Kill one million dolyak caravans to get the Ultimate Interceptor title. If you play this game for – let’s be generous here – 10 years and each year is 365.24 days, then you’re playing the game for 3,652 days. During those days you have to kill 1,000,000 / 3,652 = 274 caravans on average every day. Can anyone say this is not unreasonable?

Perhaps even more daunting is the 500,000 caravan escorts achievement. Escort 137 per day, killing the guy of last paragraph who’s coming with his razor-edge perfect caravan-killing build. Only get credit if the caravan actually reaches destination. This might take a couple of minutes for each caravan.

Dear Arenanet, could you please take a couple of zeroes out of these? It would still be quite a feat to accomplish.

I’m pretty sure we’ll see changes to this, possibly as early as this month. It shouldn’t be that hard to change.

Still it’s a pretty minor point, over all. Sure, it’s a screw up. But not a game-breaking one. It’s not like you can’t enjoy WvW, because you can’t max your Dolyak achievement.

And if you can’t, I’d say you have more problems than the achievement in the first place.

It’s broken, and it’ll get fixed…at some point.

Even if they fix the numbers to something more reasonable, it won’t be something you can get in a few months …they do want them to take a year+, much like the gw1 hero and champion titles.

but they’d still be in that range by cutting most of the current numbers by 80%

I think that’s why the word “ultimate” is in the title. You can be an good interceptor at 100,000 dolyak kills, but are you truly the ultimate?

Then titles should be granted along the way.

Reasonable Interceptor for 5000.
Decent Interceptor for 10000.
Somewhat Good Interceptor for 20000.
etc

The track themselves are fine. I think what the problem that unlike in GW1, you don’t have a “tiered” title system. In GW1, you got titles for different tiers. I’m not sure why GW2 decided against it.

Hmm reminds me of the “good old” days in Runescape……

I gave up on that game after playing it for 11 odd years on and off coming here thinking “hooray for no more grindiy games!”

Seriously tho I think these numbers are simply an oversight or were thrown together and purposly put at these crazy numbers until they get around to making the achievement points mean something or adding in extra tier titles etc.

6 months later however perhaps Anet just forgot about it.

I agree with you, I also did the math and even questioned myself if it was correct :-p. I was going to makea post about it but since march is supposed to be the big WvW update, I waited. Hopefully they’re gonna change it in this update, if not, RAAAAGEEEE :-p

Honestly I really wish there were some title changes for the recent WvW update, but alas we’ll have to continue waiting for a change. On the bright side Anet has addressed the issue…unfortunately I don’t see changes coming in the near future.

I wholeheartly support this.
This is by far the most ridiculous achievement point category of them all with absolute ridiculous high amounts of needed points for those achievements.. next one to come after is the PvP one.

I can absolutely understand, that achievements should be some kind of long term motivation for certain categories, like WvW, but at the way how they are designed at the moment, the achievements either need a drastically change, or the ways how we gain points towards these achievements need a drastical change to make it somehow easier to gain those points over time and give players also an intention to group up together and play WvW in Groups.

Realm Avenger: Instead of 50000 Kills for Max > 10000 Kills for Max
Yakslapper: Instead of 1 Million Dolyaks for Max > 50000 Kills for Max
Dolyaks Best Friend: Instead of 500000 Escorts > 25000 Escorts
Realm Defender: Instead of 2,5 Million used supplies > 100000 used supplies
Repair Master: Instead of 1 Million used supplies für repairs, change it to 100000 repairs counting the repair action in itself and not the used supplies
Master of Disaster: instead of 1 million used supplies for siege weapons, change it to 100000 build up siege weapons or instead change it to a certain amount of damage dealt with siege weapons, like deal 100 Million Damage with Siege Weapons overall over time
Take Everything on Sight > For max, it should be more then 10000 captured places
All the undergoing sub achievements with the different capturable things should take maximum 2000 captures for max. We can capture atm 5 (7, if we consider Power Nodes and the Temple, but currently those two thigns arend in any achievement at all, they are just basically side quests that can be captured) different things:

  • Supply Places
  • Towers
  • Keeps
  • Stonemist Castle
  • Street Outposts

This is more then enough long term motivation and do you know why Anet?
*Because you Anet are at the point to be able to implement and add more WvW Achievements at any given time to expand the long term motivation in WvW in regard of achievements, so why in gods name must thos current achievements be so terribly designed and be basically unreachable for anyones lifetime

I just calculated once basically (without taking into consideration that other players can disturb you, without considering that you need to sleep, eat, work ect.), how long a player would have to play daily 24 hours WvW, just to get Yakslapper theoretically in the most quickest time and what that would mean, how fast you would have to kill yaks to do that…

One player would have basically to play every single day 24 hours way and kill 1 yak every like 3 minutes to get this hellish achievement done in just only …cough cough cough basically 2 3/4 YEARS.

Now to think about, that this calculation was made for a crazy zombie player with no life, that can’t exist anywhere out there, that would be able to play daily all day long for 2 3/4 years this game, you have to consider sleeping, eaing, work and thousands of other things that can take your time outside of the game, you would have to take the 2 3/4 years times 3 at last to come alot nearer into a realistical ares of how much time just this 1 single achievement would take…

2 3/4 years * 3 = 8 1/4 years!!!!!!!!!!! and even this can’t realistically say out corrently how much time you would really need in the end, because this simple calculation can’t take into consideration disturbing enemy players that can massively steal your time (and nerves)

So long speech, short sense..or for forum nerds …

This made me lol, just considering the dolyak killing guy.

Dolyak escort guy is trying to get a dolyak to the tower. Enter dolyak killing guy. Dolyak killing guy really wants that achievement, he’s far along too. He has killed over 820,000 dolyaks and has it down to a science. He’s spent years perfecting the absolute perfect dolyak killing character, no one can stop him.

He peeks out from behind a bush, runs around the corner, then dolyak escort guy just hears a gasp to his right. He looks to his right and all that’s left is 1/4 of a dolyak saddle.

Escort Guy: “kitten it!”

If they are made easier, they are no longer the ultimate and therefore meaningless…

There’s a huge difference between making something easier and making it obtainable in a reasonable amount of time, even for the most hardcore player. The titles, ALL of the titles, are far too extreme; some more than others. There needs to be titles associated with each tier. 13k kills in WvW and I have nothing to really show for it.
