and avoid the one you dislike, I really can’t see how you can avoid it, if its your home BL, accept to play on EBG. This whole idea seems absurd to me.

If there is a rotation all the bl’s will be replaced by the dbl for 3 months at a time which could prove disastrous. At least with the 2abl/1dbl it is limited to one map and we get to keep alpine. The other problem is that a lot of of people also do not want dbl as their home map…really no winning with this map, its basically just a lesser of two evils vote, but then again aren’t all votes all that

The way they email the other surveys to past and present players would do the trick. They do not email those surveys to all players. For WvW surveys, they can make sure they only email WvW players with a minimum number dolyak kills would do it, since there are no dolyaks in EotM to bump up ranks. XD

Its not even an evil with mixed borders as it is a self-balancing system. It is a win-win situation regardless of whether you hate or like desert, as opposed to rotating borders that is a loss for everybody.

If people avoid desert like the plague, that still means it very easy to come in fast and karmatrain the keeps. This in turn mean that the server with it as home will want to keep a presence there for defense, which begin the cycle of activity with camp capping and roaming. With 3 desert, the problem was that this activity never truly began because players where spread too thin. Most people did dislike desert after all.

If people avoid the desert so much the above never even happen, we focus the alpine population on 2 maps instead of 3, which gives more roamers, more zergs, more fights and tons of fun. Got desert as your home map? Well focus fully on offense instead because having a safe home no one goes too is an advantage.

How is any of this “the lesser evil”, regardless of your stance on desert?

Dont like any of the options so did: Don’t count my vote.

Still think best solution is that we vote every week with map we want as our home borderland map next week. (can have a tick Always vote this map)

Actually I don’t see the simultaneous BLs dropping much more than now.

With more votes, the influence of a single vote is less and less.

Since about 8 hours ago the drop for Simultaneous was about 0.4%, I think if it does dip more it will be because of those who voted for Simultaneous already changing their votes.

Most people who enjoy DBL also enjoy Alpine. So they win by having variety.

Most people clamoring against DBL never played the upgraded version or are being stubborn. They win by getting to choose to play Alpine whenever they want.

So it’s a case of an outcome benefiting both sides.

Cut the vote off now Anet! Somehow simultaneous is dropping. Who are these people coming in and voting rotation? Or are they going back to check the results and not realizing that the order changes and ticking the wrong one (I almost did that).

It seems like the length of the vote is not always the same so just cut it off now!

That doesn’t make any sense. People who don’t usually play WvW but want a guaranteed chance to see the new map would be voting for simultaneous, since there is a 100% chance of having a DBL, as opposed to 50% chance if the two are in rotation.

How is it rigged? If you discard the “no vote” ones as McKenna clearly said that they would, simultaneous is currently at 79.7%, well above the threshold.

Unless the rotate vote percentage is going up, then the only reason the simultaneous vote isngoing down is because of the “don’t count my vote” percentage is going up.

TL;DR: Quit kittening panicking.

With the caveat that I don’t understand their code, this seems like an absurd assumption. Having 2:1 means that they don’t have to do any work adding the maps every quarter.

Well you dont need to look at it anyway. As long as rotating is below 25%, simultaneous has guaranteed victory. Its when that goes above 25% it becomes iffy and depend on the amount of non-voters.

Its really not so much rigged as it is playing people against each other while having a default condition with an insanely low fail threshold. I mean when was the last time 70% or more of the community – any community really – could agree on anything? Errr… well, ignoring the previous mixed borderlands vote of course. Even then, 2 alpine/1 desert only had 50% of votes if I recall correctly, 1/2 made up the rest.

Ugh… how many days do we have left on this travesty anyway?

This is always the danger for polls with 75%-hurdle. Trolls can manipulate it.

It is strange that we never get a date for closing the poll. I have also the impression that the polls have different lifespans.

As far as I know it is typically a week’ish long poll, the only exception so far that I know of was the previous version of this poll… which they likely closed early because of two reasons.. one they knew they were going to re-do it most likely and two the results split in such a way that reaching the supermajority would have never happened in the time that was presumably left on it.
